if you don’t have another offer could always accept
Then work for a bit while you keep looking
cuz money is money and new grad season is coming up
so you could reinterview and just not put it on your resume in fall
So is it flexible or is it 4 weeks PTO? Or do people take 4 weeks on average? Because that's kind standard afaik.
Btw flexible PTO is pretty much always a gimmick and sometimes people even end up taking less vacation time since it's not exactly "mandatory" (as in you have no vacation days to lose if you don't use them).
Also I'd be extremely wary of a company saying they'll give a raise a few months after you join. Anything that you don't have in writing in your offer letter should be ignored.
Gotcha. Yea it's possible they could give you a promotion/raise that soon, though I'd stay on the safer side and assume the guaranteed compensation (like salary) is all you have when you're doing any serious financial planning.
If you have a chance to talk to some engineers at the company, it would be nice to ask how much vacation they took last year or smth
Will give you an idea of exactly how flexible the PTO is lol
Usually I've asked the recruiter to set me on a couple calls with some engineers so that I can learn more about the company before settling on a decision
And they're usually more than happy to set it up
Though if you have friends/connections at the company, they'd probably give you a more honest/unfiltered view of things
200+ leetcode means nothing if you don’t understand the concepts.. just keep applying and keep leetcoding and make sure you understand what’s going on. You’ll get an offer
200+ problems, and im out here having done like 4 hahaheheheecrycry
What’s the application window for someone graduating December 21, looking for full time roles ?
do you guys know when unicorn companies new grad positions (databricks, stripe, coinbase) will reopen?
right now they're all closed
?
anyone got any tips for the debugging part of the amazon OA?
Its easy AF, no need to worry about it
ngl I panicked when I got stuck and only managed to 3 or 4 questions
its such a time crunch, v disappointed with myself
Well, no need to feel bad with yourself for amazon I guess.
I think all of the ones I solved was when there was only 2 mins left
no time to think, just go
I think OA1 is not that important. Pretty sure OA3 and OA2 are weighted more so don't give up just yet.
I got all of them in oa1 and both questions in oa2 with optimal solution and still got straight rejected, if that makes you feel better
I know some guys who didn't get full credit in OA1 and got interview
damn bro
there whole process is a blackbox
just gonna listen to some sad music rn, still bummed out from prev. interviews where I was SO close to getting it
It's a grind man. But you'll get an offer eventually. Keep it up man
if it makes you feel better im listening to sad music too
& had little to no interviews bc companies wanna keep me depressed
at the end of the day we're all gonna get jobs homie
damn bro wishing you luck man
I do get interviews (in canada rn) but doesnt matter if no job
it does matter bro
its a numbers game at this point
Man I feel like I'm finding no more applications
Jeez, honestly I think around 1000-2000, although I have an offer I am happy with, but it's in automation haha
Yeah the drought is hitting hard
Where do you usually look for job openings?
Does anyone know how much Disney pays?
Disney+Hotstar
but disney + hotstar would make it disney india. i think you will not get figures for that.
most of these companies in India just work by outsourcing the software work to consultancy firms and rarely have their own SW departments
What
Disney + Hotstar hires SWE
in that case only glassdoor can give you some info https://www.glassdoor.co.in/Salary/Hotstar-Salaries-E1465942.htm
lol at roblox asking me to help calibrate their online assessment after rescinding my offer
i've used refsy before, got roblox and vmware referrals
then vmware ghosted me after a perfect OA 🤡
so did roblox actually
Wait they rescinded?
ya got verbal in nov and then ghosted for 2 months and then told they’re no longer continuing with my candidacy lmao
I see
I had the same thing happen to me but for Google, ik how it feels
This is why I'm a firm believer that until you have something in writing, just assume it's empty promises
yeah but 2 months is ridiculous, i missed out on so many opportunities because of it
Oh yea I hear you man, it sucks and is super unprofessional of them
Wtf fuck roblox
damn... note to self: dont forget to ask for the offer in writing
Publicis Sapient will deny you if you’ve ever got a D/F on a course in college even if your gpa is above a 3.0. Also they pay 75k and no one has ever heard of them 😂
Like what are these companies thinking
welcome to consulting
So the sponsor of my capstone singled me out of my team and approached me in the dms with a quick:
“Do you have an interest in taking a job at [REDACTED]? If you do, we should speak further about it, I would be interested in you working with us.”
I think the irony is that you get hired by places like Goldman Sachs but PS takes all the money
Does anyone know if these kinds of offers generally skip interviews? Similar to offers following internships?
why don't you just ask
I don't think anyone will know
for your specific company or person or whatever
I just got the message about setting up a time to talk an hour ago and I probably won’t get an answer for a week or so. Just trying to feel it out.
Yea idt anyone here would know, depends how much influence your sponsor has and what kind of company it's for
Hey guys quick question, so I had a recruiter email me a link to sign up for a final interview after I passed the oa but after doing the survey for choosing time I didn’t receive any confirmation and it’s been 5 days already is this normal, should I keep waiting or is it better to just email them?
There should be an email to contact their careers team.
Send it a message and they’ll help you out
Yea just sent but maybe since it was the long weekend it maybe taking long since I filled out my time slot on Thursday
consulting and IB is scary
one of my friends called me crying since she was working close to 70 hours a week during her internship
she was writing emails at 3AM on a Saturday
tell her she has stockholm syndrome to her work
I do not have many instances from professional experience to answer behavioural questions @amazon. Is it OK if most of my responses are based on real-life scenarios and how I solved them?
wait only 70?
some guy here said he was working like 80 at deloitte
as swe consultant

Haha I'd quit
and then theres ib
where you can pull 90-100hr work weeks
investment banking
pays a hell lot more than swe in the long run
but u gotta survive for like 10 years lol
Projects related and as a store manager how I made business better with my solutions.
This advise sounds great.
Thanks ✌🏼
yeah survivorship bias
my school's really big on IB/consulting
and most people leave the industry after 2 years
got my Amazon application status changed to "moved to another job" and a new application showed up today
can I expect good news
After interview?
yeah I was put in a waitlist of some sort after onsite
True that is usually good sign
I heard this usually leads to an offer most of the time for internship positions
I wonder if it works the same for full-time positions
some said it doesn't on reddit so..
just waiting for tmrw :/
It does usually docs show up 24 hours later
praying rn!
