Loooks hype
A lot of new stuff being built in that area re-doing a lot of stuff on road by water would definitely say immediate surrounding area is safe
I see I see
Anyone here had an Amazon internship in seattle? What is the most popular housing option?
anyone know about/looking for housing near Salesforce bellevue?
i think most people lived in the university district
yo. it says "invalid invite"
Chance Microsoft and Amazon are in person this summer?
Amazon allowed you to choose between in hybrid or virtual last so probably the same this year
Hybrid?! How does that work?
you live near office and can choose how many days to go to office. Differs between intern and what manager wants
Yeah it’s super team dependent, I was hybrid but never actually met my team in person
I did check out a bunch of other amazon offices tho lol
You can pretty much go to any office you want if they have agile desks
Is there a server for Seattle interns?
menlo park vs seattle for fb full time? im having a really hard time deciding. Seattle seems nicer for cheaper col compared to menlo park but im not sure if the weather will make me think otherwise. It would be nice to be in menlo park to experience main hq but rent for a decent place is pretty expensive...
menlo park also kinda far from SF so i guess its harder to visit SF more frequently
I live in Seattle and would choose Menlo Park. Ever since the pandemic hit its hard dealing with the crappy weather especially with having to do a lot outings/ eating outside. I’ve had enough outdoors dining experiences with rainy/cold weather.
U can’t eat indoor even with vax card?
When I was there this summer people were eating in restaurants dont think there was distancing either bars seemed pretty packed too
You can just might be to many so it either nothing or outside
A lot of rules have changed since summer
idk its hard to say where i would be happier since i have never visited both locations
Does anyone know of any startups/local companies that are hiring interns in the Seattle area?
same lol, i'm shocked hearing that the variants are hitting seattle hard
everything was practically back to normal this summer aside from some restaurants requiring outdoor seating
yea the summer felt strangely normal lol
Is the commute from Seattle to Bellevue a mess? I'm wondering if I should get a place in Seattle instead of closer to the office
no wonder the booster shot appointments filled up so fast
As for commuting, always possible for traffic, especially big city. Had that happen, week day, week end, during times in the day where you wouldn't expect to have traffic it will be there.
kinda shitty, but light rail will be in bellevue soon
Emerging from the tunnel connecting the East Main station from the south, this street-level station at Northeast 6th Street serves downtown Bellevue near the ex
There are only 2 ways across and toll road is way more convenient not some easy get there real quick commute will be a train in 2023
Damn that kinda sucks :/ So I guess I'd be get a place in Bellevue and commute on the weekend to go out then
And have to take into account parking costs in city probs about 50-75 more a month than Bellevue if you were planning on car no matter where
But if you are like go out person a lot then might be worth being in city
I mean, I like going to cafés and stuff, less so clubs and I don't plan on having a car so I would mostly use public transport or Uber
True some companies do have commuter buses and there are city buses as well for the commute if you decide the city and then eventually train
Yeah honestly I would choose to live in Bellevue and commute to Seattle. And if you go out on Sundays, there’s free parking in downtown. The east side has cuter cafés imo
is there a discord server for seattle full time?
Thanks guys!
What is the light rail?
The train a form of public transportation
o its just called the light rail
Yup
Common name for mostly above ground trains that run on electricity Denver has it as well
so the light rail is being built across the bridge i heard
Anyone know if living and working in SLU if owning a car is necessary?
Definitely can go without one
Bellevue has some niceeee 2b2b for like 1.5k a month
Ive never seen that before
Downtown bellevue is like just as expensive as seattle
I’ve been looking all week
Yeah, and I feel like Zillow and apartments.com aren't a good resource
anyone have any recommendations for websites to use to look for apartments?
I tried the above 2, they're not that great
whats wrong with them?
fb marketplace has gems
As soon as I add "air condition" the numbers drastically goes down, and it doesn't have those apartment listed which have AC
I mean air condition is not common

Time to just buy a small indoor unit
You probably don't need AC at all unless there is a heat wave
Welcome to Seattle lol, maybe with last summer’s heat wave there will be more ac places but if I had to guess prob like 80-90% don’t have ac rn
Does anyone happen to know if the Facebook Seattle office has free employee parking? (edit: my recruiter says no but you get free public transportation)
...I was there during those heat waves. Terrible, I had selected on filter that my apartment have AC, but somehow mine did not have AC. Other than those rare occurrences though general day in Seattle is nice.
There are some properties that like the old half of complex doesn’t have air and newer half does which can make it tricky so best to just ask about that
yeah A/C is an issue
If you can rent an indoor A/C would be pog
Although they tend to sell out quickly once summer rolls around because we’ve been getting blasted recently

