To claim the vast majority of govt subsidized CS education benefits the US more than Canada ignores the fact that waterloo SE is literally one of if not the hardest programs to get into in the entire country and the ~120 students that it has are some of the most job oriented and ambitious students ever
So you have a survey that 77% of the 120 students responded to, and 85% of them are going to the US, so about 70 students go to the US out of the tens of thousands of engineering and cs grads across all of canada and its an issue? Yea sure remove government subsidization, its not like the fact that the programs 17k a year tuition is a problem

The reality is the job board has been garbage for the past 3 years with lots of big US companies pulling out, employers stopped doing specific info sessions for waterloo, and most people who get the cracked jobs are finding them externally
Before there were waterloo specific postings for google/fb/amazon etc. now the only US companies are literally random startups youve never heard off
Its just a glorified trades school, the success is due to the fact that students who come here are career driven, not the school itself
The only objective advantage that waterloo offers is finding internships for your freshman and sophmore year, after that the advantage diminishes drastically cause 98% of the jobs are canadian companies