Two questions:
When should fall 2021 grads start looking to apply for FT positions?
Is it bad practice to start applications while still interning?
July-September probs be lumped into 22 apps and start in February at lot of companies
does the google university grad process go through the team matching stage after onsite? I've accepted an offer that starts at the end of this month, not sure if it's going to be feasible to go through it
I haven't withdrawn tho and have prep call on friday
also what do they ask? Is it standard LC type questions mostly?
seems like some low level design too maybe
Curious about the same just got reached out to by a recruiter
Sounds like an average day at deloitte
My understanding is that for new grad you get matched to broader product areas rather than specific teams. And at least for intern team matching there was no LC, it was more about how knowledgeable you are in the team's domain. So like I got matched to a mobile/web dev team, and their interview was asking me about my experience with Android development. The questions were pretty specific, like what is the activity lifecycle or how do you manage state if the user rotates their device.
Idk exactly what product area matching interviews would be like, but I'd guess no LC.
Has anyone given the 30 mins final onsite round for Amazon new grad SDE role?
It's easy. You'll just be going through OA2 and explaining how you solved the questions. What were your OA results for 1 and 2?
You can only use this command in #2021_grad_process or #2021_intern_process
Do you mind sharing how long does it take to hear back after oa3?
Idk, it’s different for everyone. I haven’t gone through the process for new grad but for the internship it took around 2-3 weeks after OA3
oh thanks for sharing!
2-3 weeks seems a bit long for someone like me who didn’t get 100% on the oa2
Hundred percent on OA1 and 2 then reject 3-4 days after OA3
damn, hard luck my dude
What should I expect in a new grad behavioral interview? How do I prepare for it?
Also, how long is it okay to ask for time to prep for the behavioral round? Is 3 days okay?
This is the final round behavioral
I'd really appreciate some insight - this is my first behavioral haha
Guys, when can expect openings to pop up for New grad Dec 2021.
July/August
Cool, thanks!
They'll be 2022 roles that you're applying to
And they'll continue to open up through fall
I got 7/7 in the debugging round and 2/2 in oa2
when did you hear back after that?
hey guys, what are some companies that are still giving OA to new grads rn?
Not many if any
Damn I feel like a bum
I had an interview w a company of a friend of mines and they asked me to look over some react code and tell them what it does
Explained to them the general concept but man it’s annoying to see how others code, didnt get to explain it fully correctly
Feel like I bombed it
does amazon team matching happen after onsite or before
req listed multiple locations but i’m only interested in nyc
Probably after onsite
What kind of insight are you looking for
The very first round is a 1 hour phone round. All technical rounds, including for the onsite, are more or less the same. The interviewer might spend 5 minutes asking you questions about your resune, and then they dive into 2 LC mediums.
Yea the onsite has a round with a senior manager which seems to be either entirely behavioral or a mix of behavioral and object oriented or systems design
That round is an hour long as well
good luck!
it sounds more scary than it is
just be prepared and you will do fine
Anyone knows if WePay has like a buffer interview where it's okay if you don't do great?
Bombed 1 out of 4 rounds. What are my chances? I'm assuming 0
People who got return offers, at what month of the year did you find out and what is the time window to accept?
Does anybody has a list of companies hiring new grad?
I was asking the LC part was for the actual onsite interviews, not the team matching. Is that mostly LC style questions?
What is Amazon lab 126
They do outsourced work from Area 51
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Lab126 it appears to be the main RND division of Amazon which makes things like Kindle and Echo
Amazon Lab126 (sometimes known as Lab126) is an American research and development and computer hardware company owned by Amazon.com. It was founded in 2004 by Gregg Zehr, previously Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Palm, and is based in Sunnyvale, California. It is widely known for developing Amazon's Kindle line of e-readers and tablet...
I probably wouldn't know, only went through phone interviews + team matching for the internship
Tbf you asked if there would be team matching then asked what the interviews are like so 😛
Anyone recieve offers from Tower Research Capital ? If so, do they only hire from targets schools ?
I'm moving to Dulles, VA starting July 1st. If anybody else is too and want to share a place, let's connect. Feel free to DM.
fair my bad
Doing anything other than going to bed and sleeping after work can be difficult based on the kind of job you have. It's probably gonna be much easier now without having to waste 2 hours on commute anymore at least.
But yeah sure if you do it on the weekends for not too long it can be manageable
tfw you live in a basement with poor network reception and the recruiter emails you saying that you missed a call
bruh
this is fucking wack
shout out to workday interviewer today. I was dog tired from my work week and they were totally understanding about it.
and not mean or cross about me not rescheduling it.
workday sounds like a healthy company
Hey. I am having a query. Not sure if it is best place to ask.
I published a term paper in a group for my bachelors. Now my professor has published it. But the person who calculated values in the research paper is now claiming that the values are wrong.
Is there any problem i can have with my career?
Please give your best advices. I am new to this research thing
what kind of publication?
Is the workday app new grad?
Ty :)
Anyone interviewed for Zebra Technology?
Has anyone interviewed with Coinbase?
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends``` on spacex job page lmao
yo how important is the 'workstyle' assessment from OA2 amazon?
compared to the actual technical test, I did some reading on the leadership stuff but a lot of the statements are v vague
I am waiting on the phone screen
But I believe I have a fair idea of the process now
I applied 31st of March
What position?
good luck
thanks
Question - I am graduating this December and was planning to start applying for jobs once the fall semester has started. Is this a good plan? Not sure how far in advance I should start applying
earlier. Prob start in july and prep now since you'll be busy with school
I applied about a month ago. Completed OA then got contacted by a recruiter to set up a 1:1 with an engineer.
