Rip he is coming for u
explain what
i told u

great guess
i mean theres a non 0 chance
Theres no way cuz im anon
On discord
Never shared linkedin or anything
@livid yew
I need answers
I mean ye its lies but u can find real me with that info
Im confused beyond belief
funny thing is
i never sent a request
ig someone requested at the same time i said i did

Thats so sus
i cant
I need answer
Unless someone willingly gave my info in ur dms(which is a dick move)
I dont see
How u could find me
it was organic i promise
That doesn’t explain anything
Yeah it’s sus
ok class time ttyl
Are you a girl?
Cheddy is a professional stalker
incoming DMs
@rain patio found ur insta too
😂
0 posts private insta
Im curious too now
lmaoooo nah
How u guys doing this
its all just a joke
Yea I figured
I’m a professional hacker
Extremely sus
the secret is to not have insta
it wasnt even me
also y'all were talking bout epic earlier in this thread, they were at my career fair, and my god they spent so much time talking how great their campus is lmao i could fuckin tell they're the kinda people who wanted in person workers to relocate to the middle of nowhere
i dont get it honestly, is it so hard to pay less tc and give remote work
youd have a lot more interest
dumbass management
you were at a career fair at my college which is in NJ you want me to move to fuckin Wisconsin
talk about all the great benefits and remote work isnt one of em LMAO
i personally don't see that as a big deal especially in this climate
its not like we got much of a choice
if a place is offering 6figs working for anywhere id be down
its for my mental health, id be very miserable if i had to give up my living situation
not to mention the stress of relocation
especially when there are a buncha companies that will let you work remotely
still, suppose it would make good neogitation material
yeah the ones that won't hire NGs
theres way too many NGs rn even if they do hire 1 or 2 theres still like 400 sittin there
i dont wanna sound rude, but do you have an offer from any of those companies?
well remotely or are in the nyc area rather
i feel like companies are moving away from the remote modle
something may happen
yeah most of the companies i talk to are hybrid atm
with like at least 1-2 days in office per week
well hybrid in nyc is fine, my mental health is going to suffer immensely if i have to give up my living situation rn
if u end up not getting remote offers or offers in NY would u rather stay unemployed or relocate?
i think a good skill in life is also be good at adapting
yea no shit
we all would prefer if we could work from where u are atm
there are....3 companies i have a chance in that are in the nyc area
yeah u got this dude!
i dont know what kinda weed the people at c1 are smoking but they've taken over a month for mldp people and we're all still fucking waiting
some really good weed
nyc is expensive too
and yes i did email them c1 is still deciding lol
doi
ill tell you how shits going in like a month i got like, 3...(hopefully 4 if the people at c1 stop smoking pot) lined up
im really confident in one of them
but i mean, ive been confident before
and now im just rambling
that interview is also 2 weeks away lol
i suppose it stings more given that my roommates both have offers that let them work remotely
return offers too, and the companies i fucking interned at wanted to give me full time offers but could not for different reasons
so ive been pissed and frustrated the last couple of months
yeah i think its just unhealthy to compare urself with others
gotta work with whatever situation u got
its always easy to find someone who's doing better or worse than u
im asian so you can blame my parents for that one
i am too bro
i also have a masters degree and they dont lol
since we are software engineers, try to think logically, if comparing urself to others is healthy or not
and if it isnt try to remove the emotion from it
ya no shit lol
can anyone tell me about TDI graduate program at Deutsche bank ?
I wouldn't get my hopes up, just keep applying to other places
yeah thats also another thing im sure a lot of people learned recently, gotta always keep options open for alternate plans, otherwise ur gonna hit the ground super hard if a company just decides they want to rescind your offer or ghost u
I would think that they'd be interested in a guy that has a master's in machine learning for a role literally about machine learning, I'm interviewing with 3 other companies anyways
the market doesn’t make sense right now, you can be an ML expert if there’s no budget then there’s no budget
ML and DS is just icing on the cake to most companies
There's a lot more factors to it though (target universities and the like), and a lot more candidates. Good to see you have other companies interviewing too 👍
The posting mentioned a salary of 136k so you know I'd hope budget ain't an issue
Either way we'll just fuckin see with time 🙃
Pain
@tender sluice revise your resume ig
Yeah waiting sucks, especially when some companies just ghost
last couple of weeks ive gotten into the habit of emailing my c1 recruiter every monday lol
@tender sluice you don't have to put resume reject (frik)
maybe next monday'll be different
Every time
Nah, I like it. Keep doing it @tender sluice !
It keeps the process channel more interesting
🤷♂️
@tender sluice every time you get rejected you should add an extra frik
I have ur mom on tinder
yup. remote work as we know it is going to crumble now that amazon pulled the plug on it
Dad is 60
Mom is 57

