Are the EU guys safe enough?
I have applied to both Amazon GB, IE and US. Got OA for GB and IE. The portal says "Under consideration". (Aced both OA1 and OA2). On the other hand got rejected the next day in the US one.

Surely this isn't the case for every country, or atleast for Asia.
I am from Bangladesh, and local techs and big techs are hiring normally. They pay also went up in the recent years. I decided to resign from my current job and do 600 lc and apply for Faang EU/US .
Gladly I stepped back in the last moment.
This case is also true for Indian fellows. Heard that pay is sometimes higher there than EU regions.

Intentions don't really matter if the end result is the same. You wanna offset prejudice and lack of organic support for various demographics, but the means are lazy and shitty cause everyone who actually goes through the hard hiring bar of non-reserved seats, will be selected from a larger pool of qualified candidates, as opposed to those who merely meet the bar. We are all qualified for 99% of the jobs we don't even get an interview for, let alone an offer. The bar doesnt mean anything when there is competition. Fact is, any accommodations made to simply reserve spots for a few, will directly lower not the hiring bar, but coimpetition. And that is, effectively what we measure our colleagues by, regardless of the "bar"

And regardless, from college, through 3 jobs and now grad school, I've applied for positions I'm more than qualified for, have been part of an applicant pool the size of NYC's population, where there were reservations from anywhere from 10-50% (latter was in college). Does it matter to anyone but me and those millions others? Not really. Can't complain (cause then we get labels). I persevere, accept my shortcomings, work hard to improve and satisfy whatever hiring committee I need to please. Only to end up chatting up with something with either half the XP, skills or scores on a random day. Not really a big deal, if you ignore the fight to overcome the bias.

That's a trouble inducing question, but I'll bite. It's not a belief as much as empirically observed stat. Any individual today in a progressive nation has the capacity to pursue their choices freely. Of course, cirumstances will affect the outcomes, but that's assumed to be the case for all. However, if there are recurring patterns and strong divergences between two groups (cause of sex, race, nationality, etc), it will, inevitably impact a large enough population. That's the law of large numbers.

Sure, you can be a variant and defy the norm, but the norm remains the same. The average individual from a large sample of women will deviate in general from the same for men.

This does not mean you cannot or should not do whatever you want. It just means that other than you, millions will still follow a certain trend. So yeah, I think men and women on a broad scale have different strengths.

Don't worry mate. Even before recession, I knew people who struggled purely cause they thought MS == "Easy USD money". They didnt get hired cause they were slacking off, but it took one of them like 6 months of sitting in India and applying to get a company to sign off on his F1 and future H1B promises. You can still struggle from back home, but it's too early to be bothered by that. I'd wager you could hedge your risks by considering a PhD, but that's far from easy

True, but it's like making a bet, right? See the thing is, we see an open international market for jobs. There's plenty marketing and advertising going on about these grad school programs and we pay a hefty fee, not by just our standards, but by even local standards (cause grad schools are essentially cash cows with no aid). You made a call 2 years ago when the market was booming. You saw the trends of the past decade, and you bought in on the idea. However, there is no insurance and while waiting for a few months to get that perfect offer is an option for the locals as internationals, who did not go to community college, or receive state school discounts, we will be kicked out in like 1 month or so (I might be off on this). And that's when shit gets really hard and feels really unfair. Not anyone's fault really, but one can empathise.