Most applications will be out around August/September
Okay thanks for the advice. I'm interning full time this summer, hopefully that will just lead to a job offer but I'm not necessarily counting on that
Okay cool thanks! One of my professors told us we should be applying for full time jobs our sophomore year lmao
Huh? That’s definitely not accurate lol
Yea what, why would you apply to FT jobs with 2 years of school left lol
Yeah this professor also told us that during his undergrad he coded 40 hours a week on top of hw
But I was always thinking yeah... not happening LOL
Professors be on that real grind huh
Yessir
prime
would you like to renew your thanks prime subscription?
anyone got their given name cut short on EAD?
One of my friends had the same issue.
Can I renew my techno subscription
you've already been signed up, and auto renewed
UwU
Does anyone know of a list of US companies still recruiting new grads for this year? Looks like most of the ones on https://github.com/pittcsc/NewGrad-2021 have been filled
Does fully remote position mean working from other countries as well?
i assume they prefer to keep you state side if it's a US based company due to taxes
Someone need to make one
Anyone know what to expect for amazon SDE OA3?
Read leadership principle and brainwash yourself imagining working as a current Amazon employee
Also google Amazon work simulation and be familiar of the process. Then you'll be fine.
- focus on meeting a deadline vs not giving up longterm benefit for shortterm benfit
bet, tnx for the info 😄
Did anyone get an email after Snap onsite regarding team allocation form?
Hi guys does anyone have an idea of FourSquare NY SDE (New Grad) offer?
Like what is the total compensation
Does anyone know good residential areas to live in Seattle (near to Amazon) ?
Belltown, SLU
Anyone already working at Walmart new grad?
Thanks alot ! Do you know any good 1bhk apartments ?
Is there a typical timeframe to hear back after oa3 from Amazon or does it vary?
I think it’s like up to 2 weeks
I just got 3 rejections from Microsoft for the same job within 15mins, they must really hate me LMAO
4 now*
god damn same here
I got one after telling the recruiter I have an exploding deadline
Did Uber open New Grad positions this year?
Same for me. Any updates on the decision?
Just got the verbal offer today
how many days after you filled the form you got the verbal offer?
Has anyone ever gotten a LC Hard during an onsite? I had ~45 minutes and they gave me Integer to English Words... I never studied LC Hards since I didn't think anyone would use them for onsites especially for new grad positions
This wasn't even a prestigious company/unicorn either.
Yep i got two, but they were easy hards
From a startup at palo alto
45 mins each
They were merge k sorted lists and trapping rain water
@quaint palm
Those two are also frequently asked, my advice is to study the most frequently asked hard questions
Damn alright
Got a hard from Limebike a couple years ago, also got a hard at the two sigma final, not a fan of those
Yeah, it's unfortunate lol. But at least it's somewhat expected for Two Sigma and prop shops/trading firms. Startups and non prestigious companies asking hards is so overkill imo
Why
Would they do that
I'm tight Lowkey for u
All these small companies tryna act bigger than they are
Lol most interview processes are pretty fucked, but the companies aren't going to change anything. I'd be surprised if they did, but it's more likely that it'll get even more rigorous in the future
Well, last year and this year I've been asked hard in multiple interviews
trapping water 1/2, word search 2, largest rectangle in histogram(if you even consider this to be hard), to name a few
also back in the days LRU was hard but now its medium lol
There's a lot of companies that dont ask LC still lol
You can try for those too if you want
Some startups are almost entirely ex-FAANG so for those it kinda makes sense. Otherwise yea makes no sense for the average startup that's probably gonna fail anyways.
But also it varies a lot. I interviewed at a startup and got asked pretty reasonable questions (an LC med and a system design problem iirc)
The startup i applied to, looked up most of their engineers most of them are like ex google, ex yahoo
The ones who asked me the hards specifically were ex google lol
good startups can afford to be super selective – consider a 200-500 person startup with a ton of hype and top talent (Ramp, Scale, Nuro) that only hires 25 new grads vs Google's 5000 new grads (idk exact, but somewhere in this magnitude)
Oops i replied to the wrong person
So if u do prep hards
Just prep the ones that are most frequent
Also if they do give u hard
How much time did they give y'all
Just allocated for the question
the same as any question lmao
45 mins
Na cuz some places only give u 30
well for me it was 45, it depends on the place
I have got amazon 30 min phone interview for AWS grad role
Anyone got this ?
Amazon recruiter hit me up for SDE2 and SDE3 roles lmfao wtf 😳
go for it
you're a big guy dude
Don't go for it if ur actually new grad you'll just get rejected
I had a recruiter hit me up for SDE1/2 and then was like lol sorry u just graduated? Not eligible
They won't be able to do anything they've got hard rules apparently
I would at least setup a phone call tho and if you have that conversation they can forward your resume
lmao same
but i m graduating in 2022 and looking for new grad 😦
so not replying back
Reply back
Just to let them know you're graduating 2022 but would love to be connected to a relevant recruiter
It can't hurt
Im gonna be at Microsoft so I’m not tripping to hit amazon back up
flex
mans gonna be writing windows 10 patches with stackoverflow
I have got. When is your interview?
The date is not yet scheduled
It's a grad role . I had the taken the assessment few months back . So they skipped the assessment
Not sure what they will ask. Any idea anyone ?
if its just a single 30min interview, I think you got the job
Its basically asking what question you did on OA2, how you did it
And then its time for you to ask them questions, and boom you got into amazon
Are there any Bloomberg new grad groups or group chats ? And similarly are there any NYC groups for new grads ?
Are there any oracle new grad groups?
Yes
yes
yes
Anyone has interviewed for Amazon SDE 1 role? not new grad
On thing I can say is, it can expedite the process, be it scheduling interviews, or giving result and other stuff
Anyone given Google onsite for University grad
Yep, it helped expedite the process
Yes this is the way to go, it helps expedite the process and shows you're desirable by other companies (i.e. leverage for negotiation)
Lol Goldman Sachs finally emailed me after not emailing me back to reschedule an interview after..3 months? 4?
been almost 2 weeks since oa3 submission, portal still says under review, is this normal?
Samies
Does Amazon ghost when they ask u for interviews date
seems that way, recruiter said theyll reach out to schedule onsite then never reached out lmao
i've been applying to every data scientist opening at walmart, never got a call back. any success with you guys?
should i start applying for jobs now if i graduate at the end of fall 2021 semester? or should i wait 1 or 2 more months?