the whole city practically shut down lmfaooo
Yeah my shithole at derby was 95 inside lmao
My stubborn ass didn’t go into the air conditioned offices until my mac started overheating
tbh the whole summer is pretty warm if you are used to having ac
nope i went after the first day when i woke up in a literal pool of sweat.. i was like nvm i need to go
nah it wasnt that bad until the heatwave
then again my dorm doesnt have a/c so i kinda got used to it lol
same was dying
Opening the window at night to exchange the air and closing it before it got too hot outside helped
are there any facebook groups for new grads joining facebook seattle?
any new grad group for amazon seattle?
Happy to make one
I’m sure there was that larger amazon discord someone linked
Hey are the parking fees listed on Zillow a one time thing?
Or do I need to pay that along with my rent?
Parking is paid monthly in city will be over 200/month for most part
thanks
What, I haven't found a single place charging that much
I've seen mostly like 75-100
Some have free parking too
Like moda
Hm well when I was searching that is what it was idk and walking around random garages have signs outside with prices like that
Yeah but that is gonna be for places that don't have parking
You can find places with parking
Or don’t have enough parking for everyone my place in SLU is $225 for a space has an underground parking garage below apartment
And in Google reviews it says moda is $220 don’t think parking is free just because they list it as an amenity
can confirm, parking is an amenity you pay for in Seattle
Average is $150 for Apartment parking but it varies
People that left reviews said parking is free
At moda
And that there were plenty of spots
That they were able to get one all the time
Hm I see different but if it works out good for you just doubt it parking is scare commodity it’s not gonna be free
Or find a condo - parking usually comes for free
And more value for money in downtown
For new grad SDE @ amazon, Is it possible to predict which among Bellevue, Redmond, and Seattle would be the final placement for a "Greater Seattle Area" offer? Or is it random?
Nope
Someone got a slu office on his relo portal as an intern and still got bellevue
No way to know till you talk with manager unfortunately
Your portal will change from like “greater Seattle area” to like “Seattle, Washington” or “Bellevue, Washington” and according to student programs it is your planned city but there’s no guarantee that it won’t change later
Thanks 🙂
Is there a Meta-Seattle Discord Server for new grads? I am trying to look for a roommate but doesn't really know where to start
is there a Tableau/Salesforce sever for summer 2022 interns?
Hello dear friends and buddies with same goal, dose anyone go though the Amazon summer intern Virtual interview for Seattle? Do you mind I get some advice from you, Thank you in advanced! Bless you
I went through it last year, idk how much different it is this year but grinding amazon tagged for like a week was enough for me
Also your location doesn’t affect interview so any advice you read online for amazon should apply
there is
when do you start? im looking for roomies as well
guys help
how do i negotiate well?
in which channel should i ask for negotiating help?
added you. Let's talk over DM?
Interns don’t usually negotiate, so the #2022_grads might be the best channel
Hey yall,
I am a new grad moving to Seattle for my first job. I am from San Jose and my trying to find people to get in touch in Seattle. Possibly looking for a roomate/place to live as well. HMU!!!
how much do you guys pay for housing
Anyone have a Microsoft Discord?
can someoen send the amazon intern discord
can someone send google discord
lmao that’s the r/google server
like for google products and stuff
^ server for employees lol
What would be considered a good price for a one bedroom apartment in Seattle?
anything below 2k, no?
Is the average 2k? Or am I getting ripped off
A standard 1 bedroom in city is def gonna be over 2k more like 2500+ at newer nice places urban 1 bed can save you money
Depends
If you’re in UDist and above it’s around 1800-2200 for a 1 bed
If you’re near SLU and all the big companies in south seattle you’re looking at like 2400 avg I’d you want something nice
Yeah depends on location for sure
Goddamn it is expensive on the west coast
yeah i pay ~$2.1k for a 1br but i also pay utilities for the building which end up being like $200-$300 extra so functionally ~$2.4k. expensive but i honestly feel pretty good abt that in cap hill
That's reassuring, I'll try to aim for that
I work in Redmond and I want to live in Seattle am I really stuck with a 1 hour commute? 😭
(Using public transport)
Yep
If it’s public transport you’re looking at 1 he
1hr*
In 2023 the light rail to Redmond from Seattle opens up which will lower it to ~30 min
aye, well it’s mostly just expensive near big tech
You can rent a nice 3 bed 2 bath house 30-40ish minutes north of Redmond for 2000
but the trade off is that there’s nothing to do up north
and you need a car
and during rush hour the traffic makes it a lot worse than living in Seattle and commuting to Redmond