Mf I broke a door today
Yanked it open, glass shattered everywhere
no pics?
All those Comcast installations 💪
thatd be funny
So we working with 8inches?
Double down and say it
yea say it

what is going on get these mf fts outta here

stfu feline crate
nice, you can pet cows in wisconsin maybe
Dont be racist here just because kirb left
I will snitch
bro IDK WHATS GOING ON I JUST GET REJECTS BROOO
anyone watch the ufc?
cant wait for jon jones to fight
hell yeah lol
his knee kicks and twisting elbows are insane lol
pretty tough ngl
I've gotten more rejections this week than I've seen openings combined
Trying to keep head up but it's such a monumental task at this point. I'm at an absolute crossroads rn because while I'm in a Master's program, I'm burning out academically and no longer enjoying going to classes, so I don't want to continue it after my undergrad(it's a dual program). On the other hand, jobs are drying up and the few interviews I'm getting, I'm either not hearing back from or dealing with sus processes.
Honestly highly debating whether I should just take a gap semester after my undergrad and reapply next szn
have you considered stopping the swe job hunt to take that off your to-do list and just focus on school til you finish the masters?
you can use school to hide from the bad job market and maybe after you get masters itll be a better market, but if not, then at least youd have an ms to look more competitive
if you need money in the summer you can take a break from cs/swe and all this and get a more laid back job in retail/cashier/restaurant/fastfood etc or vacation somewhere for a lil before going back to school to refresh
honestly waiting out the horrible szn is an underrated strat but it’s very difficult if you’re a competitive person
yeah just gotta keep ur head up and keep going brother
eventually u'll get a place that'll want u
just will take time
i graduated in june 2022 and just applied in dec for grad programs in the fall to avoid the market myself to come back when it's assumably in a better spot or at least i have a higher degree to set myself apart. just waiting on admissions/rejections
@dawn sequoia oh dang u've been applying since june?
it's a good time to work on improving skills (technical and soft skills)
damn bro
i started applying in july/august
im sure u might already be doing this, but just constantly be improving ur resume and technical interview skills
ive been constantly changing my resume and recently have been getting more responses
yeah i have been, slowly, but it's hard to do that for like 8 months straight so im on and off
im sure its part luck and part due to the resume changes
yeah
ye it can be demoralizing
extremely
what state u live at?
CA
id like a job a seattle tbh.. check it out for a year or two
have some good coffee too
yessir
i had final round interviews with microsoft in seattle last spring but got rejected
that woulda been so nice to get
then probably be one of the ppl laid off since id still be new but id rather be a recent layoff than unemployed the whole time
are u at least nasty at leetcode now?
no not at all
having been in the job market for 8 months
go through all the blind75s
i hate it so much
in life we gotta do things that we don't like
correct
unfortuantely LC is a huge part of the interview process
so might as well get good at it
im trying to figure ways to make it more enjoyable
like teaching it in a blog
or i tried live streaming a few problems as i did them
that was more bearable
yeah NeetCode, the guy that does his videos, he was doing his videos as he was learning
yeah
practicing explaining it
It's like I'm getting burnt out from school and studying itself
i see. yeah i felt that at the end of my bs too
stay strong brother
I'm at the point where like if I push myself any further, I'll start getting in an awful mental space and I don't want to do that consistently
but a summer break full of nothing, helps a lot tbh
i think having a gap to do nothing is nice
after a few months i was ready to get back to doing something
I've been doing that for awhile. I'm fairly disciplined when it comes to my master's but the first semester was where I realized my mental state wasn't good at all and hasn't been in awhile
yeah use this time of unemployment to build some good habits
I have an internship in the summer (as I originally planned to do my masters)
working out, eating healthy, and then coming home to do the job search process
and I was planning to use the fall afterwards and try to go back to my home country one last time before working FT
will have a positive effect on your confidence and mental health
It definitely does; and I don't mean that it doesn't. But I sometimes find myself wondering what is wrong if I need to do it frequently
it's never wrong to put your health first
no matter how frequently
we all work at different paces. you might need a few months to get to a better spot, but i may need 6 months yk
or more
someone got a job for me? job please
some article i found a while ago

Did anyone get an email from flexport w the subject line “Update on your upcoming interviews with Flexport” ?
yeah
Def not. I've been neglecting it for awhile I feel. I haven't been the best person in childhood I recently realized (in turn to other bad friendships and such), and that's kinda messed up a lot of relationships, both personally and professionally due to issues from that. I've been putting it on the backburner for a long time and I think this last semester, it's started to spill over.
My parents have normally been pretty supportive and I'm thankful for that. But I'm also worried they'll be super disappointed if their son decides to stop his master's after undergrad altogether.
I dunno, I'm maybe overthinking it
In either case, I do appreciate the advice
even tho i never had an interview.. just an application