@severe jay
you won't have many positions to apply for until july/august
Did u get asked the dates tho?
but definitely apply once they open
gotcha @ocean venture thank you!
no problem
Does anyone have a team match process with Twitch?
Anyone else who graduated this year still looking for a job?
Has anyone recently interviewed for 2021 Software Development Engineer - University (ID: 1547894) at Amazon?
yeeup
aws?
i know about the process if you're looking for that info
how has the search been for ya?
Yes
not fantastic, got close to one offer but didnt get it
Yeah it's been similar for me. We in this together fam
the new grad jobs that come out in the next recruiting cycle (july-august and beyond) are still applicable to us, right?
Yeah some should be
They'll have a requirement saying you're 12-months of graduation
Most should be, i think some companies do 6 months but they'll be more generous since covid I'm assuming
I hope they're more generous
A lot of people got screwed by the hiring freezes of last year
@ocean venture could you walk me through the process?
yes, me included 😣
nah not yet, applied to a few in the past few days after taking a few months break
yeah, I've just been grinding lc for the past month
I've found that to be my bottleneck if anything
After I took OA3 for AWS, I got this:
Technical Phone Screen (30 minutes): Assessment of your technical background and qualifications to excel in this role. Interview format - Verification of online assessment code and/or problem solving questions with Live code link.
Is this the mythical 30min final round that people talk about? It sounds like they will make me solve another problem after all?
Could you share an anon resume? I’ve been struggling to get hits for some reason
Yep sounds like the mythical 30 min call
I think they basically call you and you just go over your OA answers
And just answer stuff like why you chose to do X instead of Y or explain the time/space complexity of your solution
Got it thanks! Have we seen instances where they ask another LC question in addition? Seems like going over OA answers should not required the entire 30 minutes.
No clue
But I don't remember hearing about anyone getting another LC after the OAs
Except maybe in the 3x45 interviews
one for me too pls
What companies are you in the loop with?
let's grind together 🦾
I'd email the recruiter, and if they don't respond, I would just reapply.
@queen burrow when is your interview
Not scheduled yet
how long did it take for them to reach out after u completed OA3?
Took mine this weekend
Oh forsure took mine yesterday, just wanted to get an expected response time TY
Does Amazon have a rep for ghosting when they give u interview dates to choose from
Or nah
If it has happened to anyone on here
amazon interview process kind of disorganized
Ooo gotcha
Recruiter gave me dates to choose from I gave them and no confirmation email or anything
Did anyone who was waitlisted for Amazon SDE new grad 2021 receive an email asking for confirming their availability?
hi guys, is this legit ? I got email from amazon recruiter:
Hello XXX,
I found your resume in the portal for our XXX position in XXX, XXX or XXX.
Amazon Web Services is looking for experienced engineers to help us define and build the future of cloud storage. We are working on an exciting service in the storage and backup domain, to complement and enhance existing AWS EC2 offerings. This is for team which is going serverless. The position are for backend engineers and low level embedded engineers.
If you are interested in Amazon, share your resume if you are not engaged with any other recruiter at Amazon. I can share relevant job description or set up a call to understand more about your skill and our open positions. Please do not forget to mention location of your choice
Idk if it’s legit but it’s just a resume so why not?
How many days does it usually take for Amazon to get back after the final 30 mins interview?
Has anyone went through Employment Sponsorship Questionnaire with Walmart 2021 Campus: Software Engineer role? What do they ask?
Do twitch and amazon share a freeze period?
Probably legit considering AWS is doing hiring rn
the one that pops up after finishing the application
?
No. Received an email with a task that says Employment Sponsorship Questionnaire
Yes. There's a 2021 Campus role
its a part of the application. they ask you about your visa status and sponsorship
I am having hard time getting interviews and passing interviews. I am so stressed.
drop the resume my guy we can at least help ya with the first part
I can DM
post in resume advice channel!
just anonymize it first if you don’t wanna doxx yourself
anyone applied online to OPT and received the final response?
out of curiosity, what would happen if someone landed a new grad position but failed a class required to graduate? would the offer get revoked?
@wintry robin
U could ask em to extend ur grad date
Or don't tell em and finesse the class unless they ask for ur degree or transcript
Okay so.
Amazon New Grad role.
I got rejected on Feb 14th.
Got OA again for the new role on 7th June
And today got another email to schedule a virtual onsite (3x45)
What the fuck?
It goes without saying that I did not attempt the second OA
Even the link was broken
Is this legit?
idk perhaps contact the recruiter that reached out to you on linkedin for confirmation
If u passed an OA in the past 6 months
U don't have to take it again I think
@woeful dew
Cuz even if it's a different role I think u did pass an OA in the past 6 months
Right but they already rejected me in February
Maybe reaching out again since you were marked as a decent candidate?
They don't always cut off rejects AFAIK
I know but maybe cuz it's a different role
Did u get a completed
OA
In feb
Or u were resume rejected
Yeah I completed the OA
Amazon hiring is a fucking mess
🍌
if you get an offer, do you let other companies know of the deadline or do you just say you got an offer?
If you want to push the other companies then let them know the deadline
thanks
Why is Amazon hiring like crazy rn
Is it cuz of the new Arlington office
Or has that been open for a long time haha
Yeooo we ballinggg
That full campus not gonna be fully complete till 2025 they started leasing buildings there though
Got the official offer from Oracle for the cloud analyst consultant position ($75k + 10k sign on)
Have a one-on-one meeting Thursday with my capstone sponsor (senior manager of TS @ F5) who wants me to come work for him full time (120k + 10k sign on)
and I have several other conversations with recruiters going on right now.
But I am fuckin exhausted right now.
Do I take the shitty Oracle offer and jump ship the moment I get a better offer?
Do I reach out to the sponsor and let them know about oracles offer?
sounds like a prime opportunity forrrr
RENEGGG
take your offer from F5, reneg with oracle. delay if you need to for other recruiter opportunities
you can delay with oracle and also reneg by saying "hey, I've got an offer with F5 for 130k TC. I would love to work for Oracle as I'm so passionate about Java, but I've got a family to feed (lol?) and would be much more comfortable at a higher TC. Is there anyway we can renegotiate?"