Hey guys,
I am a 22 year old graduate from San Jose State University. I am moving from San Jose to Seattle and would like to get a place with a private room, preferably offering connectivity to downtown through one link or the bus. I am open to roommates, or a single place. I am looking for anything less than $1000/month. If you have something in mind, feel free to reach out and would love to talk more about it.
Any female Seattle interns looking for a place from mid May here?
anyone have the amazon discord?
Can someone send the microsoft discord again?
Might be moving to Seattle, are there recommendation of areas to AVOID lol
Like sketchy areas or whatever
Anyone have the meta interns discord ?
thank you !
New grad SDE at Seattle..from July 2022. Looking for roommates for an apartment in Downtown.. Not too tight on the budget (~1.6k a month per person). I watch a lot of sports, workout and hike often. Would love to share an apartment with someone on a similar vibe! Hit me up if interested! 😄
try airbnb app

is there a server for people moving to seattle 2022? I saw the old link but it says invalid
yea https://discord.gg/9bvamf65 @bleak storm
this prolly sounds vague but what's a good intern salary for software intern in Seattle? It's at a startup and they said that they expect interns to work just like full times since they're small and they have a lot of work
Idk if I should negotiate
how much they offering
Mind if i dm u
Is there a Seattle area intern discord? Not company specific (I already joined that) but more for things like finding roomates/socials/etc.
^ i also might need that
Any intern still looking for a place to live in Seattle this Summer?
Can anyone send Amazon intern discord?
Can anyone send Meta intern discord?
Is roosevelt a nice area to live in?
Any WhatsApp group for new grads/interns 2022 for Seattle area?
@bleak storm it’s ok, has a link station now, close to green lake restaurants, but it’s a little bit isolated from main areas
@bleak storm if you want a quieter area it’s pretty nice
Not much to do in Roosevelt itself tho
Any one has Amazon intern discord?
Can I get Meta please?
Thank you!
How good is public transportation in the Greater Seattle area? I got an offer from Amazon and there's no mention of shuttles so I guess that I have to take care of transportation
anyone have a summer sublease available?
yea
it's not too bad, some buses come once an hour others are ~30 mins at a time, the subway is being extended to the greater seattle area so itll be a lot easier to take the train to get to downtown
buses are almost never on time tho lol they're usually late/early by like 5-10 mins
sometimes even more
so it's somewhat unreliable but there's an app that keeps track of the bus schedule in real time
Sounds decent enough. Transportation was my main concern since I don't have a car or license. Thanks!
Is Seattle very "bro"-ye ?
what's "bro"-ye
Is there a server for amazon interns ?
Can I dm you?
anyone looking for a roommate/housing? 🙂
i start may23
Does anyone have an invite to the Microsoft discord channel?
I start in may too
guys how long does it take for microsoft to reply after the final round?
got an email one week after from a recruiter asking if i would still be available should an offer be extended, then one week after that status changed to completed and got the offer the next day
so two weeks total after final round
Microsoft discord invite?
3 days for me
Hey guys
Is there a Microsoft Intern discord/ group chat?
If I’m working in Downtown Seattle what’s the most affordable area to live in with a decent commute?
SLU I guess
slu is popping
So many people out and about lot more foot traffic recently

Moving to Seattle May of 2023 for Amazon, lookin for friendos
Anyone got the google intern discord?
also does anyone know the good places to live downtown in Seattle. I'm from out of state so I don't know what districts be popping.
any tips to finding housing in/near downtown seattle?
SLU (for peace/quiet), Capitol Hill (for nightlife), or Denny Triangle (mixed balance of the 2). Lower Queen Anne is a popular neighborhood but it's not as convenient to downtown as the other 3
if anyone trying to find room mates in downtown seattle dm me
Is alley24 a good apartment for rent?

