I read one of the most recent reviews of the 2K Engineering Grad Program on Glassdoor(its still up), and I also spoke with someone who recently left the program. They told me that many of the Canadians who started last year are very unhappy. Most of them accepted the offer believing it would give them a path to work at a U.S. studio and potentially receive a pay increase after completing the program. That hasn’t been the case. The program does not allow them to work for U.S. studios, and many will be offered salaries around $65k after the 21-month program in Vancouver. While they were initially willing to accept lower pay, that was based on the assumption they would already be in the U.S. and able to apply to American companies. Based on my research and what I’ve heard, morale within the Canadian group is very low. In contrast, the U.S. cohort sees many dissatisfied participants leave for companies paying nearly double, which isn’t an option for the Canadian group.

aside from those explicit cases, i think its fair to assume companies in the us will favor students that studied in the us, especially in the case where the company has satellite offices in canada. however if you are a good enough candidate i dont think you would be held back that much.

there is definitely a good chunk of canadians (especially from loo/uoft/ubc) that end up going to us for ng.

if you have prev us work exp and want to work in the us for ng, you should try to just RO there

I'm subletting my place at 295B Lester Street popular with lots of Waterloo and Laurier students. You'll have your own spacious private bedroom with your own bathroom, all furniture included. There's a large kitchen with an island along with a large living room/common area to share with all your roommates. All roommates are clean and are not noisy (mostly CS + Eng students). They're not stinky too don't worry 😂 There's also laundry machines (washer + dryer) on the first floor which you can use.