I need a week/2 weeks to decide
as this is such an IMPORTANT life choice
no reason to rush
where's that oracle position based? why's the compensation so peanut
probably peanut because it's not strictly SE
^this
that's something to also consider
would you like to take a position that isn't strictly SE for less money? or work where your title will actually be SE and a higher comp
i'd personally have oracle off the table except to reneg and use that reneg to reneg f5 LOL
I would recommend against a position thats not swe for better future career growth
^ you get 1 year experience as SE and you'll have so many opportunities from that
can't say the same about a cloud support position
Where are you guys finding new grad postings? I feel like I tend to find most of them on LinkedIn but it's kinda dry rn
reneg the f5?
yep
why not?
it sounds like he really wants you
so you have a LOT of leverage
he has history with you and knows you're a good engineer based off your capstone
Idk why but I kept interpreting "reneg" as "renege" rather than renegotiate.
I mean... I know why but still
haha all g
has anyone taken the Epic Systems skills assessment test?
or coding assessment using codility for splunk?
I think Associate Member of Technical Staff
I got it right. It's entry-level https://www.levels.fyi/company/Salesforce/salaries/Software-Engineer/Associate-MTS/
gotcha thanks @void pond. I didn't know it was going to be that long. I'm prepping for it now. Hopefully it goes well.
vmware does this too but it just means software engineer afaik
I have a very special question. I failed my AWS interview in April and I passed my twitch interview in May. Now I want to team match with teams of Amazon, which is allowed by my twitch recruiter. Will the recruiter of Amazon reject me because of my previous AWS interview?
I doubt it
why do you want to team match w amazon instead of twitch? are you positive that’s what the recruiter was saying you could do?
won’t you have to reinterview?
My twitch recruiter can provide my interview feedback to amazon side.
ah
My twitch recruiter doesn't have any sde1 openings now
So he can't help me to team match with Twitch
that’s… weird, i’m interviewing for sde1 right now
at twitch
something seems a bit funky about that
Our recruiter may be different
: o
so weird hahh
i mean yeah most likely but if there are open positions across teams they don’t place you on another team? wtf lol
Is their anyone who has got an offer from AWS university sde role but has H1 transfer situation?
anyone done google university grad onsite?
What’s the cycle of new grad positions? Is it even worth applying in summer, should I wait for Aug?
Well, what is your argument for it to not be worth applying in the summer?
Because that seems like a loaded question
how long can i expect to wait for a google hc decision?
Like 1-3 weeks
anyone knows anything about blockthrough?
I think so, I guess they try to display ads in a user friendly manner instead of spamming users
anyone google team match in Seattle for new grad?
Update after reading the OA instructions: 2 questions in 30 mins
question: if I finish the AWS OA after an amazon recruiter has reached out to me and asks me to apply, would I need to do the oa again?
Has anyone given a phone screening interview for a front-end 1 role at Amazon? I have one coming up soon and would like to know your experience.
bruh what
2 mediums for me
First oa is relatively easy just not a lot of time
Haven't done my second but 2 mediums is what I hear commonly as well
if i graduated in dec 2020 but want to try again for jobs this new grad cycle, should I say my grad date was may 2021 or is that a bad idea cause my transcript says dec 2020
two mediums for me and for my friend as well
no just apply as a new grad with the dec 2020 grad date shouldn't be an issue
Cool thanks also if I’ve been working at a job rn should I still disclose it on my resume? I haven’t been cause I’ve only been there since March and thought I’d get a lot of questions about why I want to leave so quickly
is it a full time role?
Yuh
Most companies consider you a new grad if you graduated within one year
but it can vary
I'd include it if it's relevant. I switched to full time and include it bc it's specifically a position where it's not a big deal if i leave, but I'd still say leave it, worst comes to worst they ask u a q about it but i doubt it
Short term employment ranges are v common until you're about a year out
here to say 2 mediums for OA2 as well
I personally wouldn’t include it. The first few months are generally just on boarding and you haven’t really done much besides ramping up. Also, red flag in that you might seem flaky
probably also don’t want them reaching out to the company in the later stages of interviewing lol
in general i agree w doge
anyone got 30 min technical phone interview after OA3 for the aws ng role? its weird
Has anyone interviewed for Mindex software engineering position for paychex??
yeah thats what i was worried about mainly
Why is it weird?
lel
because other people do not have phone interview after OAs
all of them are 1 or 3 rounds VO
What is VO?
virtual onsite
amazon did virtual onsite?
I remember having to meet with an engineer for OA3, but not VO
Oh wait its like a tech 'phone' interview? Sorry I misinterpreted, that's usually a step for SDE-1 though
you either get a single 45 min meme round or 3 full rounds after OA3 depending on how u did
30 min phone screen is kinda weird
My friend has a call with a recruiter next week for new grad too though so Idk what they are doing
If it's a single 30 mins call, you got the job already
damn get that bread boi
I applied for that role with my .edu email. The status says under consideration. I'm scared that my edu ID might not receive those assessment emails 😐
amazing
check ur spam inbox
a lot of people's edu emails send it there
Nothing yet
this is true it just happened to my friend
as long as you don’t bomb it *
imagine getting the meme round
Did anyone recently got verily interview?
