Half of the companies in #2024_grad_process & #2024_summer_intern_process do not sponsor visas to work in US & Canada. It will save us time while applying, because we know which companies are not hiring non-immigrant students for internship.

I've been consulting many resources. My friend was in the same scenario, and that's exactly what he did

For my situation, I asked my ISSS and they told me that my unemployment clock wouldn't start clicking. However, I do have the same reasoning as yours.

The only reasonable argument is that, because the employer made the promise that I'll return back to work after 2-3 weeks of being "furloughed", then my unemployment clock is fine. But I'll have to check on that

Ah no I just entered my second year. From what I remember, most FAANG companies gave a specific date quite early for when they're opening up apps (unlike the current year). For other companies they just came to our career fair.
Some companies were still accepting applications even around January-Feb-March-onwards IIRC.

@young moth The general premise of this work authorization stuff in the US as a F-1 student is that if you haven't graduated yet, you get 12 months of CPT. If you have graduated, you have (i think) 12 months of OPT. There are some terms and conditions to this but please talk to your school's international student person.

I've read RH got 50k applications on the first two weeks for internships

Keep in mind they have 1.2k employees at the moment

That means than even if every single one of their employees reviewed applications, they would still have to review 50+ each

And that's only for internships

Thats why it makes sense to use external services like CodeSignal and Karat

Someone pointed out that they would use CodeSignal to filter <700 scores, but im not sure about it

Some people have advanced in the process with 720/750 etc while others have been rejected with 840+

They definitely don't take that as the most important factor

But don't be discouraged, there are a lot of good companies out there!
