I've got two Masters degrees (M.Sc. + MBA). There are few jobs out there that pay well enough to be worth applying for. I'm lucky that I'm self employed but even for that I'm mostly relying on the US market. It's increasingly difficult to make things work in Canada. Wages for just about any position I see job postings for are significantly lower than in the US. The contrast with my parents generation where a Bachelor's degree wasn't even a requirement for many well paying positions is pretty extreme. I think a rethink of the entire social contract is needed at this point.

I'm considering E2... but, I also live a 20 minute drive from the US border and for certain things could reasonably commute. It could be a much shorter commute than say Toronto would be for me. Inflation+high interest rates are a difficult combination for my own businesses to navigate, getting some amount of supplemental income from part time or fractional/contract work could help bridge some gaps.

E2 is an investor visa. Also basically works as a green card for your spouse from what I understand but I haven't looked too deeply into it yet
