Idk if I am talent tho 😂😮💨
Hopefully my return offer doesn’t get rescinded 🥹
I’m way too lazy to leetcode can barely get one in per day
ye same
all my interviews i’m planning to just raw dog
go in and charm them with behavioral
Disagree
If you're laid off, you have experience to fall back on
If you're a new grad, and can't find a job during recession ur kinda screwed
yeah fax lol but its ok guys think abt it this way
if u do find a job during a recession
u can invest at a discount!
U get cheap stocks 🥵
fact, if a recession started late 2021 and recessions take 1.5-2 years to bottom out we might just time the market on a shit ton of stock in a blue-chip company
get your money up
not your funny up
Except FAANG what are the good companies to work for in Canada. Is there a list somewhere?
how many stories are recommended to have prepped for zon LPs
They are much better positioned than meta interns
I got a meta offer rescinded cause of uscis work authorization delays
Low key blessing
junior metamates*
No
Well, how do you go on to find jobs before graduation? Mass apply to LinkedIn?
I'd apply to all of those and make a habit of checking every few days and applying to new ones
Also make sure to eat well and exercise atleast 30 mins per day 💪💪
Health is most important at the end of the day
Ah, without money, no good food, eventually the biological system breaks down
Does personal projects/portfolio sites add any value (like getting more interview calls)?
projects definitely, but you can live without a portfolio imo
A spanking github profile readme is better i think
projects help get past resume screens
esp if u dont got exp
I don't have experience in any Canadian companies. But I do have some experience from another company from another country. Don't know if it will be counted or not.
It's better to be on the safe side I guess
It will be. Just phrase it well
if anyones done quora technical phone screen before yall know how hard it is?
did it last year, expect lc med-hard difficulty
ya
aight thx imma not schedule it for this week then lol
any tips on amazon oa 2?
ooofff
What score did you get?
Is that a new grad position?
what is this?
@keen gulch congratzb
ty🥰
msft hasnt opened summer 2023 hiring for new grads have they
i cant see any listing online
no they havent. should be next month
sounds good, thanks for the heads up
where do we usually track openings like this?
specifically canada
i'm seeing a bunch of repos in gh but they're mostly US stuff
not sure for canada
thanks! if someone else knows, please @ me <3
are there any 2023 grad openings rn?
oh my bad i didnt check out the pins
thanks
If anyone else is applying for security engineering roles lmk, tryna share roles/prep bc it's more niche than swe
2sig out btw
^ got a message from the tapia conference
If anyone is wondering if Amazon 1x30 is still a thing I can confirm it is.
Oh shit, congrats! How'd you do on the coding OA?
100% on both for coding OA
I just had the final 2 hours ago. Really easy no technical and no LP just review of OA
msft might have hiring freezes in place depending on the org as well
i think it may just be rng then
mine was perfect
but my Oa2 def wasnt
got 2*60
Yeah but no one knows about OA2
I also finished both OA1+2 in around 1 hour combined so I don't know if they include time
true, I also don't know if resume is considered at all with deciding or if it is automatic based on scores
When did you apply for the position?
June 25
interesting
someone had talked about behavioral OA and some key things to remember
like keep customer happy always
deliver on deadline even if you have to withhold features
etc etc
i dont remember all of them
What’s a revoked feature?
sorry ill edit that
I feel like I've been slacking for the last 2-3 months. I need to improve my pace but I can't feel motivated to work on anything. its so annoying :/
I read the LPs but didn't have any other particular strategy so maybe I just got lucky
how do u live right now ?
you got savings?
my wise friend once told me that unless bills were knocking on my door i wouldnt be efficient with my time
im a student
well then heres an actual tale, i knew a senior when i was a sophomore and he chilled and relaxed after grad for a month and that chill session turned into 2 years for him and he just recently got a job
so you gotta take advantage of the new grad roles because if you miss out itll be hard
p much all covered in leadership principles, although sometimes vague
ty for reporting back
they better hurry up with scheduling the final im stressing out for no reason
new grad 2023? which country was the position listed for?