Thanks dude, I'll take a look at that
Yeah same here
Sus
I submitted a few apps but I didn't get an email like that
What is the update that they have provided? Its been three weeks since i finished final interview and have not received any reponse, neither a reject nor any update about next things.
They basically sent an email saying the roles been filled and upcoming interviews are cancelled but they never even got back to me after i applied
You should be doing your Masters only if you want it, not for your parents
i was in a similar spot with my parents about not applying to grad school directly after undergrad. they didnt take the news as easily as i wanted bc i was telling them my goal was phd for a long time and nothing about industry. so ive been explaining to them more about why i want a job (money and break from school and real exp etc) instead of grad school. it helped. basically they just want to know and understand what youre doing and why. then theyll trust a little more that youre not acting on a whim or going down a sus path by switching plans and theres nothing wrong with switching plans
Ah I see. As far as I know, the hr department is no longer responding to any email. I emailed twice asking about the feedback about my final interview but no response.
Maybe they have offers out and ur waitlisted rn?
and rn they are more supportive than before just to help me get something whether it's a grad school admission bc i applied this cycle or a job
It might be the case.
def fs. I should probably rephrase; it's because I've wanted to do a master's for so long and when I finally do it, I realize it's not what I was looking for right outta undergrad
also some therapy and self improvement books might help you process your own emotions better
That's a good way of putting it down. I'm trying to say something similar (break from school, get real experience, etc). I've been consulting friends and family friends alike on this, and so far all of them have been fairly supportive of it. May take a little more convincing to my parents tho
i recently discovered the book side of instagram and it's great. i can recommend a few books (havent read them but they seem highly recommended)
Thanks dude; I'd definitely love to read them.
I write books myself and it's been helping significantly through my college time haha
let me guess-
pragmatic programmer
ddia
clean architecture
...
in the end you have to do what you think is best for you and start to live your own life. it's hard to do at first (still struggling with that) bc you have to find a balance so you dont cut your parents out while trying to path your own path
I barely learned from CS books during college
Yeah you're right. Definitely helps putting that into perspective.
oh sick! what do you write?
i recently added these to my reading list just looking to buy them from a bookstore to support mom and pop shops
when youre ready, this is how you heal
the mountain is you
both books by brianna west
the subtle art of not giving a f by mark manson was good too. i think i only got halfway but i got the gist from that
i started and finished the alchemist yesterday.. incredible read omg perfect for new grads in this market about finding your path and following your heart
im writing a lil blog post summary on it rn
I heard Alchemist was really great, but haven't read it yet. I'll take a look at that and the other ones, thank you!
I write Urban Fantasy; my current project is an action-drama thriller set in Southeast Asia
definitely put that on the top of your list rn. it's like 160 pages. def readable in like a day or two
I've yet to hear back from them I applied like a week ago
New grad/entry level roles are so damn hard to find
So disheartening
i hope you found something helpful in this conversation
nice to talk with someone in a similar position
ping anytime!
Thanks dude. Very thankful for the advice you've given, as well as the other folks
ofc np 🫶
I missed the interview due to internet issue. Was like 10 mins late cause couldn’t connect to internet. It’s for recruiter interview. I guess I messed up. I emailed the recruiter and he’s not replying 😭😭
How was their interview difficulties
I have yet to hear back from them
That's ass sorry to hear that
I'm sure he'll respond how long ago was that?
anyone keep getting take homes or full programming apps during interviews
its like im practicing all this lc and now yo uwant me to build out a full react or oop app in like 1 1/2 hours
It was an hour ago.
I'm sure s/he'll get back to you
yeah for sure but its like im juiced on lc
Thanks bro! I hope u will nail the interview!!!
I am the complete opposite
what if
you do the LC part, and I do the OOP part
pair interview?
rinse and repeat and we split the earnings from our two jobs?
match made in heaven, i'd love that
yeah i came up with the algorithm to perfect the best nuggies for 2.99 canadian
disclaimer: best nuggies for 2.99 but not best nuggies
google shitting themselves rn
Yo is ramp new grad software eng front end worth it?
Or is it just a waste of time trying to solve that challenge
you can find the solution on codesandbox just google it
i say just do it since the solution is already available
bruh the company i interned at gave me a return offer then had layoffs 1 month into me working there
thought i caught a lucky break but guessn ot
u were one of the layoffs?
yea

