i would unironically apply but i know i would fail and with my luck they would reopen before my cooldown is up
hirevue coding is so bad
google taiwan has abysmally low salary compared to america
unemployment is harder
i dont understand the formatting
i cant parse the input lmao rip
Are they even hiring for new grads?
They are
I have no idea what im doing in life lmao
I just know I want to do code stuff
no idea what within software engineering i want to work on
Crossroads between backend/distributed/cloud and game engine dev
this is normal for new grads right
Recruiter called yesterday after about 1 week after my final interview and said “I know it’s right before the holidays but I wanted to let you know we made the decisions and are going to be moving on w other candidates” 🎅🎄
What company😬
name and shame
not like we can do anything about it tbh
but name and shame anyways
i heard abt 120k or so tc
good for middle of nowhere midwest
i mean i cant confirm since i didnt apply
Madison is not middle of nowhere
what round?
does anyone have an offer they dont want that i can have?
quite normal imo. I have no clue either
yeah bro its a town of 400 ppl smh
you are not alone mate
A village, honestly
idk if it's name and shame worthy but mathworks recruiter called me today to reject. my onsite was on 11/18 lmao
called me out of nowhere 3 days before christmas ffs it's so weird
Call to reject?
Honestly I'd just disconnect immediately after they say reject
It's a waste of time to call to reject
yeah. he called to explain that the delay was due to volume of applications
and thanksgiving holidays
Like mask off you don't respect me so I have no reason to give you respect either
it was an incredibly awkward 95 second phone call lmao
blocked the number
I got rejected after behavioral screening before the on-site
I think my recruiter wanted to say keep an eye out we post more opportunities but I cut him off and said thank you for the update
and disconnected
Lmao
theyre lucky to even show up on a map
you high brother
ok yes technically Epic is in Verona, which is just west of Madison, but even that has a population of 13,166
yes it is
cmon now i was joking
Hey for those who went through NG interview process this last year - was DP a common theme? Or more so other topics? Grinding out lc for the ng season and just wanted to prepare properly
not uncommon ime
got it at expedia and bloomberg
I c I c, okay thanks!
I got DP for OAs
hmm yeah, those companies make sense. Got rejected at OA for a lot of those companies tbh, so grinding lc to prep for ng 😓
update your software techboy
I need to download a new update damn
join the dark side and just memorise the solutions for common dp questions without actually understanding how to do dp 😈

my memory capacity is not high enough for that
and my memory clears itself every like 2 weeks

Memorize it enough and you learn it naturally
pretty much

DP is uncommon IMO
I never bothered to learn it
Throughout my entire time doing intern and new grad recruiting
Most prominent is tree / graphs, array / string problems
Never even had a linked list problem either
I've found that a lot of companies are doing API coding and OOD this year
Not a lot of LC
Debugging also very common for final rounds
that's kinda pog ngl - I'd take that over LC any day tbh
Just do the medium dp problems
I agree, seems like LC is being used less and less thankfully
Fr
yea i got this at optiver and some smaller companies
Ood
For API coding I had a lot of experience from prev internships.
OOD is pretty simple as well
Just following good practices
I've also found that interviewers like if u know the language well. So if ur using python, always type hint and try to use "pythonic" syntax
#2023_grad_process filled with Affirm rejects lmao they sent that shit out to everyone today?
I guess they mass rejected
merry christmas
affirm DN
I don’t have affirm reject. I feel left out now.
I also have no idea if I even applied for it.
@pulsar mural
Flexport loves hybrid OOD/lc questions in my experience