Amazing
I would assume US, not sure where else you would be applying
Maybe Canada
amazon software dev centers are in other countries also. Like Canada, India.
who would willingly work in India, pay is shit there
bruh lol
engineers who live in India will work in India, right?
and pay isn't bad for faang companies in India if you consider the COL.
COL is irrelevant when you die from air quality

?avatar @rain patio
el chango
Monke
air quality is still less deadly than getting shot
why not both?
mexico has entered the chat
Uh Idk about that. Lung cancer is still pretty scary
Wait till you see the air quality in Cali in September lol
yeah, I sorta assume most people here are US citzens or are planning to relocate lol
hi
hello kirby
It's been a week and still haven't heard from Jane Street 😢
Bay area air quality rn is great
Y there no channel for grad process
US
list of canadian tech companies iirc but it's from like 4 years ago
noice !! congrats on your offer !
No offer yet but fingers crossed
I mean does the job application specifically say before October ?
Like honestly why do they care
best of luck !
yes it was mentioned in new grad 22 job posting
not sure if this is true for all companies. But this was the case for amazon
Ah well I guess yeah 2022 for May grads and 2023 for December grads
is akuna OA auto?
by international you mean located outside the US or an international student?
damn not many good companies recruiting for new grads rn
Hey ! if you dont mind can you tell what topic was your lc question in amazon interview? I just want to know if it was dp.
do the good applications come out in august?
I did
international student
im canadian
but go to university in th eus
the us*
🍁
oh damn nice ok j wondering if intl having a role in not getting oa lol
yeah mostly
unless ofc hiring freeze continues
I don’t think it has a role for Amazon but for other companies it is a deal breaker
Yeah
rip gotta wait it out then ig
Did two sigma ng 2023 open up ?
My mantra in life is there is never a good time to be ready
Yeah you shouldn’t have issues
Ya a bunch r coming soon
Sentry, Brex, and Databricks just to name a few
hi
hi
hi
yo
hi yo
Has anyone gotten regex for zon OA? It’s in my practice test
practice test is much harder than actual OA
regex is pretty chill
My friend did last yr
that rng is crazy.
I saw on blind google is cancelling some ppls interviews, also heard from friend at msft that there's potential hiring freeze...
heard goog won’t have any new grad postings?
Imo they'll have new grad postings, but will reduce the amount a lot
fingers crossed
what the fuck
U working really hard rn, take it easy make sure u take a break
Give your phone some time to rest
How long is the turnaround time for quora
After codesignal
Well this has been my third time doing this
Once every year
Load up cs
Yes
It's already happened to a friend of mine
Which company?
From where
Shopify
😭😭
Shopify, coinbase, twitter
Also Coinbase, Loom, and Twitter canceled returns
I guess I have to grind for new grad again 😮💨
Gfs best friend is at Meta and said theyre only giving offers thru a TopDown approach. So only offers to top intern performers.
Yeppp
Those intern presentations are about to be sweatttyyyy
So basically during my internship I led to a 2 billion increase in revenue by changing the button order in our internal dashboard
I couldn't do it without the motivation from seeing my peers do so poorly during their internship
Is microsoft out yet?
Hello does anyone know that if I didn’t accept the Amazon new grad offer within 14 days and if I had to go back to accepting it. Can it be done ? Thanks
idk ask asp
Iirc something people do is not accept to try to rng a new location so its def possible
You could get unlucky and they dont offer you though
Yeah I hope I get it thanks @vital meteor
Where do you all look for software roles? (Other than the github page)
I never look at the GitHub page, I use LinkedIn/Indeed mainly
nah, i think more roles will open after Jan 2023. but until then, i dont think there will be many postings.
Bruh I cannot wait till Jan 2023
Wait what
It’s still pretty early isn’t it
most postings drop August/September I’m pretty sure
just did palantir karat
got 2/3 then half way through 3
should i redo
so you’re probably chilling
How is the build dependency graph oa for palantir (like lc med level? hard level?)
chances are they’ll move you onto on-site
Well that doesn't fill me with confidence lol. Havent heard of anyone here getting their return offers rescinded up to this point..
did u do it twice
There’re 3 questions. I passed all testcase for the first one and I stuck on the second one.