anyone looking for roomates this summer in seattle
Created a server for people (new grads + ) moving to Seattle in 2022 for full time job. Join and make friends and find people to hang with
interns aren't people
Anyone got the link for Google’s discord server
seattle amazon summer intern server?
Hi! Is anyone interning in Amazon at Seattle this summer?
Prob at least like 5000 other people lol
which area are you looking to live in? also budget
@storm moon@ruby jungle can see the amazon intern link if u scroll up
slu is where all of the offices are, and is a pretty quiet area but tons of nice apartments there. I used to live in orion apartments which was pretty nice and not too expensive; republican and 8th is a little less nice, but cheaper
I've also have friends at mark on 8th, modera, and juxt. juxt is a bit further from 'central' slu, but rly close to fb offices
modera is also pretty reasonably priced and not bad, have a lot of friends who live there; tellus is also beside modera, and rly nice but on the pricier side
I bought a house lol
I've never lived there, but modera is prob the best bang for the buck, apartments are clean and nice (nothing 'luxury' though) and they're huge so they have pretty good amenities/office staff
I've only been to modera slu
I work at google and live in fremont now
2.5 years
the TC is not that great, but I like it; super chill, great work life balance. Anybody can get hired if they pass the interviews 🤷♀️ and I don't think it's too hard to get interviews either
Will I be able to find UW students that have off campus housing that are willing to rent out their place for the summer?
anyone at facebook seattle - got questions
Hey everyone, is anyone looking for a roommate in seattle?, In the month of april/May
Can you resend this link!!
Thanks!!
Any one subletting a room/apt in seattle from mid may to mid aug?
So what are people doing for housing lmao
not buying any housing
Airbnb is a good option if you have roommates
Is living on a boat at a dock a viable option for Seattle?
Only on tuesdays
How's first hill?
i think the ambulances are loud there too
i know some interns i met who lived in first hill complained about the noise
Oh interesting, so is capitol hill the best move?
do you care about nightlife?
I think it's nice to have an option of fun things to do
But not obsessed with it
imo in that case live close to cap hill but not in it
Is south queen anne good then u think?
south queen anne is quite a bit from caphill so if you wanna go out every once and a while it'll be a trip
imo SLU prob best where you're central to different things you can do but not like living directly in it
only downside is things close maddd early in SLU
also check out the pinned pdf if you haven't already
its a doc made by amazon people but i'd say there's some good general advice too
yeah like in the weekends its absolutely filled with people
yeah like i went to cap hill a few times during the summer and it was great but i feel like i'd go nuts living there
amazon also has their own private security too i think
U think south queen anne would be good too?
queen anne is super suburban the more north you get, and south queen anne's like right on the border of SLU
its pretty safe
Still some good bars and clubs near there too?
not really, south queen anne/SLU is more coffee shops
there's random bars here and there but all the good ones are in cap hill or like denny
Isn't south queen anne near denny?
well like if you live right smack near the space needle yeah lol
cap hill is def where most the bars are at tho
Oh ok lol. Yea I think ill go with south queen anne then, but I'll think about it more after I visit
dont live
next to cap hill
LOL
@scenic hull
I just went to visit for a week
Im from chicago, and seattle is MORE shady than chicago LOL
Live in bellevue trust
i heard seattle did get more sus lately
i was there during the summer and slu was pretty chill
Hey guys. I am going to be interning at Amazon this summer. I am a 1st year BS/MS student at UNC. DM me if you are interested in rooming together
Is there any group for Amazon interns?
I realize this is a late reply but I do this rn and basically got very very lucky. Live aboard slips are hard to come by and marina managers can be picky about who gets them. Finding an available slip for your boat can be hard enough. Some people "sneak aboard" to stay discreet but that's not ideal.
It's nice in the summer and can be very cheap if you don't spend a lot of money on engine or boat upkeep. Very cold in the winter though.
ayo
hello! I am still looking for summer housing mid-may to mid-august. lmk if anyone has any leads
+1
+1
You can do intern summer housing through university of washington!
Should I buy a car in seattle?
I'm not an intern, but just curious. U need to actually go there to do that? Or it's open to any1?
nope! Its open to everyone who’s an intern in the seattle area
Oh interesting! Thanks
Do you know how can I apply for this?
Theres a website for it i would google uw intern housing
depends on where you’d wanna live in Seattle/how often you’d like to leave Seattle (if you’re big on the outdoors, etc.)
You Should
I never driven on highway before, u think it's a good idea? Stuff definitely getting broken 😂
Lol trust me I had a rental car and haven’t driven in ages it’s super easy roads in Seattle
Ok good to hear
there are also a good amount of gig cars
if you dont want to pay for parking/dont plan on driving a ton
Yeah gotta factor parking cost into equation of deciding whether to buy or not
yeah I have been checking for two months now and the app is still not open lol
well i mean its also april
true
i think i applied in may!
The intern housing starts on june 18th now i guess
which is a bit late thats kind of strange
anyway how was your experience
my internships starts from mid may so ig i will have to find housing elsewhere for a month
honestly really good! the beds are janky and theres no a/c but like living there was so fun a lot of interns also lived there so it was very easy to make friends and the uw ppl were very considerate they gave us $30 for laundry credit and had vacuum rentals and a gym was included with it! i really liked it!
oh that sounds fantastic
i think there are a few apartments in the uw area tho that do short term leases as well!
I've seen places go as high as $400/mo
I think in downtown a car isn't needed but you can always get the occasional gig car for a road trip outdoors or something
From a legal standpoint you may be better off using rentals or gig cars that are covered by liability insurance
you could potentially have a car where both of you are drivers on the insurance but idk if that'd be cheaper than gig
anyone interning this summer still looking for (female) roommate? dm me
Anyone looking for a female roommate this summer May-August? Dm welcome 🙂
does anyone know a good apartment in Bellevue ?
I actually just went to bellevcue last weeek
to tour 8 apts feel free to dm
I can also help u with roommate and stuff