I think the rub with DP is the time investment is better spent elsewhere depending on where your start point is.
Do for me this recruiting season was pretty prevalent I got asked DP for a lot of OAs and for rounds at Pinterest and Flexport live interviews.
yeah this is my thoughts too, I'm lacking in LC in general so I wanted to prioritize the more "important" topics than getting starting with DP.
But if DP was super prevalent - then I would've just had to grind everything from top to bottom lol
Dw
Also a hack with DP once you get farther in your prep is if you know backtracking you can grok top down DP without too much overhead. I would completely ignore bottom up unless you are just out of topics to cover
youll be fine they dont care
@teal jackal
Employers don’t care and even ones that do only ask for 3.5 or up usually
is there any case of a company actually rescinding after sending the transcript?
and the gradess are dogshit
Depends on school lol my shitty state school is a joke
LOl
at least for me, I am terrible at school related stuff
even if its super easy
I graduated with a 3.15
Nah i think you did the right thing. You might never use the material from that class but if you ever need it you will be really thankful you took that class
while people get weeded out at first at my college, the intro classes being weeders is REALLY overstated and they aren't that bad, from there on out there's a lot of classes where they grade on completion(most classes are project based)
and a lot of classes scale
Grad school peeps might be able to chime in. No difference imo for jobs
I just basically just fucked up a bunch of final exams
which in some cases was worth 20-30% of the course grade
3.5GPA is nothing where I'm from
My gpa got damaged this semester too. 3.8 to 3.6 thanks to math req
Class wasn’t even bad just didn’t really try bc i hate math
I bet most of you are Asian,
B is failing
I have 3.92 but my school gpa is inflated af
sheesh
Nah son cis white male in the house
cis?
How do you think i got a job
Tbh i don’t know what cis means I’ve just heard it in reference to regular white guts
sorry I am still learning the new gender terms, new one every day lmao
It’s a twitter lingo
Yeah same lol
That’s brutal lol
I’m nervous for my next semester i have OS and Networking. But like I just need D’s to graduate but still at least i will get to code a lot in OS
Even if it’s in god awful C
cum laude
i just want cum on my diploma

Got to grind for the cum
It was carnage at the airport today
I just landed waiting for my ride but the storm fucked up so many peoples Christmas it was legit sad checking in bag hearing other people
EWR is garbo

I hate that airport with passion
yeah but its a cheap hub for United
Tru
I rarely spend much time in the airport
I try to arrive 20min before boarding
Granted I have TSA Pre-check and am a United Premier Gold Member
Nice flex

Oracle ghosted my scheduled recruiter call
Delayed my graduation to do two more internship after new grad offer rescinded

I hope one of them will convert to full time offer
If not I will apply to new grad jobbb next year early
Offer rescinding really do mess me up

yeah
gotta go touch grass today and see what its like

grass is not real

its a fake myth created by LC grinders to reduce competition
dont be fooled brother
hop on lintcode
tf is lintcode

bootleg mf
just get google translate
you know Chinese
😈
sheesh
u dont need to
good life skill
just feel it out by intuition
it's sorted by default
I mean sorted by insertion
ordered dick?
c++ map uses a red/black tree
lmfao
thats nlogn each call
which works if u pre-process
but
if u need real time sorted order
it becomes N^2logn if u sort each time u need the order (for the whole array, assuming u sort each time)
and thats no dinero
just use JavaScript
Fidelity SWE LEAP program
if only
I guess you want a sorted map in python
python had a sortedcontainers built in collection
yes
like treemap in java or std::map
is it a common use case?
there is no lc problem or interview where you will be allowed to use a sorted dict
there is
In interviews, you can always assume you have access to a sorted set/sorted map
you can make a dict and then transform it into a sorted collection
Fidelity SWE LEAP program. The feedback was my programming knowledge was good but lacked in networking tools.
If we want to further name and shame, it was a stupid 21 questions type of interview like he was reading off flashcards, not really about problem solving. My interviewer never started off asking the "tell me about yourself, why fidelity...." he just started asking questions off his sheet and hit a point he was like oh wait I need to see ur resume…. So he obviously didn’t care about the being there interviewing me.
Double sucks bc I was using this interview process for confidence and to feel better about myself about a few final round rejects from tech heavy companies earlier this semester (BB, G, Expedia), which now I guess I don’t even meet the banking bar… rip. And even worse when the HR person called to reject she stressed how entry level this position was so that made me feel like shit 😢
ttl lru cache
or maintain ordering via some adjacent data structure
Kirb
i REALLY don't think an interviewer will just let you import a sorted dict
i just don't
u can possibly do it with heap
why are fulltimers in the ng channel
or they will handwave away that possibility
krib is my zuck brother who survived

u lived brother
hey this is yak's emote
metamates died so others could live
cant steal that

