Late reply ik: Currently working in the US as a Canadian on TN status, no longer a Canadian tax resident. I pay taxes just like any other US person would in the US.

Almost no one I know on TN even visits or stays a long time in Canada enough to change things. Most folks on TN basically live in the US full-time and are essentially US tax residents (and subsequently non-residents of Canada so they don’t get taxed by Canada)

And this is a moot point if you’re working at a tech company in the US since healthcare monthly premiums are either fully covered or lower than average, and benefits are p good overall

Keep in mind that residence w.r.t immigration is different from tax residence — TN is a non-immigrant status (meaning you’re aware of the limited duration of TN and should be prepared to go back to Canada should ur TN expire/not renew), but for tax purposes you’re a US tax resident if that’s where you primarily live and work during the year

And yes I no longer have healthcare in Canada nor a Canadian driver’s license + other things, but those can be reclaimed about 3 months after moving back to Canada for most provinces — only thing is ensuring one has private insurance that bridges the gap until Canadian healthcare kicks in

Meta, apple, Netflix don’t really hire interns in Canada, google is already done and only Amazon hires a lot of interns in Canada and for summer term they hire throughout the year till like march or April

Us posts their summer positions and fill their hc in the fall and hire for new hc in the winter