Dm for more details.
What is the average rent in Cap hill?
how big of an issue is crime in seattle?
depends on zipcode
Lqa u think?
U think wearing jewelry in public is an issue?
Queen Anne is pretty safe
Okay cool. Good to hear
Anyone looking for a roommate in Seattle from late May - mid August? DM me!
what's the typical New Grad salary in Seattle (FAANG)?
2022 Amazon is this: 129k base, 27.775/29.9 year 1 and 2 bonus, 95k stocks
Google is 127k base, 90k stocks, 15% target bonus, no sign-on
Hey all, I am looking for housing in seattle closer to amazon office for my summer internship. Any leads?
i just rented at derby SLU last summer, absolutely shitbox but its mad cheap lol
How much are you paying if you dont mind me asking?
Issue this year is it is back to quarters calendar which is like late June pandemic made it nice to be anytime
That’s super low compared to mtv offer
does goog only get to 200k after nego?
for m/lcol?
no hcol, unless the 100k stock isnt split over 4 years
ah ok, yea I didnt see that
Do you need proof of offer letter to nego and how do they do it scale by col or cost of labor?
Yes and cost of labor
How many rooms
Hey 1bed room living room & kitchen
@gentle quarry ^
Sadly, I'll have to pass
Hi, I received Amazon sde offer. Will be joining around June end or July mid.
Who is planning to join? So we can have catch up during that time
is there a microsoft discord server
is levels.fyi off or is this a crazy offer
levels shows 165k TC for new grad
That’s standard offer it was greatly increased from 2021 though which was:
116k base, 27/23 year 1 and 2 bonus, 86k stocks
Lol well those are the standard offers I work at Amazon that’s what I got in 2021 and what every new grad got for 2022
Keep in mind stocks aren’t 25% each year
2021 TC is ~150k
2022 TC is ~167k
5/15/40/40% vesting schedule
how do you already know 2022 TC?
It’s for anyone who started in 2022 so offers given out in 2021 for 2022 starts, 2023 is still unknown
omg I thought this year is 2021 💀 forgot that my Amazon's offer is 2022 too, about that amount as well
Actually 2021 was 120k base I’m pretty sure
Nope 116.1k that was year of my offer
nvm the numbers match up extremely well then
Oh wait does my summer 2021 return offer count as 2021 or 2022
Because my return offer had 120k base
2022 initial offers had 120k base then it was raised to 129k
Dates are based off when you would start work
Ohh I see my b I’m dumb
Hi, I am currently working with amazon and planning to switch. I am in discussion with MS and Meta recruiter regarding scheduling an interview [SDE2]. I want know which companies gives option to move to seattle or bay area. I am moved to canada because my H1B was not picked.
is it common for H1B to be not picked up even after 3 tries?
Heard of many cases but the chance is not that high
assuming 25% for masters/phd cap and 36% for regular cap. Which are 2020 numbers, and will probably be lower for subsequent years.
You get
For someone with a bachelors: .64^3 = 26.2% proba of not being picked after 3 years
For someone with a masters/phd: .64^3*.75^3 = 11.06% proba of not being picked after 3 years
Now that's for the math. For the anecdote, my roommate with a masters missed the lottery 3 times and now has to leave the US
ive heard someone who didnt get picked 6 years running lol, bs then ms w/ no luck. ended up getting transferred to canada n still waiting for h-1b there
South lake union or lower queen anne
Does anybody know what the salary payband is for Amazon L4 in Seattle?
the avg isnt the best thing to look at since it most likely includes all the outdated offers
current new grad standard is 129k base
yeah i'm assuming the ones higher or lower are industry hires
There's a mix of actual positions in there too
well they're all SDE I (L4)
Looks like ~160k is the highest base for seattle
Do you guys want tickets to the mariners vs kc friday 22 Two tickets 640pm
Also Mariners vs kc friday 24 110pm 3 tickets
Ill sell them for super cheap
dm me