@pulsar mural
we watch over you in heaven
@pulsar mural
we watch over u in heaven
?
ignore, was talking to kirb

My understanding was that they are uncommon enough across languages or new-ish features that a lot of interviewers will just say "ok assume you don't have it"
there is a module
for python
sortedcontainers
really?
but yeah I think Promo within 4 months
I know they exist, i'm just pretneding to talk to you as a hardass interviewer
if ur a hardass interviewer
like why
i always see this in lc discuss forums lol when somebody tries using built-in sorted dict
"bro they won't let you do this"
I would say it's a tiny minority unless the problem is to reimplement the underlying data-structure
and assert dominance
An ordered map based on a B-Tree.
do you guys know how a sorted set is implemented?
there's really only one problem i've encountered where u need a sorted dict
to actually have short code thats somewhat optimal

its the companys fault this time
not yours
balanced tree
i think
I've encountered multiple problems requiring a sorted set for an optimal solution, but it's like around 1-2% of problems
iirc, you implement it with an AVL-tree/BST of arrays
where each index maps to element
not avl

avl performance not good
red/black better
cuz its not fully balanced
so its faster
non trivial, read that linked rust tree data structure, i am too dumb
cuz u dont have to re-balance each time per-se
ty i needed that, really unsure whats going to be left when Jan starts
implementing a b tree in school is prob not even close to real production
oh ya i was joking i would never try to implement a damn balanced tree in interview
cuz i think it's optimal for small data sets
I heard Jane Street used to ask this in an interview
you can find the problem on LC?
tree
tbh is rare they enforce those
I will tell you about a new redacted coming out redacted, its about redacted and redacted
The worst is to get blacklisted by the firm I guess
I mean companies in general
@pulsar mural pls confirm u received my message here

anyone?
MIT's opencourseware is in python
their intro to DSA, not sure about their other DSA
@pulsar mural what are you getting everyone for christmas

how much should a data engineer offer be for a top 150 company?
in cali near by area
how do you even define the top 150 lol
Tier lists don’t even include 150 companies
any good tutorials for learning golang from scratch?
ty
Anyone did fidelity leap (not interview process) ?
@pulsar mural
In February 2022, we promised a drive to Taco Bell by the end of the year. Today, we're delivering on that promise.