Then rejected🥲
If we can land a job we'll be securing our stock compensation for the cheap
2022 grads equity compensation hella depreciated
yes
i used my redo because my power went out during my first interview
lol
did you 100% both?
like the 2q
yeah
like do you feel confident that you solved them fully
yes
and 50% of q3
i was stuck on q2 for 15 minutes cause i didnt realize i overwrote a variable
then don’t redo you’ll probably move onto phone interview
or on-site
i forget what’s next
probably phone if you haven’t done it yet
hm okay
u think they will take this into account lol
doubt it
i think they only look at whether or not you solved the questions
unless something has changed this year 2/3 should be fine
3rd question is LC hard i think too
i got thru half way
i was speed running
LOL
talking like
aksljdflkjaskdlfjasd
hahaha you’re good probably
Oh ok I was under the impression that it was one question for some reason
if anyones done quora technical phone
how long did they take to get back to u btw
after karat
don’t remember honestly i think maybe a week
u had an OA for palantir?
i think i skipped that
ah ok
Yea
I applied to forward deployed se specifically
yeah some applications go straight to karat
oof
i heard FDSE is 60+ hrs
dang I thought the work sounded interesting
i applied to that originally
but i switched
after speaking to a palantir engineer
LOL
also i got referred
so i skipped straight to phone
Ah that makes sense
You talk to clients
basically ur a consultant and a software engineer combined
do you guys think its a good idea to do part time as a data engineer (remote) for senior year and then transition into the same company after graduating? or should i try to find more internships instead of part time? The part time role is going to pay $36-40 and then full time i think is $60+
i was also wondering if anyone else has received this type of offer before graduating before
not sure but uhh
i think i just bombed akuna python phone screen
😭
better luck next time
akuna matada?
lOL
sounds pretty common, and seems like a great offer. i'd take it tbh
Hey all, I have a onsite with Audible in a few days. Any tips from someone who has interviewed recently?
what they ask cuh
bruh did anyone get the neeva first steps email
they want you to make a whole ass project in a week and do unit tests documentation, and if they like your project, you can get an interview
Do you need perfect score on OA to get to phone?
Has anyone given the amazon NG interview yet?
Idk I had perfect score
I heard some people didn't pass even with perfect score so either there are hidden cases or filtered by resume screen since OA is auto
I hear the bar for cpp OA on mc is really low
I low-key griefed that OA
Just Lowkey tho
I'll become one in a few months
can i use stories not related to school or relevant work experience to demonstrate amazon LPs?
yeah
I mean the actual work you do as SDE1 vs Intern is probably harder/more-involved
Having a well scoped problem with dedicated mentor alleviates the concerns and stress of intern
I mean the ramp up phase, is like what 1-2 months?
Full time you have high standards placed on you but yeah a healthy place will give u ramp up sure
then you are expected to do production work, and submit deliverables at 2-3 months
Even at big tech i feel interns who are stressed get self pressured into it
For external reasons
I mean if they give you the exact guidelines for implementation, what fun would there be in SWE?
Still fun bro wdym
I end up asking for help anyway
Im dumb af
well I don't mean never asking for help lul
how long did it take for u to get OA after applying
they ghosting me 😭
Applied June 25th got OA July 18
oop
9 days from OA to final that’s insane
Yeah it ended up being 7 from OA to final
has anyone here taken the amazon final yet?
idk. im doing p well
waiting til the last day to do the oa
shouldn't u be adding a new font to Google docs on ur chromebook
Already did, now get lost
how long did it take to schedule final btw?
2 days for them to reach out to schedule and then 2 days for the time confirmation
Np good luck
low key I prefer a 2x60 to a 1x30
1x30 is like getting 2 questions on a final exam
i think 1x30 is just talking about your previous oas
Really? Oh shit nvm then
What do they base their decision making on when choosing who to give 1x30 to lol
Cope cope cope cope
does amazon referral does anything lol?
rng
u have to ace oa1 and o2
oa2 usually gets ur ass
Yeah that's probably what happened lol
I speedran that shit
pretty sure it guarantees OA
Hey, Are you all applying from the Github list ? Is it fully updated ? or applying from elsewhere?
