This is a bit of a mixed story. My team publishes (fixed income) indices which a lot of fixed income funds track. There are passive funds (purely just tracking an index/benchmark, automatically rebalanced every month) and their are active funds (where the goal is to do as well or even better than similar passive funds). What I've heard is that many active funds, despite having hands-on involvement from fund managers, often only do about as well as passive funds. But some active funds do outpace passive funds, so it's not a one-sided story.
But I guess to answer your question, you're probably not missing much if you stick to index funds

Maybe in a long term Ford could be good. I see their potential output to be massive, but that's not going to be an overnight thing. Your also going to have to ingrain into a lot of men that their big V8 trucks aren't the future and that the EV Truck is, which could be tough for the not so loyal ford fan base of truck enthusiasts.

I think it all depends on what happens tomorrow. If it doesn't retract back to it's IPO price it could still find solid in the mid to low 40s, but if it does retract back to IPO price I'd imagine it will stay around that price for the rest of the week.
Though my verdict is bullish I think it's definitely a company that has more than it's IPO value

Yes that was the gist of what I was betting on. In this particular case it went wayyy above $570 though. You also got to account for the premium I paid for the contract which was $400 in this case so to be "in the money" I needed it to go above $574

Hey can anybody explain how a 401k works? I'm trying to set it up with my company through Fidelity and it's asking me for 2 things. One is the desired contribution per pay period for Pre-tax (which I think is the 401k) and the other is asking for the desired contribution per pay period for ROTH. My company won't match for a year but regardless I want to contribute as much as I can because my cost of living is very low. Any advice would help thanks.

first is traditional 401k, which is pretax, your capital gains and income will be taxed when you take money out; the second is roth 401k, it's post tax but you don't pay capital gains or income tax when you take money out
it's similar to a roth ira but a little more restrictive on what you can invest in and take money out for, but also lets you put more money in per year
the typical rule with a 401k, traditional or roth, is that you can take money out of it once you're 65
if you take money out before you pay some penalties
the advantage is that you can get around a lot of taxes