And I’m still getting rej
Fk hdc and this recruiting season
Fk headcount
same
Legit had a company tell me I was in the top 10 out of over 1.2k candidates but sorry we're only hiring 4 people
@pulsar mural EL PACHITI
what do you mean by sus?
what do you mean by top 150? unless you're talking about from the f500
and there's no general metric
Kia, goated automaker
sounds like a newbie question but I am one... what would yall do different if you were a freshman in college rn 🤔? which languages would you prefer to learn?
💀💀💀💀
is dis for real
to understand CS better or to just switch ??
hmmm which type like calculus or probability?
our uni is teaching C++ and Java
I guess am on the right path
hmm interesting 🤔
yea I was learning python and half way through someone told me to just.... not ?
Pick a popular language and become proficient in it. Not just to the level of being able to complete assignments but actual, full-fledged projects from scratch (start with small projects and build up ofc).
Also as soon as you finish your first data structures & algorithms course, start Leetcoding. It's much better to be prepared for interviews ahead of time so you're not floundering during courses + internship search.
Also look into the early degree opportunities the big tech companies offer (Microsoft aspire, FB university, Google STEP etc.). It's an easier way to break into FAANG early
yea I was told that leetcoding early is important so I'll definitely keep an eye out for that one
also what's an early degree opportunity?? I sound like a noob I kn
do companies higher you while your in college???
hire*
ohhhh okok
dang I'll look into it more
the LC tends to be easier than what they ask juniors/seniors as well
Defs get comfortable with mediums tho
Based and fraud pilled
@dim pulsar Oh also this is more lifestyle advice but incorporate healthy habits. You want to maximize mental + physical health because it'll give you a big boost in the grind.
Good sleep, diet, exercise and meditation (if so inclined but defs the first three)
I'll keep that in my head, already go to the gym but I'll incorporate the others into my daily as well
Good luck on the grind my friend
thanks friend 😌🫂
background check though
anyone have experience with starlink beam test
dm me
Phone
Anyone do the Tiktok OA?
pause amazon portal??
what's that 🤔
and faking graduation date, as in just applying when in junior year... is it possible to have that much expirence with language and programming to apply to confidently ?
hmm I'll keep this in mind better get on the leetcode ig 🤔
150 is low for Bay Area right
It’s low for FAANG+, but probably slightly above the median
how long do u guys wait before sending a follow up email after an interview
At least a week
which one of you fuckers is this
What shall we expect in Problem Solving Interview for Walmart SDE Full time?
LMFAOO
me
Wouldn't do much I think
I actually graduated this December but im doing an internship this January before starting FT in May
My BGC cleared
i think for grad date, unless you actually got the degree, you can easily just fake
for my school you had to submit an application for graduation and if you didnt, you can either just enroll in classes or can apply for grad in the next group
Yeah extra cash + it's remote so more time in canada before I have to move to usa
does anyone know if square has any entry level positions?
not atm
Not doing new grad but said upon successful completion of an internship I could come back as a new grad end of this year or something
So you basically need to be grandfathered in
(I've already signed new grad so I won't be accepting square's potential new grad offer)
Round 1 or round 2
so the HC isn't full?
Not for London at least
Networking tools?
That's dumb, the Fidelity job description doesn't mention networking tools knowledge required anywhere, besides we can pick up that on the job. And I hate those types of interviews too where they rapid fire ask you trivia type questions. Don't let that discourage you though, some interviewers just suck.
Hello everyone. I'm moving to Princeton (08540) for work from January 2023 to May 2023. I'm looking for a place under $1000 a month. I'm open to sharing the apartment or room with another girl. Please let me know if you're subletting your apartment or know anyone who's looking for a roommate in this area. I would really appreciate any help. Please DM.
I’m assuming if u were able to find some Princeton based server, maybe another comp sci server, u could put word out better
Idk if any of the Locations channels will help
Any Princeton based server links?
i got rejected early october for full hc. and then oct 19th i got texted by a recruiter asking if i was still interested
i said no bc i already had an offer but idk if that was bc of enough renegs or not enough offers accepted or added hc
who knows
Fidelity made me feel special when they texted me
No that was in the past, I told them to close my app and remove me from consideration
Any hope to get a job by april folks?
Yes
I think/pray some companies will open up new grad opportunities by Jan
Because they will have a better idea of new grad head count
I'm counting on it, it should happen at some companies at least
lol no entry level jobs at mang?
Not really
A few, but there's such little headcount
can you share example
i did not manage to find anything
entry leve;
or university graduate
Tbh this may b da only 1
Has anyone worked with PySpark? If yes then is there some pre-req to learn it?
Yep they will re count all teams and see openings tbh
I hope this actually happens and isn't just hopium
it makes sense who knows if companies will follow through
yeah but I can already see nothing changing in January tbh. the only thing that will happen is that companies that paused for the break will pick back up
what about smaller companies that never opened
unless you were waitlisted most HR departments aren’t organized to keep a backlog
they just put a job posting up and you’ll probably have to reapply
does having work experience have an edge in the current market?
has an edge in every market, the only really bad off people are the ones with under 3 yoe or so i think
2 years is fine
Plenty of swe jobs for mid level starting at 2 years
I think 1 year experience is the toughest spot
I did, for 3 months,
I would say you will be fine
As prereq, Python and some concepts of datasets, apache spark architecture, and of course, databases queries
If you don't know python you can do the same stuff and maybe even more with Scala
Any one got Zoom Resume screening call?
damn pls teach me this art
really? in my experience at least background checks don't take THAT long
there might be some exceptions but for the vast majority of people it should be fast enough
interviewing probably takes way more time in most cases
I mean someone trying to find a job with 1 prior internship is better off than someone with 0
I am good in python , have sound knowledge of SQL . would that be suffice?
knowing lambda functions with python is pretty helpful too
and things like maps, filters, flatmaps
bit of functional programming
Anyone know anythin about palantir product reliablity engineer new grad process?
It's not abt them increasing headcount per se
A lot of companies didn't hire ng at all this year
And ppl hope/think that by next year they'll get a better idea of potential head count so will allocate some spots for new grad
Ex. Airbnb, Dropbox
Airbnb had new grad
Well I’m not going to say they’re finished all hiring but they had apps up in May
does anyone know if walmart does drug tests, especially for the bentonville location 💀
I received response in august I think
In May? Goddamn thats early.
Yeah. Seemed limited, I declined though
I went to an event in Sept
Where an Airbnb rep said they'd open apps in late Sept
So I thought they just never opened
Merry Christmas from London!

