just remember that not everything is effected by CoL/taxes. if you contribute lets say... 10% to a traditional 401k, thats 9.5k per year vs 15.5k per year. over 30 years in the market at 6% thatd be a $475,000 difference

now i know your income wont stay the same over 30 years but you get the idea. relative savings are much higher even if CoL and taxes eat up a lot of the take home difference

Also, checked a COL calculator and BB is technically paying 10k more than the equivalent of 95k(in Dallas). If you want a more accurate measure, do your own spreadsheet with your actual expenses.

And some things are hard to quantify like not needing a car in NYC but a car being necessary in Dallas. Without a car, you don’t spend time finding parking, paying for parking, taking it to get oil changes/maintenance, commute while having to pay attention, etc

At the end of the day it's just a language so I don't think it should matter too much vs the company itself or the actual work you will be doing. That being said I do think Rust would be sweet but I would be slightly nervous about the learning curve if I didn't know it already. Scala I would be somewhat nervous just bc it's not very popular, also it depends on how your team is using it. I think if it's databricks style then it's a 100% non issue but would be slightly nervous if it was being used 100% functional

if u need a visa sponsorship, bloomberg and palantir were the only few that were hiring a lot of new grads but they are full now