Why can I get the meme round
The hell
How does a jump from a meme round to a 3x45 make sense
Lmfao
Out of interest how did you do on the OAs?
i got all the test cases pass in OA1 and OA2
sheesh
damn i got 6/7 and couldn't test my last one LOL
not sure if i'll be able to cop that 30 min
Yo so I have an interview tomorrow and this is the posting link they gave me. I'm a new grad????
its also 1.5 hours long
Bruh
idk what to expect to be honest
I think you should let them know they sent you the wrong posting link ngl
The position they linked you seems like it's for a seasoned dev not a new grad
also before they sent me this invite I got rejection email
too late its 9pm there already and the interview is early tomorrow morning kek
damn
must be a different recruiter really looking to fill the position
good luck lmao
I got an offer for junior software developer, super excited but I am interested in negotiating the terms of the offer. Was wondering if anyone had a link to a guide or tips
For example is it common to be able to negotiate up base salary? or is it more common to find adjustments in other parts of the renumeration
Feel free to ping with answers
^ that's a very good resource
I am just curious, what are some of the most sought after new grad jobs?
yeah
probably the places you’d expect that are apps you have on the home screen of your phone lol
fb google apple msft snap twitter reddit linkedin etc etc
fb/google/apple/msft I get but idk if most ppl are going after reddit and the likes yknow?
i mean i guess it comes down to your preference
but more so what ppl universally agree are the best places to work (compensation/culture/etc all considered)
If we're talking about universally popular companies, your standard FAANG companies probably fit the bill
But there are companies that are tougher to get into for various reasons, like hot startups or quant firms
Risky
To reschedule a on-site for a big company
Or@nah
If I want like an extra week
When's it scheduled for rn
I don't think they'd care unless you cancelled a day before without an extremely good reason
mine is scheduled
on the 16th
kinda want till the 23rd
or 24th
Amazon
i kinda wanna be like if possible can i reschedule for next week but if not the current date is totally fine
I think that's fine
Like worst case they just tell you no lol
Amazon is a big faceless company, I doubt they'd care
They probably interview hundreds of people everyday
Damn
goddam
400
while stuff man
idk i feel giving interviews would be fun
compared to the regular job
Hmm it eats into your time to deliver on projects
Ik my teammates have been pulled aside to do interviews at the worst times lol, but in general they do seem to enjoy it
The downside is that apparently they're never told if the people they interview make it through or not
Which is lowkey sad
damn
Yea fr
wtf did i type lmao
but damn that's kinda sad
though at some companies, youll be interviewed by your future team mates
like the three people that interviewed me at glassdoor are now my managers lol
Well, you don't know until you really hear back
I have a web developer questionnaire to complete. One of the questions ask "Please list out the layers of a modern web application, and if you have worked in any of them." I am trying to figure out what are the layers and its tech?
After doing some research, I found out that there are 3 layers: presentation (UI), business (Backends), and persistence (Databases/DMS). Please clarify if these are correct and maybe an insight into how can I answer this better?
That's correct, you want to indicate what makes up the UI (DOM, CSS, etc), how the backend connects with the UI (requests, POST, GET) and how you manipulate data from a database for display on the front end
How would you answer questions like "Have you used any API/Back End frameworks? If yes, please describe your experience with them."
I was thinking of stating specific examples on how I used the frameworks. But, I remembered another strategy of using the C-A-R (Challenge Action Result) statement. So, what would be the best way to answer this question?
If you have any projects that you've done backend work for, use that
The project challenge is why it needed to exist in the first place
Action could be why you chose the technology stack you did
And result could be what void it filled/what you accomplished
But i don't think car strictly relates to that exact question
More for behavioral questions
@ocean venture I like how you restructure the car statement so that it fits the question. I think it's a really good way to go with it.
Lmao dam I was about send the email to ask to reschedule then I remembered my internships starts on June 21st
Bruh how am I gonna intevriew if I'm working 12 to 8
I'm kinda screwed Lowkey
Interview from 9 to 12 ez
But also since you’ll be interviewing during your first week of the internship, you’ll have time
On boarding takes time
so I've been reading this piece on negotiating offers and it seems a big part of it is having multiple offers. I'll be straight here, atm I don't have multiple offers on the table. Though I'd be happy (believe it or not) to keep interviewing and searching, what's the downside to just bluffing advantageously?
i.e saying you're considering offers from multiple places even though in reality you're not
downsides aside from the obvious dubious moral implications
Sometimes they might call you on your bluff by asking for an offer letter
I think you can pretty easily get away or dodge it on the grounds of being an unreasonable request
or maybe even tell them you got verbal offer
explain away by saying "the letter itself contains confidential info that I can't share"
lots of outs
feels like in the end the only real call to your bluff is "we don't care (i.e don't believe you), we're not moving"
worst they can say is no.
my personal rule for negotiating as a new grad is that you ask once and ask nicely
There's no real downside
Of course, if they do call your bluff, you'll probably get blacklisted
for negotiation specifically, some companies (like google) will ask for written proof
but like 95% of the time they won't question you, it just sucks the 5% of the time they do cause then you'll have to be careful with what you say
if you can navigate that then more power to you, negotiation is a skillset in itself
@slate juniper That said, I'll note that leverage can come in many forms, multiple offers being the strongest of them. If you can find other, legitimate reasons to negotiate, those can still get you pretty far. Eg. If you take care of family members, and taking the new job will be a huge disruption in your and their lives, then you can ask to be compensated (literally or figuratively) for that.
You have to start the bluff from the moment they ask you “what companies are you currently working with”
Starting the bluff this late in the game is going to be very risky, because the recruiter’s probably already asked you who you’re working with and if you said “no one at the moment teehee”
Then 2 weeks later you get your offer from company A, and then tell them that you’ve got a competing offer from company B worth 20k more
Very sus
Just something to keep in mind
And make sure if you are going to bluff that the salary range is in line with what it says on levels.fyi
Not like 350k starting for a night janitor at Google
But again ymmv, and for legal reasons
this is not career advice. For entertainment purposes only
Just lie and if they ask for proof forge a document
Bet
I just did the 30 minute phone interview after OA3 with a manager for the aws uni role. He said that I should expect an onsite round. Do yall think he's mistaken or is this a thing now?
edit: That was the final round as expected
What you all think about doing ms in Canada?
i like how you messaged and then got the email offer letter before anyone could even reply
Def aware of this
Has anyone been asked bit manipulation questions recently in an interview?
yeah agreed, though I'm wary of putting too many little reasons and excuses on the table, oh covid, oh family mortgage, oh I give to charity, oh I'm looking to buy a house
shouldn't be, it's been a month since I've spoken at all so even if this is the case then very reasonable for that situation to have changed, even drastically, since then
also really? sure looks like advice pertaining to one's career to me... and it better be because I mean that's what I'm here for? lol
Has any interviewed with Verily for Technical Solutions Engineer position ?
embarrassing interview
dont think I'm getting this
this feeling blows
it’s a legal thing i think at least i know it is when it pertains to finances
even worse lol, good luck trying to pass that off as non-advice
Does anyone know whether a company can see if you’ve submitted I-9s for other companies
I don't believe they can?