this is the most devastating thing i've ever heard
fb intern -> got a return offer (only like 10% of interns did) -> it got rescinded
Worst part is the timing esp now
dude recruiting season is alr over
Nobody hiring anymore p much
Is there any 1 percent hiring
i honestly have no idea
i've run dry
i passed literally the last interview i had
and since then, no one has reached out to me for more interviews
like i thought optimistically i'd get someone emailing me for an interview to which i would decline but literally i'm dry
Same I failed everything including finals
only last hope is waiting to hear back from 1 place
bloom?
Nah a gov job
I’ve literally aced all my interviews
enjoy your christmas people it will get better
And still got rejected everywhere
yeah jan/feb more wil open up
Even in canada? I just hope they wont layoff more lol
How many other people are in your new grad class?
no fuckin way meta rescinded the GE returns bruh
actual rip
for the offer i signed?
or like
school graduation class
i am now seriously considering contract jobs to stop my unemployment days post graduation if i don’t get anything .

Happy Christmas ⛄ 🎄
Idt it’s all
Maybe it depends on how critical the org is
Or is it all?
🤷♂️
For ramp
I mean majority of hiring happens in fall and spring
It’ll be slow til feb
Oh okay. Why would he make a YouTube video to give everyone a scare though ?
$$$
Yea that’s fair
Can you share what that message was?
He said "there's more to this story" that he'll reveal in the future. Wouldn't surprise me if Meta saw something in his YouTube channel they didn't like and rescinded it because of that.
Let’s not push for this just out of respect for privacy etc
but yeah for any meta interns reading this was one-off
There’s a lot of haters online who will throw others under the bus
It’s why i havent wanted to self dox either despite the clout boost for handsome + good mod + kirb350 creator
Yea I definitely wouldn’t give up my own business
Can't, it's buried under the snow
Yeah you should
Gotta stay employed and maintain legal presence somehow
i think he had a coinbase return offer iirc
but that was a while ago maybe he rejected for meta
They're staying afloat
Did they mad layoffs earlier this year
I'm surprised robinhood is alive
same
Wish is practically on life support
@pulsar mural
You are everywhere

@pulsar mural
It can be if you want it to
need a good week
After New Years

Interview this quick into new year? Absolute Chad
yeah
and
well
i need to hear back from a place
im hoping they'll get back to me this week
I doubt it tbh @lament basin
With the holidays, basically everyone is not working this week
you’d be surprised
thing is people might work but it'd probably be low productivity and also understaffed workforce
but yeah regardless good luck this week
who are you expecting to hear back from btw
patreon
it's fine
in fact
it shows you're able to discover and fix bugs on your own
which is a valuable datapoint in an interview
i highly doubt you're expected to write bug-free code in one go without ever running your code
Everyone on vacation man
Sorry
Gonna be a dry week
nah i think one email will slide thru
Renege MSFT for google?
I would choose based on whichever team you're interested in more
if you have that info
Yeah I’m a return intern for both
I liked google much better
Just don’t wanna renege
It's not a bad thing to renege, gotta look out for yourself
Just ask ChatGPT to write you a renege letter and send it
Yeah ig im not too keen on burning bridges with MSFT
I feel that's a risk worth taking, since you like Google much better
You might still be accepted back later on in Microsoft still
True
Everyone got zucked 😭
it do be like that
you should be safe, but from what I've heard, they've really hunkered down and the WLB is not nearly what it used to be. Its actually a grind now, more similar to that of meta in terms of work

