Doesn't do jackshit in big companies for junior level positions as it's all done through ATS, small orgs and startups do care about referrals since there's more personal touch. At my last place, almost all the hires we made were through employee referalls.

jfc, well if you want a IT job, one place to try finding is a Managed Service Provider company

ive several reasonable things that make me recommend against it

First of all, you are making a career investment that is very difficult to walk away from. FLE is not a job you spend a year getting and then quit in a month.

You are looking at months of process before you are hired, sometimes more. You will be physically evaluated before you are hired. The background checks and clearance is/are excruciating and painstaking to complete.

You will then be shipped off to FLETC, the federal law enforcement academy, where you will...go through a literal police academy; the same as every other federal agent, ICE, CBP, FBI, SS, etc etc.

The academy is not necessarily super difficult if you're in decent shape and apply yourself to the coursework and training (and of course law enforcement hiring and training standards have dropped according to word of mouth, mainly because of a lack of qualified applicants, which can be attributed to a number of factors not limited to poor pay, poor work life balance, the career's commitment requirements, poor public perception and bad reputation, and for certain agencies...political issues atop their public perception problems)

Assuming you pass all of that you will then be given a very limited list of places to choose to begin your career in. You do not have the freedom, choice, or luxury of guarantee when it comes to placement at a particular post or location starting out or anywhere in the near future. You could quite literally end up anywhere within the USA

The pay is not good. You can go look up the federal pay scales and steps to see for yourself. You can and will make significantly more money in the private sector. Government is known mainly for having good benefits and retirement.

Danger level is actually not necessarily that high. Especially if you're working cyber crime or shit like that behind a desk 99% of the time. It's not like you're in a patrol car running to calls all day. Experience varies by agency and specific work/team assignment.
