Is Amazon still considering SDE 1 new grad 21 positions is it still sending assessments?
do you know if the link is sitll up
I don't believe it is, let me check
I think amazon is basically always considering new grads they hiring hella
According to a friend of mine who's working there rn
Because application went under consideration so was wonder will get an assesment or not
ok ty
yeah I can't seem to find it
anyone got any resources for offer negotiation?
i remember reading some good content about salary negotiation in cracking the coding interview
Google is no longer hiring new grad they took it down
did you get an OA from them ?
would be so random and ditzy and rawr xD if we all got job offers rn
For people who got into Microsoft, did you cold email your recruiter or just applied online and prayed?
Applied
And I didn’t get in but I got a final in two weeks
But I heard some people
It took em 6 weeks
To hear back
6 months
Two weeks
@fiery otter thanks! do you have a redacted resume that I could reference?
By any chance
Dang
I really want to get into Microsoft but their screening is so inconsistent
I’m literally in the process of changing my resume
Thanks though!
Hey guys, I have a question. So I applied to the AMZN New grad position back in August and did not pass the OA assessment in September. I emailed them and they said I can apply again in 6 months. 6 months pass and I email them again to make sure. They said that new grad recruiting is basically finished for this year and they recommended me to apply again in July when the next new grad cycle opens (even though I'm graduating).
My question is though I want to apply to the regular SDE 1 positions now (I know a few people that have gotten in that way before they graduated). I go on the jobs page and I see so many positions available for SDE 1 (Appstore, Advertising, etc) and am not sure which one to pick. Also, should I refrain from applying to more than 1 position? Thank you.
I was thinking of applying to what most closely corresponds with me previous internship experience but I'm not sure if that really matters too much
Alright, thank you very much man.
Hi Guys. I am a person with 2 years exp. I am seeing that I am getting way more calls from Entry-level SDE roles than the new-grad ones. I think the New-grad role gives more importance to other factors than your resume IMO.
So if you have some experience (1-3 yrs exp), start applying for entry-level SDE roles.
just got a couple behavioural qs like how do u manage multiple projects, somethin like that where theres no right answer, and then 1 leetcode medium, it was chill
Dam that’s tough one
Under prob means
They received ur app
In consideration prob means
U in consideration compared to other candidates
Or they could mean the exact same thing

by experience do you mean 1-2 internships?
Anyone got oa for wepay?
i took the internship OA awhile ago, so if theyre anything similar, its an easy and hard
i'm going to go with no
since this question gets asked like every day
and the answer has historically been:
no
not sure
sample size n=5
not financial advice
Hey yall i’m currently senior in middle school looking for 2029 new grad roles, are there any open preferably for a startup that hasn’t been founded yet but will IPO that year
switch to history while you still have time .. the startups will only be able to pay you 500k max
nope all possible startups for the next few centuries are already filled by senior level elementary schoolers coding 247 unpaid surviving on 2 litres redbull and monster daily
I have come back to this image to demand more pics of this dog
hey guys, should i defer my graduation to 2122?
you really wanna wait 101 years more?😳
thinking if climate change sinks enough of california into the ocean it’ll be easier to get a faang job
fair point
no the early ones open in june/july while big tech opens in aug/sept
just learned that you get taxed for RSU's at salary rate even if you don't sell
pain
hold up, you telling me if that w/e RSU vests, you're paying taxes on it immediately? What happens when you sell? You get double-taxed?
do normal capital gain tax rules apply to RSUs on sell and then you're paying income tax on the RSUs that vest right away lmao

@karmic jolt yes

lmaaao wow, that's terrible
sounds about right
no such thing as a free lunch
That’s why all my pay is base salary 🥴
hypothetically what would happen if the stock dropped to 0?
you would just have to pay taxes on money you dont have?
if it goes to 0 you can claim up to $3000 in capital loss(net) per year
anyone know what kind of topics i should keep in mind for questions when i'm interviewing with the team i'd join?
besides tech stack and workflow questions idk what else to ask

maybe wlb questions like on call, code review / development process, what about the company/team has kept them at that company/team?
Can someone give me a priority order for Boston, Dallas, Seattle? assuming I like a city life and good weather (ideally)
Seattle, boston, dallas
thanks! the rain in seattle is the one thing that puts me off lol
I like Boston > Seattle > dallas
not too cold, snow maybe couple times a year at most, rainy/overcast
Very milks mild and doesn't get very cold. Climate wise pnw is hard to beat
why do you like Boston better
I think comparing boston and seattle is more about taste at this point
i like milk
I’ve just had good experiences there haha
looked it up both seem to have a lot of upsides and downsides lol. Boston might be what I'm looking for rn. I'm in Boulder rn so I've experienced all the outdoorsy stuff and outdoorsy people lol
Anyway not that I got the job yet. They asked me my preference and I got really confused lol
anyone done the Goldman Sachs superday?
Yuh
@slow breach Have u done it already?
Damn I had to wait 3 weeks too. Sent my recruiter 3 follow up emails lol
Hopefully they’ll be able to it’d be pretty wack if they couldn’t
I have mine next Wednesday 🥶
Thank you 🙏 yes for dallas
Gl
Got resume rejected from Microsoft
If you have just one class left to do (in fall semester), do companies typically let you finish that up while starting work?
like, work while doing a class? i.e. before you get your degree
Yeah
Same :(
Yeah quite unfortunate, didn't think my resume was that bad
I thought it was easier to at least get interviews for FT roles
for 2021 New Grad role?
Yeah!
niceee, gl
forgot to reply but these topics helped me come up with some questions for my interview today, thanks
Thank you!
yeah np, glad it helped!!
My response rate been drier than my dms this week
where to find roomates for housing. tried fb groups but would like to find a couple of people to get a house with in MTV
craigslist?
Try Facebook housing groups for universities nearby
why not both? I've heard EPI is a bit harder than CTCI, so it might be good to get the foundations down with CTCI then move on to CTCI
if you have two weeks do neither then
do Blind 75 and company tagged questions on Leetcode
sorry don't have more specifics on Akuna's interview process but maybe EPI then otherwise
yeah more or less most if not all the questions I've been asked have been one of the 75 or variations on them
good luck!
Anyone apply to ADP?
Does anyone have a good template for cold emailing your recruiter?
(to express interest in interviewing for ___)
can you link it by any chance?
Super useful tbh. I got asked qs from here or variations for pretty much all my technical interviews