Even though it’s a govt doc?
I’m kinda in a predicament 😭
Like let’s say I signed with company A
Then another company runs a background check on me
Will they see that I’ve submitted the I-9 for company A
It's a govt doc but i don't think it's necessarily public info, it's supposedly private to your place of employment
But i don't think they would know through just a background check?
did you already submit your documents (passport, etc.) for I-9?
Ah shit i didn’t know that
I’m always rushing to find my passport on day 3 of employment
Yeah you can submit it up to 90 days prior to starting 🤔
Just go with the other company tbh
Nobody cares
They’ll find another warm body to fill your seat
Im just afraid the second company will run a background check and see I already signed with the first company 🤦♂️😂
Nah it doesn’t count til the company sends your name to the credit bureaus
And til your start date
HR will say you’re not employed
Because you’re not
Okay that sounds good
Is there any way that I could probably look more into it
Like who do I call 🤣
You can run a background check on yourself
They’re like 50 bucks
I did that before I started working FT because I had a pretty lengthy background investigation
Oh shit that’s not a bad idea haha
Has anyone ever heard of a startup called Current?
another shite interview today
bomb two interviews twice in a row in one day
incredible
Anyone willing to review my open ended web developer questionnaire? Please let me know.
sure
Thank you @ocean venture . Will send it to you soon.
Hey guys,
I am pursuing my Masters, graduating this december. I have a small query. I have previous work experience of more than 5 years in my country. Should I apply for mid senior level jobs? Or stick to new grad?
Do they consider outside USA experience?
lmfao u get an offer bro?!
I think you can try for the mid senior jobs. Experience is experience
@ocean venture
Trust me if I did
U would know
Ima process the hell outa that shit
Thank u bleepbloop
U one of the reals on here
Is anyone here gonna be working at Microsoft ?
If so, can anyone explain how the lump sum relocation works? It says they’d give you a bank card with the funds on it. Does this mean I essentially have a gift card of money? What happens if I have some of the relocation money leftover, can I withdraw it for cash / buy other things with it?
Have you started applying ?
What is the cool down period like in amazon?
has anyone here interviewed with Credit Karma for new grad?
Has anyone done 1 hour technical phone round with square for new grad?
When do u graduate?
I graduated this spring....
Hi. I have an offer from Adobe, and one from a young (2.5 years old) company.
The latter is in private equity funding round (not series a, b, or c), and has a funding of 600M. The latter is also offering more.
Where should I go? Adobe or the other company? My goal is to eventually go for an MBA within two years.
Depends on location, job position, etc
Adobe is more name recognition but would you be earning more after tax at the startup, would they pay for your MBA
is it series D or E? if it is an earlier funding round you can get in before potential ipo and retire
gamer move for sure
Its neither. Its in Private Equity round. But they have good funding.
Not sure.
What industry? @rancid pawn
Fintech. Its Navi Technologies. https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/bac-acquisition
Are the roles the same at Adobe and this place? Like if you take Navi will you dislike the role more than Adobe?
Not sure. Tbh😂. I am interested in momey and security
Those are not negotiating up
Seems as though you have to decide between the higher risk / higher potential reward vs lower pay but better job security
Its like.
Adobe:
12.5 (Base) + 1 (Gratuity) + 10 (Stonks, 4 years) + 2 (Joining Bonus) + 3 (Retention Bonus)
Navi:
18 (Base) + 2 (ESOPs)
if your goal is an MBA in 2 years, i think adobe makes more sense
you prob want more financial security and stable work experience pre-MBA
Yeah I think so too.
It doesn't make much sense to go to an early stage startup if you plan on leaving in 2 years since you're taking on the startup risk without the massive potential upside
Yeah. Does brand name help in MBA?
if it were a late stage startup then maybe but def not a pre series A startup
They have good funding though. The owned himself has pumped 400 millions
But its definitely pre series a
personally think this should be your biggest consideration
why take on risk if you wont realize long term massive upside
unless you like the work significantly more ig
I don't know what the hell cloud teams at companies do but i wanna work at something cool like this😂😂
do they ask about aws knowledge during their onsites for new grads?
1x30 or 3x45? they probably for sure don't in the 1x30, maybe in 3x45?
3 x 45
true cus im a strictly gcp man lmao
just to make sure, when you apply for a job there is no such thing as campus interviews right? that is only prevalent for internships right?
Anyone applying to CharterUp ? How's the coding assessment?
Does Amazon have a very strict cooling period?
6 month cooling period
Is this a policy requirement, or it depends on the specific hm and hr?
i think the latter based on my experience
not super strict
hey guys, I got an offer from a company but I am currently 1 month into my 3 month internship, should I drop my internship to accept the offer?
yeah full time
its like double the pay of my current internship, but i feel like its just a shitty move to ditch my internship 1 month in lol
Yeah I'd go for FT too
Also would go ft, consider the 3 month difference of internship experience vs professional and how it could help future job hunts
I recommend just extending your start day by a month
i mean by 2 months
And only if you prefer the full time company over the internship company. You could recieve a ft offer afterwards
Anybody got an offer from Amazon/AWS SDE university role and is graduating in August/September this year?
