Tldr being a college student in Japan sucks ass

• Apply a year in advance
• Prestige matters a lot
• New grads can't compete with industry hires so their only viable option is to apply to mass hiring new grad roles
• Applying to jobs feels like a black hole since everyone is applying to the same places

The main silver lining we have is that job hopping is viable and very common in American tech.

But the process of getting into somewhere as a grad is just...ugh

Basically we have a good chance to redefine our careers if we don't get what we want immediately