i high key suck at leetcode and got hella lucky with the offer so its been tough getting back into things idk
i just watch the video if i don't know how to do it
and eventually once you've seen enough, it becomes easier to spot patterns
yo hope ur stuff goes well
yea i been attempting 1-2 questions per day then watching a video if i can't solve if after a while
yeah thats what i tried to do when i first started grinding leetcode, but i noticed that way is much more tiring
if i cant think of a solution in 5 minutes now, i just go straight to youtube lol
if its something u've never seen before, it'll be too time consuming to really sit there and come up with the solution urself, and it may not even be the most efficient answer
but like most things, thats how u learn
you learn the algorithms from the videos and then if u see a similar problem in the future u have a better idea how to do it
like some of the popular methods like for linkedlist problems, without watching videos of people using tricks like the dummy nodes or fast/slow pointers, it'd be almost impossible to just pull that out of ur ass if u've never seen it done before
yea that makes sense
id say its only "bad" if you are directly memorizing the code
if you take the time to understand how it works, it generally will help u for ur future problems
yea when i watch the video i at least try and understand how it works
leaves a bad taste otherwise
same kinda
ye and it feels really rewarding after u get use to the patterns and when u do a medium problem u've never seen before, u can do it in like 5 minutes because you know the trick to it
and once u have LC mastered, the next skill is to act as if you've never seen the problem before in actual interviews
and talk through all the possible brute force solutions
and talk about trade offs and random bull shit
how many apps do you guys send out a day? i'm sending like 5 on average and idk if that's enough
depends on what positions you find
if i find 7 one day i do 7, if i find 2 the next im doing 2
today i havn't yet, but i usually do it later at night and some days ill just go to page 10 on the job boards
fridays are scour the crumbs day for me
as many as u can before u end up getting bored
page 10-20 on fridays
find the best version of ur resume and its just a numbers game from that point on
max page 3 every day
if u dont hear any responses, u'll prob have to work on ur resume
my resume now compared to when i first started is drastically different
yea i've only been applying for like 2 weeks and havent heard much yet which is to be expected ig
ye bro keep it goin
i think as long as ur somewhat consistently applying and improving ur resume u'll eventually start hearing back
and if that doesnt work then try to reach out to as many people as u can on linkedin
remember, its not your fault you got laid off
so dont take it out on yourself
blame capitalism
wtf
hm thats weird
Shit company don’t interview there
lol i wouldn't really take that into account tbh
im getting rejected from no name companies for junior positions but somehow managed to get a response from asus and epic systems
i think its just a combination of luck depending on who views ur resume
yeah u for sure still need a good resume tho
I have a solid resume, solid exp, hardly any replies just a shit market rn
with some solid description on ur experience and projects
I can send you my resume if you care to look at it
and after that its just a numbers game and gotta make sure u can perform if someone does reach out
May 2022 lol
Took a bit of a break post grad, then current job recession hit
Yeah
I had interned as a swe every summer since I was a sophomore in hs and was like I can take a few months before starting
Just so unlucky
ah yeah that kinda sucks
maybe try reaching out to some of ur old internship connections and seeing if any of them will hire u back
One of them I'd have to move where I don't want to if I wanted to return there, the other only has them in trash locations
I think with that in mind though you should still reach out to your old connections
Assuming they're better than this company
I definitely reach out to them all
Location is important, yes, but so is getting a job in this market
And this market is ROUGH rn
yeah in this economic climate, u gotta just get a job
and if u really are unhappy with it, u can keep applying
^^
I'm in NY and worked remote at GE for my last internship, the only role they have available is in Waukesha, WI and they have no relocation lmao
but at least have something u can fall back on
relocating isnt that bad, u can always go back after a year or 2
I'm reaching out to people to try and find something to do contract based or anything atm I can't just take any job
gotta just get the experience and wait out the tech winter
I mean you should take it still. It's close to Milwaukee which may not be in NY, but GM is a great company regardless
unless it's not the work that you want to do
I'll reach back out to my GE hiring manager in any case
I already did but will follow back up
Usually they'll expedite or rehire from what I've heard.
(can't speak much on whether that's confirmed since I'm trying to do that with my original team rn but doesnt hurt to try)
Yeah that's definitely the case, I did not enjoy what I worked on at GE but money is money plus it's a household name
We'll see
Understandable. I'd recommend reaching out anyhow
When do you apply to jobs like Google or FAANG? Like for 2024 would you apply in august 2023? What is timeline like
Yes you would apply in August~September
Bet thanks
anyone heard from snap up?
Use ChatGPT for cover letter
yup
been using that
keep the tab open and just modify the job description to recreate using the job details
@chilly burrow where ru working rn
student
np 👍
All new grad? I can't even find 30 new grad postings a day
ye jr/entry/new grad positions
use indeed or linkedin and filter it
just search up software engineer new grad
Posted recently?
i set it to like posted within the last week
yeah same, but it doesnt have to even be within past week
just apply to any thats up
the more the better
but you can change that based on how often youre searching so you dont get many overlaps if you that everyday
I see I see
what tech stack is commonly used for cross platform mobile app dev?
React Native or Flutter afaik
Plus Firebase
What companies do you think have easier interviews
fidelity
Insurance, defense, banking
anyone here have 1point3acres?
Did you hear back from them?
i never applied
Do you know anyone that heard back
no
For May 2023 grads, are y’all also applying to junior roles atm?
yes
what junior roles, i see none
I see a bunch of associate/junior roles on LinkedIn requiring 0-1 years of experience
i see none
where are you located though
East coast
well that boils it down
a lot of game/entertainment companies have some open
Im not looking at roles in my city, most are based in CA or WA
alrighty
Bruh how hard is it to land a full time as a new grad with only intern experience as an international. It’s literally Fkin impossible
Any resume feedback would be greatly appreciated: https://discord.com/channels/698366411864670250/1078545601551159426
if ur having trouble with a resume like that we're all screwed
What are some example LinkedIn queries that yield these jobs? I filter by entry level but I don’t see many junior roles
LinkedIn doesn’t tag some of them right. I’ve been looking at certain companies and have alerts set up too. Activision, Disney, and Nintendo are some examples of companies I’ve seen with associate roles open rn
Yeah fr your resume looks really good!
Cool projects
goated website
did everyone else also figure out how to see the high-res screenshots without paying?

