My summer internship experience was the worst i feel . Manager was first time managing interns in his career , had no clue how to manage . he assigned a mentor who had zero knowledge about the tech stack that I am gonna use to make the project . Had a co-intern who was atrociously hard to work with(ffs she was thinking in the end only one would get a return offer) . There were no 1:1's anytime , mentor least cared about the project . When i used to get stuck he used to redirect me to other engineers who had no clue about my project so they were not able to help me as much as they could , so all the time i was all on my own . It was stressful and most of the times i felt very overworked . I remember some few days when I was so stressed that I didn't eat for 2 days , had neck aches and what not . since mentor didn't have any knowledge about JS he would just fricking throw random things at me to do then at one point I told him that this is not possible in JS but he was like you know more JS than me it should be easy and all of that . in between manager was on PTO for a month . there were status calls every 2 days between me manager mentor and the other intern , in the start manager did attend the calls but after a point he stopped attending he had no clue of what was going on . in the last few weeks when manager came back from the pto he kept a call to present it to the team , in that also he left midway . mentor didn't show up . I felt like giving up at times but somehow i mustered up courage and was able to overcome blockers . I almost made an api authoring tool in the end which i am really proud of . but i didn't get a return offer and the mail that my manager sent me regarding the decision made me sad and angry at the same time as he mentioned that "due to specific skills and experiences required in the role we can't give you a return offer" .

I did have the skills(react and js) and the experience too . this shattered my confidance a bit and i felt as if i worked so hard for nothing .

I tried reaching out but he doesn't reply , shows no interest .

a couple of other intern managers placed their interns in some other teams if they didn't have HC . my manager was not proactive at all . its was as if like he didn't want interns at the first place .
