Iβm assuming job in here is software engineer. I have never seen anyone with phd degree working in this, except those: machine learning people, or data science which itβs not even the same majorβ¦ For a regular swe, I think bachelor degree is more than enough for this.
With that being said, master/phd degree has a very different range of knowledge that can really be used in a regular day of a swe.
I think you need to know what type of job youβre looking for? Then you can tell if that school really helps you later on

If I were you, I think trying to go for mscs for the best school you can, then you must get at least 1 good interns so at least you have 1 return offer after you finish your master. Then at the time you graduate, you have more options. Also, you can do ml ds at this point, I dont have experience on this so Iβm not sure if itβs harder than swe or not
With that being said, you need to identify two things: (1) what school is good school, and (2) how to get a good intern.
For international student like us, I think not having an internship is a big big downside because we only have 90 days to find a job after graduate
Also you said you were a economics major, I think when you figure out what school you going to, you can start studying the cs fundamentals and get some project done (this would take couple months, but good things is you can do it in the gap before grad school). By the time you start, you can catch up with stuff at school + get more projects. Then hopefully, after 1 or 2 quarters/semester, you land an internship. And make sure you do your best and I think you're much closer to what you want

This depends on a lot of things cause you also have a lot of options. Also most companies have their offices in all the places you mentioned. We are also moving into a more remote friendly environment with most companies so I believe you should be good either ways.

π so following along from the discussion I just had in #2022_grads, I've received an offer letter from Wise (London, UK) with a deadline of next Wednesday. I've been told that I will be sent the contract of employment after signing the offer letter. If I were to sign the offer letter and then receive a much better offer from Bloomberg later next week, am I legally in the clear to renege on the Wise offer?