burg
Id like u to mee my friend

thanks for introducing me @rain patio
@pine topaz
its Friday
and?
I am reporting this to your manager
its not your resume my brother , its the market
😭
Take a break dude. You've worked hard enough already, you deserve it.
This is Comcast, not Meta
Your mom misses you
touch grass
wtf why is the pay range for that cohesity position way lower than anything they have on levels
I'm trying to jump to meta dummy
Hello, anyone know anything about Antra, Inc? Please DM me. I want some information.
They have some loop holes
Afaik google gives a big ass pay range cuz they include all regions
They dont want to exactly give that region’s pay range.
But use levels.fyi. Never trust what company gives out
i feel like it hurts them lol their range is 60-88
but levels has them at 125 base in san jose
once you have a promotion youll have more freedom
itll be epic
where do you see the salary for new grad devops engineer on levels?
just looking at swe bc i’m pretty sure they fall under the same bucket of MTS
never heard of a tech company paying less for devops lol
there's a separate job posting for SDET and the range goes up to 110k
you’re right that’s wild wtf
idk why #grad_postings_old didnt pick it up tho
The job market is rough rn
What would you do in a situation where you’re not happy at your job and wanna make the move?
coast at work if you can and grind LC + system design, more YoE always makes job hopping easier
Ya I’m 6 months in rn
I’d say at least get 1 tho most places need 2/3+
isnt it much better to job hop when you are mid (i.e 2), esp at this amrket
i hear people sayign 1 yoe and NG are roughly the same
yea they’re
but Ive seen ppl with 1 yoe getting L4 offers
if they perform really well in the interview and are a good fit for the position
It also depends on how much @rain patio dislikes his current job lol
is having 2 internships in the same time period a bad thing? I volunteered at a different place at the last few months of my internship; would having two of them on resume turn off recruiters?
thanks
Was it volunteer work or an internship?
And did both companies know that you were doing 2 internships
volunteer and no
Yeah then I don't see any problem if it was just volunteer work, that would go in "Extra curricular" instead of work experience
yeah don't put in workex
ah okay, thanks

Nah, that stuff looks good
I like gaslighting and moonlighting
Nah disagree
Esp if you don't have prev exp (or much) putting volunteering exp makes u seem like a well-rounded individual
Is yakuna the love of ur life
as an Eagle Scout i have so much volunteer stuff
Hello sir
no you are
i learned to value myself as a human being and see myself as someone dserving of love and respect. I will no longer tolerate unhealthy and co-dependant relationships in my further pursuit of loving myself and growing my happiness.