Was wondering the same thing. I always see unaddressed PRs there. Not sure how well maintained it is
am i the only one who likes to swear when doing OAs?
any tips or hint on question for virtu oa
anyone else got reached out by a C1 recruiter?
Whats rng?
it is pretty easy
random number generator, meaning it's random
what are follow up questions like for amazon LPs? Do they ask you to give more detailed information of the situation to make sure you are not lying? or do they ask a question that wants you to demonstrate another LP in that same situation?
Both
How do you handle a question you've seen before and clearly recollect when asked in an interview without tipping off the interviewer?
you approach it the same way you would for a new question
you ask clarifying questions, go over test cases, explain approach, code, and see if solution works
Don’t ever regurgitate solutions but remember the patterns involved
When you're asked to code, don't go fast as fuck tho, try to explain line by line if needed
Talk through your thought process always
Me applying for jobs: oh nice let me just do a bunch at once
Me receiving OAs: ;-;
Me applying for jobs: oh nice let me just do a bunch at once

Me: ;-;
Me: ;-;
Why are you applying when you have return offer
Anyone done with amazon ng interview?
What's lp
Hello…I have recently given amazon new grad OA part 1 and yet to give part 2 which I received on the same day. But today I have received an email saying your part 1 is incomplete and we have extended your deadline…does anyone else faced same issue?
Open the assessment again. You probably did not fill out the survey at the very end
Did you close the tab before seeing the thank you for participating screen?
Check the oa1 invitation email, it talks about it there. Just guessing but I think that's probably it
Amazon Leadership principles
Yes now if I open part 1 then it redirects me to part 2 only
I filled the survey and waited till it says now you can close your browser
(what the fuck)
LOL fuck that
Isn’t this the company that made people do mad long take home projects (free labor much?) and then just ghosted most people
haven’t heard that but i wouldn’t doubt it lol
Bro that’s an internship in the form of free labor
Lol search “fuck neeva” in this server
Bruh Bernie don’t like them either
Damn you right
lmaooo
Who is neeva
When did neeva open?
yesterday
is it better to grind the amazon top questions list with lc preimium or just grind the lc amazon tagged in here
The amazon explore is good too
Tbf I don’t think they’re saying that the take-home will take 4-6 weeks
what's amazon explore?
Yeah I agree, 4-6 weeks for an entire hiring process isn’t bad but fuck takehomes lol
can't believe some people advocate for takehomes
anyone recently get a mathworks edg offer? curious what kind of salary they’re offering. levels has minimal data
thanks, same situation for me
doesn't include stakeholder yearly bonus info
not yet
waiting on Amazon offer
Offers are rolling so there are hypothetically more spots now, but it is up to you if you feel ready
I applied June 25th got OA July 18th
what's the difficulty of the amazon oa
Mine was exceedingly easy
On OA1
OA2 who knows
yeah
1x30
Already did it
super chill just on the OA1
yeah
I don't think so
You need a decent enough OA1 to get OA2
And then OA2 makes most of the difference from there for 1x30 or 2x60 I think
I did OA2, but I have no idea how well I did except it was good enough for 1x30
is oa2 the workplace simulator one?
oa2 in amazon is still a mystery 🤣
Yeah I went in with no studying or strategy other than LPs
i'm curious who do they grade oa2
Yeah it is unclear exactly how to get it. It could maybe be affected by resume, location, etc. as well
Most of my requests were in Mass because that is where I live
So not super unconventional, but they did just build a new office here so they might want to fill it up
The new building is in Boston
I think it is a replacement for the office that was there already, but I think it is bigger than the old one
same I’m kicking myself for being so nervous 😅
As long as you pass all test cases you’re set right?
I believe so. I wrote a few comments but I had reasonably optimal solutions so I just stopped there
How long does it take to get oa1 for amazon after applying?
I applied 5 days ago, crickets 🥹
oop I just solved it and left, I don’t think mine were too bad time complexity wise
Took me 2-3 weeks
It took me around 3 weeks to get OA, but I applied pretty early
Yes V shaped recovery right after we get stock packages 🙏
are you done with your interview?
