So, yesterday I came to know that it is nearly 2% to work as a PR. The F1+OPTs/CPTs cover some years of work permit however after that you most likely need to apply for H1B which are very tough.

If you are a non-US graduate, the process is even more hard making it nearly 0%.

As I did not know anything about these, this broke my heart. I have been practicing leetcode for quite some time and build my career upon fulfilling the requirements for those swe jobs. All for nothing probably.

Now, I am asking if there is any way to get into those fortune 100 companies if not faang, in any other way.
For example, applying in the German Branch, or any other EU branch? Or Canada branch?

Does anyone know how hard it is to get a work permit + internship/new grad position in Canada without a Canadian Degree or any other visa.

And what about Germany or other EU countries? Do they accept foreigners without a visa and sponsor for their visa? How hard is the process there?

For Canada I think you'd want the Federal Skilled Worker route, which is points-based (without a degree you'd need significant work experience and probably need to be bilingual English/French at native level to score highly enough)

I'm not from the UK but am from Canada and I think Canadian salaries are much better than UK salaries. New grad offers at FAANG can be $130k - 150k CAD TC. A normal company would start at $60-80k CAD. Another benefit is that a lot of US companies offer remote work from Canada which pay higher and if you're a Canadian citizen, you can work in the US indefinitely under a TN visa

OPT --> GC is heavily employer dependent, you need to talk to your manager to figure that out. Some employers are more than happy to sponsor GC without H1B, others might want to "test" you for a bit longer before they commit to GC. If you're not from backlogged country GC should "only" take you a few years at most. Once you've applied for GC you can stay and work in the US even w/ expired OPT and without a GC. Not sure about FAANG/big tech though, it might help, it might not. As long as you're not from WITCH you should be fine lol