Important to remember this is a company with 100k+ employees so not everyone’s experience is the same
Team / manager do matter
I mean everyone wants to underachieve while earning more than they deserve
It's nice tbh
Those days coming to a close soon
doubt it
Did you already get G offer?
Copium
This is information coming from someone who works there lol
This seems incredibly overaggressive for no reason lol
I know what you did
i have heard it can be bad if you're on an important product
but chill if youre not
like look at boyalgo on yt, moved from amazon to google and hates it, says amazon was way more chill and easier work
very team dependent as always
Yep team/project

I interned there 2weeks ago
Switzerland not us tho
Not true at all, WLB has remained the same for most teams
it's incredibly beautiful but I wonder how daily life must be there
like as a tourist it felt borderline heavenly but I can't imagine living outside of Zurich maybe
i would pull up and work there
the only issue is
i don’t think people speak english there
the languages there are what french german italian
is switzerland col pretty reasonable
it's very expensive
Hella expensive. Bermuda > Swiss > US in terms of major cities col

wisdom teeth grow so quickly
they started coming out last august
i might need to get them removed soon
"SWE applicant @Netflix" wtf
Ex-FANG Applicant
sorry, saw that message and decided to try it
chatgpt is insane
You NEVER mention that you're reneging for someone else
I just say unforeseen personal reasons
I guess a good excuse I came up with (for companies with mandatory in person work) is that I have obligations at home now preventing me from moving to the new city
pretty interesting
I wonder if chatGPT could take two offers and make a recommendation on which one to take
I bet chat gpt would bring RSUs appreciation in the result
What companies are hiring rn? 🥶🥶
lmao these chatgpt results r so good
I mean when they reject you they let you know that they are moving forward with other interviewees
its just a way to say you were rejected without saying you were rejected
usually youre not in direct competition with the other candidates anyways
for new grad apps, saying that they moved forward with other candidates is such a lazy way to not say you were rejected
anyways I just can't stand fake positivity
like if you want to reject me then just say it
Folks I was stuck with a MapBox geofencing part for almost a month and I just asked chatGPT and it literally created a custom one that fixes what I exactly need
I agree, right!
200iq arguments
damn thanks for G referral link
my reaction to that information
Damn admins so toxic, doxxing everyone ever born smh
cant fool me, im using dark dark mode
that offer isnt bad, would try to reneg
Sand on the beach
Hey guys, anyone know some companies hiring for Masters non CS jobs?
Someone should try this with ChatGPT: “I recently got an auto-generated rejection email from a company after an ordeal of interviewing experience, help me write an email to tell them to screw themselves!”
I would do that, but I don't wanna lose my respect with ChatGPT
I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience with this company. It can be frustrating and disappointing to be rejected after investing time and effort in the job application process. However, it is generally not a good idea to send an angry or disrespectful email in response to a rejection. This can damage your professional reputation and make it more difficult for you to find opportunities in the future.
Instead of expressing anger or frustration, you may want to consider using this as an opportunity to learn and grow. You could ask for feedback on your application or interview performance, or consider seeking out other job opportunities that align more closely with your goals and strengths.
It's understandable to feel upset after a rejection, but it's important to remember that the job search process often involves setbacks and disappointments. By staying positive and proactive, you can increase your chances of finding a job that is a good fit for you.
Who needs a therapist anymore now that we have ChatGPT!
RIP BetterHelp
how valid is it to use chatgpt to answer "why do you want to work at.." type questions?
I wonder if they can figure out it was written by AI
Tbh prob would be good
But u would need to feed it context
Like what the company is about
Just look at a company’s culture page and come up with some bs reasons relating to that rather than relying on chatgpt lol

ChatGPT is a pure W for cover letters. I guess it's the same for "why do you want to work at.."
But when you're mass applying it's more efficient using ChatGPT

Yeah so I figured chatgpt can take company names + a few values + a few things about me/my background and it can generate a pretty solid answer. Only thing is I wonder if companies can tell this was written by AI.
They can't
I highly doubt. Unless openai sells your history to the company
No interviewer is gonna examine it that deep
I would guess tho companies are more suspicious now
bro there is actually something that does exactly this
it takes in your character as input and returns output
it's called
the human brain
🧠
THE ULTIMATE TURING MACHINE