I did oa1
2 OAs and then 1x30 minute interview or 2x60 minute interviews
Review OA1
neither really, it was a review of the coding OA to confirm I wrote the answers. Then it was just the guy talking about his experience for the other 20 minutes
oh that’s cool
fr
I’m shocked they don’t ask you LPs bc I thought that was super important to Amazon
but ig the people who get it are cracked
Oh interesting
So there’s no coding? Or is it a mix
this stuff has probably been discussed so many times in this server im just not active
ty guys and best of luck to u both
cute dog btw
waiting I think
Want to practice more LC first
you applied already right?
i don’t want to delay applying too much, though
How many days after OA2 u got chance to schedule an interview?
2 days
They move p fast which I like
Like in terms of experience/stats?
Experience
Are you american or europe based, I'm assuming the majority of the server is USA BASED?
Cool, thanks for the replies
DAE if there is an equivalent of this server for UK/EU?
Not sure sorry :((
We do have some people from the UK/EU here though
You probably wouldn't know but I'm assuming again that the leetcode questions would be similar across the board
I’m p sure
Yh I already know about that, thanks though.
Got two sigma hackerrank
Not codesignal?
Nope

May I ask which role it is? NG?
^ good point actually, is it SWE or quant researcher
anyone else got an email from the c1 recruiter after codesignal?
every self driving car company needs to do simulations too right?
based
How long after applying did y’all get the amazon OA?
I applied the 7th. Got OA this Monday
Got 15/15 on both so just gotta kill the leadership principles 🫣
15/15 on what?
hey any tips on studying for Palantir sys design?
Test cases
You get 2 problems
What does the test case consist of ?
yeah
to both questions
hr phone is just behavoiral
but u can fail it
so make sure u know ur resume lmao
HR -> Karat
then onsite
then hiring manager
yeah mines was hr first
dev
delta is 60+ hrs
nty

isnt that sys design
lol

cant u use sys design principles for tha
i honestl;y have no idea what to study anymore
LOL
after karat
its just

im kinda scared of learning interview
no idea what thats gonna b like
like should i continue to LC?
or what
LOl
ur meta intern?
ah
nope
mines was 1*60
for internship
i got return offer
yea
and unity return offer
yep
awesome
i didnt hear back from recruiter yet after karat
for palantir
yesterday
i tried rescheduling
and when i clicked on it
there was a message that said u did good, we will reach out shortly
no need to redo
didnt hear back tho
ohoh
why tf is palantir so much harder than meta
thats what i want to know

what did palantir give u
so med
there was three
ohoh
mines was
easy -> med -> hard
After filling qualtrics how many days later they give option to schedule for interview
wdym by karat?
?avatar @jagged ravine
1x30 for 2023 new grad?

speed bumps on the road to heaven
Same doubt, was he 2023 grad
Yep
Can you tell me how many days ago dis that guy message who got 1*30v
Its RNG why would it matter
whats the average schedule for 20 hrs week internships
4 hrs everyday / 3 full days?
.
Whats rng?
Random number generator it means its random/down to luck etc
honestly easier to think you'll get 2*60 and prep rather than worry abt how to get 1*30
Can someone tell me any good reason why they'd reject you after perfectly good interviews?
Good reason, but this company didn't indicate any hiring freeze (at least a week ago). I'm talking about Akuna
Same goes for this another startup, which I kinda feel I spooked out a bit by being overqualified and expecting too much salary
maybe you didn't do as well as you thought? (no offense)
or they had a better candidate that did just as well + has more experience
Reasonable conclusion, but, the interview was pure coding (and engineering). And while I'm aware of situations where I could misread a bad answer, it's very very unlikely that their average candidate did better than me or had more experience than me, given I've had tons of interviews (both good and bad with the likes of FAANG) over 5 years and I've taken several SWE interviews myself.
sometimes the interviewer just doesnt like you man
So, I was kinda in my zone, giving the interviewer perfectly optimal, production grade clean code in like 15 mins in an interview that was supposed to last like 45 mins
bad culture fit or whatever
akuna isnt on a hiring freeze fwiw
there is such a thing as too fast imo
Yeah, but culture fit would be an issue if that guy were to ask anything behavioral. Just showed up, asked a medium tier question. Got an answer, confirmed it was perfectly good and 3 days later rejection. I kinda think they rejected me due to some GPA or resume screening issue later on
Or they just didn't like you lol, i.e. bad culture fit
they don't filter on your resume after you get an interview
Yeah, that's what I'm trying to understand why could they not like me in a coding interview, which I personally felt after giving 100s of these, went very well.
