the purchase is just an accounting trick. Bitcoin are consider assets so you can depreciate the value when calcualting net cash flow which affects your taxes.

But what I don't understand is how that works ( need a cpa here to explain) but my understanding is that if value bitcoin eats shit, Tesla can write that off. But if Bitcoin moons, tesla doesn't have to record its positive val b/c its only taxable at sale (which seems dumb tbh).

Plus with the pending infra bill and the realization of the importance of infra on things like pandemics, and people's reluctance to keep buying tech at these evaluations, I think money will move away from tech in the next couple of years