Too bad mine got damaged in this economy
ChatGPT is gonna save me in behavioral interviews. I don't need it, but it saves me time from having to make up BS answers on my own for behavioral scenarios I never faced.
ChatGPT is gonna save me in first dates. I don't need it, but it saves me time from having to make up BS answers on my own for behavioral scenarios I never faced.
anyone receive their offers yet?
im trying to figure out what the "right" pay for a data engineer out in san jose ca is
yeah chatgpt is insane, i used it to finish up some of my tasks today lmao just random parsing bullshit

Highly dependent on the company
Use levels.fyi if it’s on there and google if not
what do you think of going from a consulting firm to a software development job? is it beneficial for my resume?
if I want to be a SWE, considering I cant get into FAANG atm, should I go to a bigger and more famous consulting firm, or a smaller IT startup?
Sure
I never want to work in an insurance company or a bank as a software engineer
I think there are software development in building Dapps, Im learning React currently
anyone here planning to be in the bay area this upcoming summer?

i vote consulting
web3 is a meme since blockchain is inherently clunky as hell
meme field
you really think so?
might be copium but is it normal for recruiters to have radio silence this week? my interviewer (DRW) told me I'll be moving forward last week but idk anymore
yeah very normal
just had an interview today cancelled this morning cause she took the week off lol
Anyone got offer from Barclays? Any idea how much time they take for the offer letter??
Will there be postings in Jan-Feb for new grads graduating in May? I have nothing in hand. How worried should I be? 😭
no one knows, but next most likely time for opportunities will be in jan
Eh I got my job applying around that time and got a job beginning of April
Not close at all

Is an offer for 85k at a tech startup in TX good in this time?
With visa sponsorship
Why wouldn't it be?
Nbd
Yeah that’s a very good mid tier base salary in texas. As long as it’s not some super omega sus or crypto startup
Even if it is, take any offer, get the bag
Literally fire. It is hot 🥵
They are because they’re all going to disappear and they are scams but u can join, cash out and leave somebody else holding the bag
To me that is what tech is all about

Isn’t it getting cold as shit
There was a day a few weeks ago where it was colder than ny
leetcode waits for no man

bro bryson in wz is so funny
and theres no armor in multiplayer

but like in wz it was so aweful
like u can try so hard to knock and then they look at you once and then ur down
bro its actually hilarious
idk how to tune this, i doubt it matters, i just need distance
exactly
nah
its ddos
i need score
i dont use battle rage, animation takes too long before i die
plus i get flashed lol
if there was that wz glitch with infinite dead silence and battle rage you know im spamming it

tf
i cant use the m13 though
i need to actually play
i couldnt figure out how to get around that
their front end devs need help lol
you get the one on the left from dmz, except i never queued for dmz
^ this one is for wz, taqv 2 shots but its bouncy

Are you not reading math and quant books?
+spouse +home +racist family?
all I see is complete victory
So what’s the meta for applying for new grad cs jobs for someone who doesn’t want to tryhard? (Aka graduate spring 2023, grind summer 2023, job offer by fall/winter 2023)
i don't think that's really a good idea, you'll have missed out on most new grad positions if you wait that long
Defense contractors, local companies, banks/boomer finance/f500, talk to friends and family and family friends
I'd especially emphasize talking to connections at local companies
I haven’t done a traditional cs degree so for example I just finished my Data Structures, Algorithms, and Computer Systems classes. I haven’t had an internship. I figure I’ll be too be next semester to seriously leet code. Don’t companies hire for zero experience roles year round? (For non-traditional/boot campers) Or is there a distinct advantage in applying for new grad roles that advertise themselves as such?
“Boomer finance” haha good one
I have palantir on-site next week
And I’ve been dealing with severe procrastination