They don't need to ask specific behavioral questions if you don't seem enjoyable to work with
ultimately its a subjective choice from the interviewer
its like asking why someone doesnt want to be friends with you
IDK, maybe I'm ranting. Similar thing happened with another startup a month ago and I was dumbfounded
Yep lmao
Too fast verbally, or just too fast a solution for them to think that I knew the answer from memory?
both are equally an issue
I guess the reason I'm bringing this up here is to avoid some unknown issue in future interview. Usually if it's just a bad technical round, it means I gotta study harder. Here, I honestly don't know.
you win some lose some man, it happens, i thought i did really well on de shaw and got rejected at the absolute last stage
how are your communication skills? they are not looking for robots who can spit out code with lacking communication skills
Do you have BDE?
DE Shaw rejects with a very strong pattern. This might not apply to you, but they lust for GPA. I;ve observed this with their internships and full-time applications across multiple candidates (me and my friends)
u gotta vibe with the interviewer
i had a 4.0 at the time
i literally made it to the step where they would've asked for references/code samples
reject right before there
anyways my point is that sometimes even if everything goes well you can still get rejected, it happens
I worked for 2 years as a Senior SWE, and a good chunk of that involved interacting with clients at this large ($1B+ revenue annually) insurance company in the US and some potential businesses, not just technical stuff, but kinda like convincing them early on to try out a collaborative effort with the platform, and helping non technical folks understand why things can or cannot be done. I figured that kind of experience would be enough to be lucid in a coding interview. Apparently not.
But maybe it's just bad luck. I just want an early offer cause as an international student, with all this recession talk, I'd rather not cut it too close to the graduation deadline
maybe try mocks to get feedback?
fwiw I don't think it's ever worth over thinking these situations
your perception of perfect is most likely not perfect and even if you were, it could have been 20 other reasons
sometimes interviewers have shit going on in their lives too and they judge you differently
Haha, I've seen that. I remember this one interviewer, who I thought was convinced to take out his frustration on me, cause not only did he ask me an absurdly hard math problem for an SWE role, but also probed me every 10 seconds, literally taunting me that "cmon, other candidates were already done with this by now". Somehow, ended up getting an offer on that interview. 😆
Having an offer in limbo is stressful too
Wish I kept my insurances up until start date
wdym?
Watching other companies in your sector rescind offers or have hiring freezes while you’re waiting for your start date
Could be a good number of reasons including behavioral/culture fit, it's not worth dwelling over. You come across as really arrogant to me when you say " it's very very unlikely that their average candidate did better than me or had more experience than me".
It's also possible they had identified a candidate and were only interviewing more candidates due to policy requirements, impossible to know
There's no better way that I know to state my intuition based on my personal experience in coding interviews and benchmarking the same against the difficulty noticed on big name companies (maybe you can rephrase it for me, as I tried to communicate my experience). Besides, like I said, all we talked about was the problem, the solution and the usual stuff like optimality, complexity and edge cases. I'd be more hesitant to make such a conclusion had I been just starting out or had no context of a good and a bad coding interview round. Like I said, I've had them and taken them, and this one seemed perfectly fine.
Yeah, MS CS
Yeah, got bored of SWE, thought I'd diversify in ML and Data Science
There was a better candidate than you, believe it or not. Quant firms are extremely competitive, all the way up to the final. They probably solved it in 10 minutes, or maybe they had better experience, or maybe they were better communicator. No point in dwelling on it now
Anyone heard back from Jane Street yet?
It's been now 9 days and still haven't heard back
Yes, how did it take?
I hear back from them alright. They keep resume screening me, I keep applying every 2 weeks, lol
That doesn’t seem like a good idea
apparently there's a guy from canada who got 1x30. not sure if that applies to us though
Probably annoys them
When did u apply?
Maybe that's why Jane Street isn't reviewing applications now lol^^
Sometimes it works. I bypassed RH after 3 resume rejects lol
Has anyone ever gotten a phone here?