uw intern housing already waitlisted 😦
does anyone has Amazon New Grad group?
How does living cost in the Bay Area compare to Seattle ?
prices on average are at least 1k less a month for studios/apts
probably the other way around, then?
Any advice for a summer intern looking for housing in Redmond? I know a lot of students sublet in the Seattle area, but ideally want a place closer to Redmond.
yo anyone know abt some housing in Seattle?
My start date is May 23rd, but I can't seem to really find too much
At the Re-invent office
What is iqa? Slu
Oh okay.
Thank you
@eternal sable could you send a new invite to the amazon group?
Is there one for Microsoft?
How is their nature?
I had one around $1350
Where did you find it?
DXU
4230 11th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105
(206) 633-9987
I mean where did you find it as in through Facebook groups or.. ?
How was it?
I am yet to move in
Anyone living in the Seattle area (willing to relocate) with 1 year working experience in software development? Should dm me for job opportunities.
I will returning(2x) to Amazon this summer as SDE intern (Seattle). Any estimation for my salary in case I get full-time offer?
129k base
28k-30k sign on 1st year 2nd year
95k stocks with 5-15-40-40 schedule
10k for returning intern
^ maybe more if you don't go through Student Programs.
All return interns get the same offer, and it’s extra signon for both years
how much is typical rent in seattle?
~$3,000
damn @echo scroll, I need that jay-Z base
yeah its more cheaper outside of seattle so thats where I would look
I gotchu
there are plenty of rents lower than 3k - i pay 2050 downtown for a single
Is Seattle really like 3k? I thought it was like 2.5-2.6 tops
yea, if you have roommates you can do like 1.8 pretty ez
We talking like SLU or Denny/belltown
i live in SLU
maybe mans got a whole ass family 🤣
Yeah maybe 2bed or something lol
2200 is my rent in SLU
Any Canada -> Seattle folks here?
Looking for a roomate in Bellevue area starting June

I’m targeting 1b1b with ac/no carpet/washer n dryer in the dennny/belltown/uptown area and am finding things around 2.6-2.8k yep
Where did you find the place?
Zillow

What rhe hell no way
I am paying $1335
i opted for kinda bougie cause housing stipend

amazon
its not a lump sum?
6.7k or smth
my housing stipend last summer was like 6.5k total
nice
your stipend gets taxed btw
v sad
ah nvm its grossed up
but yeah that's wild bro
i ended up living in a shitbox for 1.2k last summer lmfao
my entire rent and food was covered by housing stipend lol
i did know some people who went above but i dont think anyone was paying more than like 2.3k
fair enough
but the place is right near everything
SLU?
niiice
was like a 400sqft studio
yeah this one's just under 500 i think
still not as bad as those ultra cheap apartments for like 800 a month
wtf are they called apodments i think
those are like 200sqft lmao
checked those out almost had me

The house im in rn is $4400/mo and fits 6 people lmao
it'll be a change of pace moving out there

not afaik just the beeg one
damn better get a new one started
the intern slack gets pretty popping tho
there was this one guy last summer who crowdfunded some insane shit like a boat party and a party in this crazy venue downtown with a dj
yeah was like $50 a person i think and there were like 100 people at least at each one
Lmfao i know that guy
were you in seattle last summer?
Yea
yoooooo
Not for amazon tho
gotcha
You in Seattle now?
nah i'm from ny and moving to austin now, but it was def fun times last summer lol
i didnt go to the boat but i went to the one downtown haha
Above the M?
i forgot the exact venue at this point but it was like that place downtown with the DJ
Hi Seattlers... What's average rent for a 1 bedroom these days in your town?
hey is anyone looking for roommates in Seattle/Bellevue area? I have an internship there and am having trouble finding people..
looking for a studio from around 6/10-9/3, if anyones got some resources for places near SLU/Amazon, hit my line thanks
Hey y'all I am looking for a roomate to share 2b2b apartment starting Jun 15 in Seattle . I am planning to sign 12month lease
Anyone who has stayed at the Marriott Convention Center what’s are some pros and cons of the building and area in Seattle. My stay is short term.
Has anybody else not gotten a response from emailing graebel about flying out to Seattle
It’s a really nice area, close to a lot of downtown seattle scenes like pike place, Jeff bezos’s nuts and cap hill
Be careful on 3rd Ave tho, things get slightly sketchy at night
My company is using Altair and my internship starts in 2 weeks and we are also getting our relocation information late
Bet 😂 I’m make sure to visit the nuts & cap hill since I heard that’s where the night life is
Bet thanks for the advice
My apartment is also literally a block away so lmk if you need any help with the area or want to meet up
anyone in SLU?
which office were u assigned to?
What do you mean? Lol I’m not Amazon anymore if that’s what you mean so there’s only one building
You good bro I’m at Expedia. Did y’all already get your relocation information
i mean i started full time in march haha so ya
Oh shit 😂 congrats and how soon before your start date did they contact you