make this gif an emote

Guys, how long does it usually take to get OPT approved by USCIS? and how long does it take to get the physical card after the approval?
https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ says 2mo now (I guess they got a lot of requests lately)
about a week between approval and card delivery
anyone done mathworks technical interview, the 1 hour with an engineer? im wondering what its like
mine is for intern but i think its the same process
you got any offer?
Yea signed an offer last December
Duolingo🦉
Is 2 sigma hiring new grads?
i imagine they've been done for a while
No for swe
DUO LINGOOOOO
Congrats!
best of luk 🙏
Tyty
ayye nice!
Best of luck!
Thank you
I'm not sure how it went; could've gone either way
just wrapped it up
Seemed like a fairly neutral interview ngl
Stressed Java and why I wanted to work at Veeva, but the role question caught me off guard (what are you looking for in multiple offers). I said COL as well as rigor
I had Veeva. (1 behavioral, 1 OA, 3 hr tech + behavioral + resume, 1 final). Rejected after final.
hugs are welcome.
emoji hugs only.
thats fked up Man U should sue for wasted time
lol
How did you get rejected? Call?
UMich CS peeps cracked at LC ? , so many of them interned at HFT's damnnn
one profile i saw interned at Jane Street , HRT and IMC 💀
Just an email.
Probably because I’m not a leetcode monkey
hard school to get into
esp cs program
their BS seems competitive AF
i see
If the MS is competitive then the BS is also competitive
but that profile was nuts man , i mean bro made a bank before even graduating
has any of u guys taken the epic assessment?
I remember having my eyes glued to grad cafe
i heard the passing rate is like 3% or somethin lol
I see this adds another data point since Veeva has nothing online
Thanks for the answer
I heard that epics OA UI is shit from second hand reviews
are you a grad student @stone granite ?
I didn’t apply because they don’t take internationals
Yea I came straight from my bachelors
i see
Because I didn’t know whether to do a PhD or work
But now I want to work and maybe later do a PhD
Send me a request, I’ll accept it
sent
Be prepared for a long assessment. There's like 4 tests, 3 of them are IQ/behavioral-related. And the last one (which is the longest) is a coding one with no IDE. You solve like 2-3 coding problems in a plain text box.
did u take it?
cuz what language is the coding section in?
Yeah. You can use whatever language you want - it's not like there's test cases to pass or anything lol. It's literally just a plain text box to type into.
Link to the epic position?

Thanks dude!!
ye gl bro
lol why does that listing say bellevue
thats where im from
i dont think they have a location here
but they are just recruiting from here and shipping u over to the middle of nowhere wisconsin if they end up hiring u
unless they do have a location in washington
im only in the beginning stages of the interview so im not too familiar yet
Disjoint sets
end world hunger, also please know react
@atomic oxide did u get an offer from Epic systems?
Yo am I reading this right? How does studying from UW Madison make you eligible for sponsorship?
I think they just have a bias for UW-Madison students, their ceo graduated from there and they hire a lot of students out of UW-Madison
Oh man that’s unfortunate
u international?
Yeah
dang better enroll in UW-Madison then
The things we gotta do to land a good paying job here 💀
is this company affiliated with uw-madison?
that's weird
Is Figma still hiring new grads?
actually it might be the partnership thing that amazon and NEU has
like they make application links specifically for the MSCS program at NEU
do you guys tweak your resume for every position you apply to?
yeah lol thats a hell no for me too
gotta just get a best working version of it
and play the numbers game
no ones got time to tweak their resume for a company that is going to reject them anyways
Are you from NEU?
I have 2. One for SWE and another for ML, DS, DE
But there isn’t a significant difference apart from the projects. I’m not sure how effective it is
Nope dropped out of the process once I had to schedule a 3 hour block for the final
ah kk, would u say the assessment was hard?
It's a pretty standard OA that you'd get from any other company with a much longer time limit but no IDE or test cases to be passed
Also, I didn't think I did that well but still got moved on
I know that getting an A for the Algo course at NEU CS would kinda guarantee a place at Amazon last year or so
yeah thats what i hear a lot of people say when they talked about their assessment
Who’s given the OA?
Idk check in #2023_grad_process
How long ago did you hear after
?
I had recruiter call and oa last week
not trying to be a marketing puppet for them if they reject me
I remember Reddit said that "they were humbled by the sheer amount of applications" right after they said "we aren't moving you forward in my application"
Whoever wrote that rejection email has the same amount of social awareness as the average redditor
Any place to look for opportunities? Friend said contract work, but I’m still learning new stacks and stuff and I don’t think I could provide enough quality for stuff like that.
I got a few interviews lined up, but I fear that I need to keep grabbing more to be secure.
I’m damn tired of reading, “we’re moving with other candidates who meet our requirements more closely”
I have at least 600 of those.
Same. Like it's actually ridiculous now how you can have all the requirements for an entry level position yet someone else has 1 more yoe than you
They invited me to a final round interview about a week after I finished the OA
what made you not want to work at epic?
People are struggling now while we have been struggling since July last year
Rejection emails is part of my experience now
Personally I didn't bother with Epic because of shitty location (Wisconsin) as well as some proprietary language they use, also bad things about their culture/WLB
yeah its better than nothing tho
and as for me personally, im not someone that cares about WLB
as long as they pay well, work me idgaf
True, I'm in the privileged position where I can afford to be picky as I'm living with my parents and have money saved up
but yeah i've heard their tech stack is very specific to their company
but ive also read some reviews about people moving over to fang companies after like 2 years
they said it may narrow ur chances for smaller companies that are looking for a SWE with a specific tech stack but at fanng they just try to look for smart engineers and dont care as much about tech stack
Yeah honestly it doesn't really matter where, as long as you have the experience and LC then you can get into FAANG (under normal market conditions)
and yeah if i found someplace in washington I would def rather stay in washington
but....wisconsin pay of 120k base doesnt seem too bad either
It's a very good salary
low COL
then ill try my luck at fanng after a year or 2
whats considered low?
like 500?
Why were all my linkedin easy apply s viewed all at once?
Is there a delay between actually viewing the application and the notification?
I don't know, but many people can't afford to be too picky
oh i got a instant codesignal invitation from them already
Codesignal is auto oa
oh nice u take it yet?
Oh ight, thx
I applied too but I didn’t get anything
I think I got ghosted then
@night marsh oh u also applied to epic systems?
I didn't apply
how come?
I already hav an offer
Yeah
I took it last Tuesday
oh dang nice!
some people said it took 3 weeks to hear response
some like a couple days, so u still have hope
I got an offer at a company at a location I've always wanted to explore halfway through the Epic process. That combined with the stories my friend at U-Wisc told me and the really long OA and interview made me opt out.
I've always been someone who would rather be able to explore a new place and the outdoors while I can than just make a lot of money...at least for the first few years
Thank you dude
yep
i am tired of life