Better question is, has anyone with less than 3.7 GPA gotten an interview.
F
I have a 3.36 now. 😢
For experienced?? Probably
Same boat mate
They got like 100 spots and 1000s of applicants. I guess they can afford to be very picky... Too bad that means no reasonable shot
I don’t think their resume screening is that bad, I think the interview process is where ppl get slaughtered
The previous 2 years gotten rejected from JS in 4 business days sharp lol
Spoken like a true 4GPA chad
There’s not even a slot for gpa
Do you guys mean on the resume?
U need a 5.0 gpa for JS
I guess I'm confusing Jane Street for HRT or something, but I remember one of those specifically asking for GPA range (mandatory) on their applications
Yeah you only need to submit resume for Jane street
Also, they ask your university as well, so I'm certain that factors in
google asks for gpa
Yeah, but google is interviewing me rn, so I guess they don't mind 3.33
Google asks converting interns too 😢
They do, but they don’t care
I doubt they look at it tho
Isn’t there a hiring freee
Unless you have a 1.0 gpa they don’t care
People < 3.0 have interviewed with them
There is, and after a week of radio silence, I thought I'd fallen prey to it. But I think freeze is on new grads mostly
Yeh
They just contacted me today to move to next round
But even for intern I’m being ghosted by my recruiter
I got a D in numerical methods (went pass/faill) and got still google lol
I try to be reasonable with my chances and search with filters on my university name and Jane Street on LinkedIn. I gotta say, maybe 1 in 50 results was relevant. Can't find a connect for a referral. Same goes for HRT
They all filled up with Harvards and Stanfords
Good thing there are more companies than Jane Street and HRT out there
TBF, numerical method has almost nothing to do with SWE (normally). I know that I used to at the very least check the grade on DSA or OS or DB if I ever had to filter down the number of applicants. Very rarely so
Yeah, but honestly, besides Akuna, almost no traction. Half of them love to stay in stealth mode, so very hard to find and the few big names don't bother with us peasants
I couldn't get an OA with them, but I don't remember for which role exactly (I've been applying a lot). I did remember getting an OA from them last year for their internship, which I thought went well, only to be rejected next week
The job market is kinda bleak, seemingly
Any mid-sized firms you know that are actively hiring?
OMG! C3.ai, that was the other company that I thought I nailed all 3 rounds. Like the final interviewer was vibing so hard and there were moments I'd give them even extra answers than what they'd expect (including the system design round). I was legit never more confident I'd get an offer, cause the interviews were smooth like butter. But then 2 days later, rejection.
I guessed that I made the mistake of questioning them too much about the AI/ML involvement in the Solutions Engineer role and that my compensation ask kinda spooked them out
The first interviewer basically told me that "we offer good pay, but not as good as a Google or something"
I kinda feel stuck in this weird place, where they feel hesitant offering me a new grad position cause they think I'd leave them soon or expect an early promotion, and not experienced or practiced enough to be offered a senior role (international xp doesnt count). Kinda opposite of goldilocks zone
No no, it was the final round. They told me that.
As in, the final technical round, the next would've been HR or whatever. It was system design
I often do not get phone screen or OAs. 3 companies have skipped that round for me
I did not apply to C3.ai either, one of their Tech Leads reached out to me on LinkedIn. So you can imagine why I was feeling rather... confident
Google did phone screen though, right?
Yeah, I've applied to google before. Same, they didn't give me OA. The phone round is their OA. When I say OA/phone, I mean the screening round, before the onsite day where you get 3-4 rounds.
