Ya I’ve been thinking about that, I think on the job is better for sure. Because I get to work on their codebase for 8hrs a day and get help from experts at a moments notice with a message. It really helps my skills grow especially since I’m full stack react and backend AWS/ nodejs and mobile react native I’m picking up on everything quick

It puts me in the mood to code. Earlier in the year when I was unemployed and trying to learn it was a lot harder to keep making new projects

Ya that's the plan. I just grind non-stop so i wanna get something that matches my peak potential. IDK if my peak is 70k, (probably closer to 80k after a bonus & 4% stock). I have alll summer and up till december to possibly work part time intern and grind interviews non-stop so i might as well just do it for fun and see how 2024 goes. If i win i get a higher paying job, if I don't i just keep this and try again in a year

I do fractional CTO work, and, develop my own internal tools for my business and some hobbyist things; I did my undergrad in CS, and, my M.Sc. in HCI... 2023 is when I finish my MBA (August). I'm not hiring at the moment, but, like helping others or getting insights into how people I may later supervise or mentor or whatever is potentially useful. There are people here who are working in industry, etc. not everybody's a new grad (even though this server definitely has a tilt that way)

it's a long story, involving burnout post-M.Sc., living in multiple countries, working at startups on the verge of failure, learning a lot in small companies, teaching at a university and having freedom+time to think deeply about what I really wanted, realizing job searching from abroad doesn't work well, and, figuring out that buying a company seemed better, then, after that worked, deciding diversifying would be helpful, finally finding others doing similar things, leveling up skills, and, really finding my tribe. Not a particularly linear path. Definitely lots of things that didn't work out on the way but from which I learned a lot.

I've been in that situation many times now. I think it's easier doing that when in management than when as an employee because you've got direct control and influence about how to extend the runway, etc. Still not guaranteed to be successful, though, of course. As an employee, it's difficult, it ends up being a topic of discussion almost weekly at lunch times, etc. I had a ton of other things going on then though like the impending birth of my first daughter (and then the first few months of her life) and sticking with a company I knew would be flexible was super important vs. jumping ship and potentially having to work longer hours or give up flexibility and irreplacable time.

I did also have multiple income streams, though not a fantastic one, if the company failed I wouldn't be going to 0 income, and, maternity benefits were a thing my wife was getting, etc.