all this grind and all i get is "thank you for your time , but we have move forward with other candidates"
I have never enjoyed life and missed out on a lot of things only because of my dreams and ambitions . its frustrating to face such situation where you grind the f out every fucking day , exhaust your mind body and soul so much only to get fucking rejected . fuck covid fuck this economy , fuck all of this .
worked my ass off during internship , to even clear the interview only to get a shit manager who didn't even bat an eye to the work i did and then outright reject me from giving a rto . i left no margin for error . there were days i used to work 12-15 hours , it was all i dreamt of when i landed here to pursue what i had always wished for and imagined. all went down in vain , it still hurts .
hi sorry I was busy all day today and forgot to reply. thank you for the reply, I'll do a lil digging about them and see what fits my idea better
Who are these candidates man
new grads are literally competing with recently laid off recent grads now
Literally, it’s fucked
Tech is collapsing tbh
New grads are adding up
The situation is already bad
But the supply is still increasing fast while I don't see the demand showing any sign of recovery
If that new about Meta going to layoff 11k more is true, then we are fucked beyond imaginable
I’m saying like in general a lot of the stability in the tech cos is kinda gone
Like goog is cutting corners left and right to try to avoid layoffs round 2
If you told me a year ago that I’d be concerned with the future of google as a company I’d have laughed at you but now it grows more uncertain
Bro im doing laundry fuck off @pulsar mural
I started at 12
Dryer is almost done you horny fuck
Projecting ahh
It's the worst year to be a new grad, but the interviewers are not showing any kind of mercy. They reject even after doing well in interview.
I sincerely hope you are right, because it implies that 2024 would be a better year
yes it will be better, but tech in general has lost its stability and with chatGPT, future is really unpredictable.
Thanks for the reassurance, its already terrible to live in a bad situation, but it would be even more depressing if the worst hasn't even happened, lol
yeah and also laid off peeps on visa like H1B or F1 OPT , don't have their clocks started until the last day of their severance.
so they got time till severance + the countdown . so for example a laid off GOOG person has 12 weeks + 60 days(if h1) or 90 days(if opt)

not throwing shade or denouncing empathy , but when they make a post mentioning that they got only 60 days to find something , in actual reality its not 60 its severance + 60
Those people will eventually find a job anyway, lmao
even they are struggling , my friend has had only 1 phone screen since 10 days
he is from GOOG
They don't want their TC to go down to 200k from 400k
idc about the money now , i just want to maintain my status post graduation . that has become a priority now
Isn't that the goal of 99% NGs?
Staying unemployed after graduation - have an offer on hand when graduating
Only 1% elites they look for higher, like Quant, FAANG, etc...
if I had to do the stuff H1B people have to do i would literally give up out of stress
It's frustrating for sure. There's so much supply bc of new grads, the market is so damn competitive rn bc of layoffs, and comp is getting lower while COL is getting higher
The scary point is there are more and more NG graduating every few months.....
I'm still working on grinding leetcode & projects I don't graduate until December. I am hoping my summer internship gives me a return offer though.
Yeah exactly. That's something else altogether. Next szn will still be very very competitive because of how many NGs from previous seasons
Holy shit this year is hell
job
@timber rock is south london filled with gangs?
i have seen memes on it being unsafe and plagued with crime.
everyone and their mothers are waiting for ng 2024 💀
even if you delay graduation , its of no use. this year is fucked
ev0s y u bully

