yo my bad, I know this isn't really the place to ask for university advice but I need it and since you guys are all experienced within the field it might help.

Is going to waterloo for math over lets say over carleton or UTSC or UTM for CS worth it for som1 already experienced in CS and with the goal to do startups/work at unicorns or do research

for reference if i go UW math i would be doing a combinatorics and optimization + Pure Math or Stats double major with a CS minor

Waterloo will give you access to an amazing school board. And if your going to be in math coop, you’ll be doing 6 internships

You’ll just lose a lot of sanity + develop a lot of imposter syndrome.

In math, you can still take cs courses as well, so it won’t be that bad. Just you’ll be doing a lot of math proofs… aka you either love it, or you hate it

Uhhh. If you want to go into Data science + ML, math is more flexible

CE if you want to go for more embedded/general software jobs

So like Computer vision type of stuff, you wont learn anything about it

Basically, in CE, you wont learn anything related to ML and the computer vision type of tuff until like Fourth year/third year if you overload. Our course load is heavy as fuck. So be prepared to be grinding non-stop if you want to do that

However, I know some of my classmates got into Data science positions.

Its all up to how hard you try in getting coops, meaning how much you grind side projects during your coop/academic terms

I would personally go into CE, since you'll have and find a closer knit group, than in math, where everyone is so spread out.