Anyone know the difference between FB's Seattle and Bellevue offices? Or more generally, opinions on Bellevue vs. Seattle?
Bellevue office is small. Basically one floor in a tower. Seattle is huge
?
completely incorrect
bellevue has 3 offices rn
and 2 more are being built
they’re bigger than the seattle ones
Hey could you send this invite again?
Thanks
Do you recommend to join one office or the other? Seattle vs. Bellevue?
Oh. I guess my confusion comes from the fact that there's a Seattle (DT) office and a Bellevue office on my job posting. Since my recruiter was asking for a specific office, I thought you were placed into one or the either
anyone got good recommendations for grocery stores in belltown lol
anyone know of good housing near amazon building? (ideally 1 bedroom appartment)
Also id like to meet others in the area and might be open to roomated as well, hmu if you're interested
oh i thought it was just some weird dream i had
in case anyone else has this question, the answers are hmart/target (in downtown), whole foods (SLU) or safeway/QFC/metropolitan market (queen anne’s hill)
none of which are in belltown lol

neetcode
Finally, thank you!
Why did you ask in #seattle ?
Where was I supposed to post it to?
lol
Anyways - do any Bay Area locals have opinions on how good or bad the Seattle weather is, particularly winter/fall?
I've talked to lots of people who grew up in Seattle and thus continue to enjoy it, but nobody in my circle has gone from Bay Area to Seattle for more than just a summer internship
Hey! I’m full-time (22), looking for one roommate for a 2b2b I found in Seattle next to cap hill for ~$1600/month, planning on moving in June or July. Im originally from the bay area. I’m easygoing, enjoy exploring the city & hiking, and prefer to keep the common areas clean. no smoking also. DM me if you’re interested!
Hi, anyone looking for flatmates in Seattle or has any recommendation? Ik this is really late and I'm flying to Seattle tomorrow. Don't have a place yet. Amazon Intern.
hi everyone! subleasing my apartment in seattle near UW starting mid june, it's a 3 bed and it's $750 per month. let me know if you're interested 🙂
How much is cost of first month for seattle apartment in SLU on average?
studio: 1.2k-1.5k
1br: 1.6-2.5k
2br: 2.7k+
may be slightly off
you can check on zillow/any rentals sites though
First month?
That seems extremely low
I'm not talking about monthly payment
But like first month payment
I mean you will just pay first months rent Seattle has renter friendly laws so not gonna had a bunch of stuff on top
you mean with the deposit & stuff?
deposit is usually equal to first month rent, so before you move in you'd most likely have:
application fee ~ $50 avg
deposit (which is equal to monthly rent)
monthly rent for first month
security deposit ~$200-300
so total would be like 50 + 300 + (monthly rent * 2)
did you already rent an apartment in seattle or are you just saying how it usually is elsewhere. Just asking, never rented apartment before
@bright dirge is saying that there are renter friendly laws
I'm renting one right now & applying to others atm. I think what they're trying to say is that renter-friendly laws protect you from like shady fees. Like landlords/apt owners can't just charge you bogus fees for no reason
oh okay so if my apartment cost lets say 2200
for monthly rent
that would still apply?
Most likely; it all depends on the specific apartment tbh but in general those fees will apply (ie deposits & app. fees)
so 6k is reasonable to have then u would say
So I'd prepare to pony up about 5-6k yeah
okay cool thanks
Np, gl with search
yea i found apartments already in slu
but visiting in a couple weeks to actually sign lease
and scope seattle abit
do you think prices will rise randomly after lease expires ?
or do laws in seattle prevent that
Not sure, haven't heard a lot of cases for that & not sure bout the laws either
But in my lease, they did mention that the landlords can adjust rent at will depending on what they deem fit; tho i'd assume there'd be some renters protection from increases without proper excuse
Does anybody have a good estimate for how to 'convert' Seattle dollars to Bay Area dollars or vice versa? Want to be able to understand roughly what each offer can get me
There really is no clear cut way, because everyone’s col is affected by their lifestyle
Yea there’s tables and shit of equivalencies but I think those are bullshit tbh
Well this is primarily for me to negotiate tbh
Your best bet is start off by figuring out your take home for each offer
So biweekly or monthly depending on how they pay out
If you wanna look on numeo for grocery price comparisons or whatever you can but I really don’t think that matters since you can find cheap groceries basically everywhere
Gas prices are another factor if you drive
In your experience, is this a useful line of reasoning during negotiations? Like can I say "Hey this number really looks like number + 15% because of COL differences, I need you to adjust upwards"?
Saying “I need you to adjust upwards” will get you nowhere lmao
Maybe this would be helpful? https://tgeonetta.com/cost-of-living-vs-salary-best-cities-for-software-developers-and-engineers/
Not sure how far you can get with that for negotiations though
Also the article's from 2015 so it might be outdated
Temporary housing in Sept
Idk if this is the right place to say this, but: Is anyone here looking for temporary accommodation/stay in September (for around ~2 weeks or so)? I have an 800+ sqft 1b1b available in the u-district area in Seattle (my lease starts on Sept 12th, but I won't be moving in until the last week of Sept or the first week of Oct.)
It's around 3 miles from most tech offices in SLU, and takes about 15-20 mins to commute by bus, or 6-10 mins by car, depending on traffic. Around 40/45 mins commute to Bellevue/Redmond by bus.
DM me if you're interested, lol.
How to ban rain?
Thx
Anyone knows when most apartments will be available? I was thinking maybe in August that interns leave but not sure if my guess is correct
What is this
U can pay in 6mth installments
U can pay that in 6ths
Rent total?
Like move in fees
Renters who are moving in with rental agreements for 6 months or longer can choose to pay their deposit, move-in fees, and last month’s rent in 6 equal monthly installments
Is this a legal rule
That's insane
Only applies to Seattle thk
yo where at, i like tea
u district
near university of washington
i live nearby