I got a call from google recruiter following my onsite saying that she got the feedback and has sent it for review to the HC and it's a "good sign"
personally was expecting a clear reject, but does this even mean anything?
until the HC makes a decision
I did get a very strong referral from someone who works there so that's the only thing that's making me consider this
if they said it's a good sign the interview feedback was probably good and she thinks it's likely you'll get an offer or she probably wouldn't have said that
but i'm just extrapolating
it means nothing until HC makes a decision ultimately though
so i still wouldn't get hopes up just in case lol
It would honestly be a big inconvenience if i did get the offer lmfao
My new job starts in two weeks and I've booked the airbnb already for a month
oof
And I would be put into an ethical dilemma of whether to renege so late
!process footlocker reject
You can only use this command in #2021_grad_process or #2021_intern_process
depends on how the offer stacks up to your current offer i guess
honestly wouldn't be concerned about any ethical dilemmas
hot take but companies don't give a fuck about you so don't give a fuck about them
unless it's a place you absolutely would not wanna burn bridges to at all costs
yeah I know but I guess we should be better than them at some level. Actually my friend referred me to my current company, so it might affect his reputation possibly.
nah i don't agree. us being better than them won't stop them from scalping you for all you're worth and doing shitty unethical things
if you aren't playing their ballgame then you're doing yourself a disservice tbh
but the latter half of that i can see being a concern
i'm worried about the same thing rn lol
counterpoint for the sake of argument - integrity, and having the ability to look back and see that you never fucked someone over, pays off much better rewards in the long run. Moreoever, when you're a good person and help rather than fuck over others, the people within the companies will work to rally behind you and protect you against the amoral corporate institutions that would discard you without a second thought.
sure, i see what you’re saying — for sake of argument, i think loyalty to yourself and doing what’s best for yourself comes before loyalty to any company or anyone external to you
i think you can still be totally respectful about it and just be like i’m sorry i decided to go a different path for my career and do it in a way that isn’t fucking someone over
in practice your latter point does not occur at larger companies @ inner
@slim lake could I pm you about your onsite prep?
plenty of moral and just people have been fucked over
yeah, i don’t think any company is necessarily moral or ethical, they look out for themselves first and foremost, and will fuck you over intentionally or unintentionally if it benefits them
you taking the higher ground won’t prevent or mitigate this in any way
on an interpersonal level of course don’t be an asshole and don’t seek to screw people over but a corporation that exists under capitalism is inherently not an ethical creature so assuming they will act morally and justly is a misstep
conan o'brien is a great example of someone who got fucked over but won in the long run
but yeah it's a balance. no moral purity necessary, depends on the situation
I just would never fuck over my friend who got me the job in the first place.
right i mean don’t be a total asshole just articulate that something came up and you can no longer take the role and they’ll find someone else. don’t think that even means fucking over your friend — things come up all the time in life that could interfere w your employment at a company that aren’t even career related issues
so if you wanted to protect your friend just lie and say you couldn’t relocate to the intended city after all or family issues or whatever
most people will be understanding and you won’t be burning bridges that way
of course it might put the company in a hard spot for a few weeks but they’ll weather it and if it’s much better for you financially or career growth wise then both parties are better off for you reneging
yeah I guess that makes sense. I will obviously strongly consider it if it actually happens because it is fucking GOOGLE lol.
idk i guess just try and dissociate the concept of integrity from it, in my honest opinion it does both parties a disservice bc employment is a business transaction and it should be favorable for both parties and if it suddenly becomes unfavorable for one party then 🤷🏻♀️
and yeah ofc google
Does anyone know if Twitch is still recruiting for their SWE I roles?
anecdotally i'm still in the recruiting pipeline but the posting i applied for has been taken down so idk
Did you do the Codility?
yes
did you hear back after?
yes i have a phone upcoming
oh wow nice! how long did it take for them to get back to you?
a day or two i think
I just submitted mine yesterday, but I saw it in my spam folder an it had been over a month since I got it, hope they'll still consider me
ah geez that's a real struggle
when did you apply btw?
last month sometime lol can’t remember exactly when
no, have my phone thurs
did you pass the phone? how was final?
Final next week for me
Amazon this week
Hoping to get one or the other
Actually I'm def hoping to get twitch if I'm being honest
good luck man!!! you got this!!

both just go destroy them and spit in their face and get a nice high paying job with them 😤
bet
I gave the OA last week too, waiting
Dose anyone know if companies are still hiring for 2021 grads ?
Yeah I think they still are
@worthy spear Thanks for that
What would be good places to look for these jobs other than linkedIn ?
Anyone has a reading or article to learn about take home job assessments?
Amazon onsite is 3 technical or 2 technical + 1 behavioral?
Fall 2021 grad apps usually come out July/august right
each is like 10-15 min behavioral and 30 min technical
is it coding first or behavioral first?
depends on interviewer, for me 1 of them was technical then behavioral, the other 2 were reversed
any recruiters here? need some help on proportional sizing for base salary:signing bonus
would 75k base, 10k bonus, and 80k base, no bonus be "equivalent"? I know giving signing bonus is easier than bumping base salary but I'm just not sure by how much
feel free to ping
Also curious about that 🤔
Yeah I think an AWS recruiter recently joined the server lol
Rly? Lol
Yeah lol
Is this a new app?
Just saw it
opened in canada as well
1 year internship ?
Did anyone got amazon 30 mins interview by directly applying to a university sde role, Without giving any assessments?
I think everyone goes through the OA process
woahh this is new
Nope, I didn’t but some my friends got them
Damn
I personally haven't heard of it but I'm not too surprised about it going directly to 30 minute interview
if they do ok in that interview, they're basically guaranteed offer
Yeah
dang its been more than a week i dont think im getting that amazon final

Is this for people graduated this year or who will be graduating next summer?
I apologize, it's not for new grads unfortunately, it says they want sometime with 1-3 years of experience
Bro, I am not even getting an OA for that position...it's been over a month.....
...
nah It's 1 year full time
faang are pretty strict about experience reqs
I have 2.5 yrs internship exp and haven't gotten a callback for 1+ yr exp jobs
unless they specify internship exp ok in the posting
its been 10 days since I gave OA
Yeah you should be able to apy to multiple positions
Just got Twitch phone screen lmao
let's gooooo
ayyyy let’s do this!
did u apply if so did ur application go through or did u get error 500
Guys, I learnt react and rest api. Now I'm learning kafka.
What are the topics that I need to focus for backend developer
if you already learned react, then node may be easier for you
Thank you!! I hope we all get OAs
Has anyone interviewed with Lucid?
It's very rare you're gonna get rescinded from negotiating
Worst case is the company will just refuse to go higher
anyone know if there's a similar one for interns?