I did not ask for comp, cause that's usually not taken well. But they did ask me my comp expectations and I try to beat around the bush, but often end up giving them an estimate
I don't, but keep in mind, I'm still early, I got some xp and I've led projects with 4-5 engineers working under me, so my asks are a bit ambitious
I usually tell them that do not have an estimate, and it will likely change as we approach an offer, but min base $170k and total upwards of $220k
I feel if I start high, they'd at least negotiate down to something reasonable, but so far, no luck
I actually want more, but I gotta get an offer first, and then build up
Yeah... IDK. Something about $150k base seems wrong given a lot of new grads get that. They don't seem to scale up base with xp very well
“A lot of new grads” are not getting 150k base…
Also, as in international, my xp doesn't count as well as someone local
I guess they aren't. The problem with these numbers is, they are heavily skewed by the top few, so I subconsciously get biased accordingly. But you're right. The avg base seems to be around $110k to $130k
Did anyone hear back after VMWare OA
Netflix and Brex
Some organized scam this is, propping up futures as compensation
GPA doesn't matter
My GPA is shit and I passed the HC
well ye but they still ask
Specifically they asked for transcript not GPA atleast in my case
And it's just to check if you actually grad lol
Yeah they don’t ask for gpa specifically iirc
Did anyone take cisco meraki OA?
I received 2nd one after completing first

Oh ok
Anyone Got amazon newGrad 2023 OA or is it not started yet?
I’d say 2 easies on OA1 for me - I solved question 1 with 1 line of python code and question 2 with about 6 lines
Ikr it took me 10 min
ya i finished the oa in like 15 mins
I feel like the interview will be brutal to compensate tho
I lucked out with a 1x30
no i chose toronto or vancouver
I think I listed my top 3 preferences at DC, Boston, and Atlanta bc I’m on the east coast
Has anyone chosen one of the bigger offices and gotten a 1x30?
this is amzn?
if so glad to hear they allow location choices
for some reason i thought theyd just be like "go to seattle"
I only put NYC on my amazon new grad app
wish I could change to add other options lol
im sure you can talk to a recruiter and switch when interviewing
nah personally id just wait until you speak to a human
U don’t get a human

it's rolling i think
dont doubt urself
u win these
I got a qualtrics survey and didnt hear back yet
After oa2
anyone used pramp?
yup
pramp? You have 6 free interviews, then unlimited after you refer a number of people (I think 4)
it might also have some services you need to pay for
i did 4 interviews and saw 1 question twice. I just assumed that they did not have a lot of questions, so I switched to doing mocks on LC with a friend
Are you in loo?
ya
@umbral plover when did you apply and get oa
got oa 3 days ago and applied like at the beginning of july
Qualtrics apps just opened
What are the 2x60 Amazon interviews like
how did u prepare for onsite?
thinking of purchasing systemsexpert
and doing mock sysdesign interviews
but not sure how to prep for learning interview
Link? Also does referral help
Was thinking the same thing, is there a leetcode for system design?
and watch some system design interviews
o
it’s kinda random
i gotta worry about caching, load balancers and that kind of stuff?
round robin, slave etc?
uhh yeah at a high level, idk about round robin and whatever slave is lol
for load balancing
but yes caching, load balancing
round robin is how to choose which to route to
do you know ligma?
it’s not super low level
There's like links per each location, but I'll send 1 of them. Not sure about referral
:
https://www.qualtrics.com/careers/us/en/job/260179
is that similar to goblin?
nah it's more like candice
usually you get retested on your weakest on-site interview
along with behavioral
so its either gonna be another learning or sys desing?
if u ace is it just behav then
yeah but most ppl don’t ace
yay
bc they figured karat was good enough
whew
u got moved to on-site?
yessirrr
told u 2/3 was good
still have yet to hear from recruiter yet tho
i tried rescheduling
but a msg popped up saying i did good enough
lol
lol shoulda just taken my word for it
glad it worked out though
ur in nyc right
yep
delta or dev
dev
u like it?
yes
its v diff from big tech right
ive worked at amazon and unity
very different from them?
got a meeting hold up
k
ok done with that meeting
i haven’t worked at amazon but i interviewed with them/have friends that work there and it seems like the culture is super different
lots of very smart and charismatic people here
i just took a read of the LPs before i did OA2, i'd say a lot of the stuff is common sense with regards to how to be a good leader
yeah
lowkey amazon gives me snake vibes
everyones a snake

got resume rejected from Jane street with 3 big N internships

Last week
Amazon, apple, tesla
No idea lol
Yeah probably, I have no experience with that I was mainly doing infra work

Has anyone interviewed with Akuna C++ junior yet? Are they still asking questions like class implementation without STL?
I guess you could say your solution
Wasn't based off of your intuition