No lmao
It's a relatively safe city especially when u compare to american cities
24 mins , 63 apps already . god have some mercy on us
probably 20 masters and maybe 5 phds in there too
And 20 of them are from T10 institutions
Dapper labs laid off 20%
I'm waiting for new grad 2024
when can we get a 24 new grad channel 😔
what if i start as a SDET , will it be easy to switch to a SDE role in future?
i think generally people say "not hard" but probably not easy
but its still agood option
but then will i be able to switch to SDE roles?
i mean its technically tester/QA role sugarcoated as SDET

interally no clue, depends on the company. youd probably have to job hop to switch
I don't think that I can get a job in 2024 either, lol, looking for the 2025 NG channel
it's gonna be an uphill climb but you will have the chance to get to SDE
main problem is that you're gonna fall behind relative to people within your year who already are SDEs
Tbh I'd be very insecure about the idea of falling behind my peers
but if you can at least get into SDET or QA I think you should do it if it gives you sponsorship
From the newest edition of my Command Line newsletter, which just hit inboxes for paid subscribers: Meta is planning another round of layoffs, I can unfortunately confirm. Leadership has been coy both internally and externally about what is coming, but I’m told that the current plan is to announce more cuts in March after last year’s performanc...
im legit gonna cry if the entire industry follow suit with round 2 of layoffs
I applied for ms lol
As soon as i get an acceptance I’m gonna give up on the job search
yes. but if you have say 2 years of sdet experience you're probably not going to transfer to an equivalent experienced sde role
this
that would be so stupid and show the greed in this industry. Zuck blew million on the metaverse so he can have an excuse, but not every company needs to do another round except for cost cutting to bump the stock price
i mean if its to maximize profits, i wouldnt be suprised
i don't want to go back home , i have a big loan on my head 😭 . back home it would take me lot of years to payback . FML , i have never been so stressed in my life . its very very very hard to stay sane and not panic
FUCK METAVERSE , i can make a better shit than it using Unity
well it needs to be in my field , where can i find SWE/Tech volunteering work

oh i see , thanks
ik 😭
Have backup plan
ur fine man
staying calm minded is a powerful skill

keep networking and seeing what kind of jobs you can pick up that'd give u a visa
at this point i only care about maintaining status , jobs are bleak af out there . i am ready to even work for free for sometime .
This isn’t true I know someone laid off from zon who’s trying to get any swe job rn and is struggling
yeah, which is why you fall behind
you downlevel or stay at the equivalent level
which once again beats nothing
beats being deported or being unemployed for too long
The big brain play is to get married to an American or just stay illegally 🧠
Finding a partner to marry is harder than landing faang offer
should have invested those student loans into leg lengthening, steroids, plastic surgery, and dick lengthening programs tbh
That way ez partner to marry and ez green card

saying as if wooing is easy
Anyone have any experience with H&R Block Associate SWE interview process?
We should make a marriage channel as I suggested before
do companies hand pick certain questions for code signal or is it all random?
i think that might depend on the company
out of pure curiousity what location is this
kc?
Tbf most don't try hard enough
Yes. I believe thats the only location IIRC
gotcha ok. sry i cant help i just know a few people who interned with them last year
and i know the lead architect of their building
Did they enjoy interning there? And did they relocate to KC?
im moving to downtown KC to work for my summer internship
Guys should I include my current volunteer SWE work in my resume whilst searching for jobs? I don’t want employers to think why am I looking to switch jobs or something idk but at the same time it’ll add more exp
they all went to a school nearby and either lived at home or found a place for the summer
but yeah i think they liked it, seemed pretty lowkey with lots of events
ya idk why but KC companies like to do events often lol.
nice who with
A mid-size trucking software company called Shamrock Trading
yes it’s closed
Thanks for the info!
oh cool i know a few business ppl who just started there
for those of u who have received an offer, do u guys think 110k for first job in the bay is fair for nontech company?
in this economy i would do all kinds of stuff for a 110k offer
if that's ur only offer i suggest to just take it and then keep applying if ur really unhappy with the job
or tell them ur concerns and try to negotiate a slightly higher salary
💀
I suggest to take it up without much negotiation. If you don’t like the role or money, just use it as a kind of pit stop and keep on hunting for jobs.