Hello,

Hello! I am looking to lease out a room from july30 to august 26 in my 2bed2bath apartment in the Bellevue redmond area for around 1300 - dm me if you are interested
Looking for Housing/Roommates in Seattle Area!!
-Bellevue or Capitol Hill
-Short walking distance to a connector stop
Budget: $1600 House: 2 or 3 bedroom
Lease Date: After July 16th
—
My name is Cindy Lay and I’m starting as a PM at Microsoft on August 8th. I’m looking to move in as soon as July 16th! My budget is around $1600. I’m looking for 1-2 other roommates to fill a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment. I’m also happy to join other housing groups as well!
I don’t have a car so Capitol Hill would be ideal but I’m also looking at living in Bellevue for the shorter commute. I’m very clean about communal spaces— bathroom, kitchen etc. and good about cleaning them regularly.
I’m 22 years old and graduated from Claremont McKenna in Southern California. I’ve most recently lived in Seoul, South Korea but have moved a lot of places growing up. I’ve roomed well with a lot of different personalities and am pretty chill and accommodating.
In my free time I love to go on hikes, read books, and cafe hop. I do enjoy going out once in a while but I am pretty chill as well. I’m new to Seattle and would love to room with someone who enjoys exploring and trying new things! If you think we would be a good fit please dm me! You can also directly. insta: cindy_lay
me too

No, but I’ve interviewed there before (in person, back when it was possible)
I’ll be working from the Fremont office
you still need it?
@agile axle unblock me you mf. im going to google kirkland

not yet havent signe
d
maybe u should block him
Nah I’m already on it thanks bro
hey everyone, can someone guide me location should i fill in here?
i am from india and need some help with this 😄
these are the options
this is for amazon '23 summer intern position
I mean what are your preferences lol
They’ll most likely place you wherever they want btw
tbh, i got no idea. i've never been to the states
But indicate whatever places you’re interested in and hope for the best lol
I mean are you into big city vibes? The outdoors?
Beaches?
never been to a big city, would be lovely 😄
Put NY first
aye aye captain
Also Chicago? Interesting, I thought zon doesn’t have an office there lol
i've got no idea myself hehe
But yeah I mean you can do like ny, Boston, Seattle for example
putting up certain preferences would not make it more competitive or something, right?
just sayin
Nah they don’t even really take your prefs into account lol
They place you wherever
ahh thats great then
But it’s nice to at least think they’ll consider it lmao
High chance you’ll end up in Seattle tbh lol
The biggest offices I think are NY and Seattle
Or rather concentration of offices
Since they have a shitload of offices in those areas
But yeah if you end up in any amazon location with a ton of interns you’ll have a blast trust me lol
fingers crossed 🤞
I doubt NY has 2nd most headcount though Bay and eventually Virginia/DC will be bigger
NY is expanding too
ayo stop with the cloud seattle
Are there any computer science internships here that don't require a bachelors degree?
Generally internships are for students
You’ll need to look into apprenticeships
A few companies do them
They’re also called “early career pathways” stuff like that
Outside of the few companies that do, your only other option is FT jobs unfortunately
ahhh rip
How does everyone like living and working in seattle?
you'll love San Diego too
i would definitely love it 😄
but looks like amazon doesn't really love me, they didn't send OA 😂