Not all companies hire year round, varies idk the details of who hires when. Most of the super big tech giants hired year round, but they're also not hiring at all right now
Many zero experience roles will tend to be labeled "new grad" or "campus" or something like that, which may or may not be advertised year round. Job I started a few months ago was listed sometime in the early fall as a '23 new grad role. ime most companies will consider you a "new grad" within 12 mo of graduation. one company rejected me specifically for being a '23 grad, otherwise none filtered me based on that, as far as I know. I did get asked a few times what I did between graduation and looking for work.
afaik fb/google/amazon hired year round in the past
not sure what pattern there is for companies that do specific recruiting cycles, maybe trading firms
I had interview rounds with all of em off cycle
for ng
wdym
isn't june uh != aug/sept
I mean they do a recruiter screen or w/e but no it wasn't scheduling stuff for later
Ok question for people
Im doing an apprenticeship/internship kind if thing with Hawaiian Airlines where they can hire me anytime during it this coming semester. The pay for new grad is $70k. Would you guys be looking for new grad stuff for next recruiting cycle or should i stay there and get some YOE before moving companies
I had a Google phone technical screen done in june, which I passed and then got ghosted because freeze, otherwise it would have been onsites scheduled asap.
amazon had onsites scheduled for july which I intentionally delayed and then never did cuz i didn't want to lmao
facebook reached out in late december, and I was too lazy to do it, so I ignored it until they froze hiring
big tech not it rn, js historically I'm p sure they didn't have an issue with recruiting year round. some random places I don't remember exactly did the whole start recruiting for ng in fall shebang. (+trading which seems to actually do the recruiting in fall for limited spots type deal)
definitely not but I also didn't do off season interns
they are 100% not as common tho
Well yes I agree if I had done the traditional cs degree I would have started to grind leetcode/ apply for jobs before the summer was over and also had some runway with maybe other internships. I’m definitely not concerned with optimizing my life so I’m more asking this in the sense of given my situation: now what?
Ohhhh so you graduated spring 2021 but didn’t get an offer until summer 2022? What were you doing that whole time? Grinding leetcode and applying? Send me a friend request I’m interested in hearing your full story
Anybody got a hackerrank from Texas instruments
Ohhh I see. Well as someone on a similar timeline (if different experience) your story still let’s me know I won’t be facing closed doors automatically and gives me some practical advice on how to proceed.
does anyone know if tc for fidelity leap program is negotiable?
How do I get started on decomp/sysdesign?
Just start reading grokking from educative io?
is that free?
Noope 7 day free trial i believe
what is decomp?
uhhhh
i could've made so much from user funds
Palantir's own version of Systems Design
no one knows
people can argue yes there will be because companies are more knowledgeable about how much to hire during the official recession
people can argue no because it's a recession
Hence it'll be a mix of both 😉
just keep grinding that's all we can do
markets fuCKED guys
yea they are mostly just on break
had a lot of emails saying nothing is moving forward until january, and interviews cancelled and stuff
has anyone received peak6 oa and later advanced to next round without passing all test cases?

New Grad postings just dropped in #grad_postings_old !
should a graduate a semester early? i could graduate a semester early because i will barely have anything to do during the spring semester but i’m worried about how much more difficult it will be in landing a full time job if i graduate early
Job market for new grads is tough
Although graduating now rather than in Spring does help you save money on tuition
And either way you'd be classified as a 2023 grad
so would it even matter when i graduated then?
Afaik no, but I'm not 100%
thoughts on Parafin
anything noteworthy/out of the ordinary with their process
do they hire new grads?
yes
the phone round is pretty easy
the final round has an API design round (for backend)
which was challenging imo
interesting
guys is it worth applying on the simplify website
instead of the company website itself?
It doesn't matter, either one will have you applying through the company's page
When did you apply to parafin?
I’ve always been told it’s better to graduate in the winter cause you can come straight onboard through the spring while most of the new grad pool can’t start until the spring / summer. And even you take the typical amount of time for a job search you’ll have started the process earlier, get a job earlier and start making money earlier than you would have if you had graduated later. Not to mention the tuition money you save.
A few months ago
oh dam I thought they just came out D;
Yea they basically did so I wouldn’t worry
I probs only got interview bc of referral
hi
hi
no
Yes
Do u know if the DE shaw intern and new grad process is different?
Hi Pan 🙂