Any update on Better.com new grad onsite results?
They sent out rejections like a week or two ago
@ancient hill have you not had an update yet?
Not yet
oh word
yea a bunch of people (myself included) got rejected about a week ago
when did you have your interview? They said they'd let all new grads know at once
March 26th
oh shit LOL that's basically when I had mine. you might want to email them
Cool

Does anyone have any idea about Barclays' competency based interview?

ive never done an interview for a frontend position before. can someone share any advice on what its like?
I applied for a backend position and was given a front-end task for one of my interviews lol.
He had TypeScript(?) class set up and wanted me to set up an infinite scrolling webpage fwiw
hlo
@elder maple i'd never touched typescript in my life
so i implemented everything in pseudocode
typescript wasnt even on my resume lol
lol
safe to say i failed that final interview
@slim inlet the difference between real DOM and virtual DOM. Probably some CSS/SASS. Understand react components and the component lifecycle. Know advantages and differences of Typescript. Just some examples
tbh i don't even remember the component lifecycle names, im too used to hooks
Does twitch give Amazon stocks?
yeah
Is that negotiated or just standard
that's just standard
at least for my offer
Dammmm
210 TC?
@elder maple yeah, but for some reason I always get asked about them 🤷🏽♂️
is it a bad idea to apply for fall internships even though i’m graduating this spring? starting to lose hope :/
@slim inlet apply to everything and anything. Better to have it and say no than not have it and be desperate
@worthy spear SWE and PM, haven’t gotten a rejection yet, applied a week ago
yep
PM was for Google Cloud (no exp. requirement) and SWE was a generic application that had 2yr required exp.
has anyone interviewed with sunshine or bridgewater associates ?
link to the pm position? i dont see it anywhere
You can only use this command in #2021_grad_process or #2021_intern_process
The guy I asked only negotiated once
@placid marlin https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/123457298853962438/
out of curiosity which offices does google usually hire new grads for? cuz i’m curious if they hire for seattle office
Anyone been hit up about Oracle Class of Cloud engineer position? Just had a recruiter reach out
How do you get recruiters reaching out to you 😩
black magic?
Here’s my process, maybe you can emulate:
Wake up, check email, 4 new “Thank you for your interest in {companyName}. After careful consideration we have decided not to move forward with your application”, cry, spam resume everywhere, cry, sleep
Too real
this typa hurt 😔
Anyone interested in working at SpaceX? Got one more spot on my team! DM me for more details (US citizens only, full-time only) https://boards.greenhouse.io/spacex/jobs/5162113002?gh_jid=5162113002
Definitely more than 40, depends on what we have going on from week to week.
Hi everyone, what do you all think about being a Software dev at tier 2/3 Trading company vs Software dev at tier 1/2 Tech company?
Any insight would be super good, thanks 🙂
If I got into a tier3 trading company as a software dev, would it be worth going into the company? over a tier 2 tech company?
tiers 💀
who cares lol
ur thoughts arent gonna be ur company tier when ur writing code
dont hyper-fixate on prestiege it does not make u a good engineer lol
Yeah that's very true
Just wanted to put that out there because it might matter when moving to a different company after
if you’re rly choosing b/w a solid tech company + a solid trading firm just go w whichever you feel will challenge you as an engineer or whoever’s culture seems like a better fit
not so much for full time roles
i look at a lot of the resumes of people we're interviewing at uber
and i can confirm it does not matter as much as u think it does
(the "tier" of company)
they were prev at
Thanks for the insights.
I know that I'll like the work that I'll be doing at the tech company but I want to try the trading company to see if I'll like it as well. Just worried that I might be "wasting" time if I end up not liking the trading company and having to move into a tech company after a year since I could've used that time to build my perf for the tech comp.
I'll probably have to think a bit more about which one to choose.
i think what u do in this job matters more than what the status of the job is when ur trying to look for another job
trading isnt a special case with this
so if u can work in the similar tech stack that a trading company has then go for that one
I heard that the dev work at trading companies will be focusing on the efficiency, speed, etc.. (something irrelevant to full stack development).
So I think the things I might work on in the trading company might not be helpful when I switch over to a tech company where I'll probably end up in a full stack dev team (which is what I like).
But I guess since it'll be my first job out of college, it shouldn't matter too much whether I take a small detour
Anyone hear back about Zoom new grad?
How is efficiency irrelevant in full stack development? Like sure you won't have to work close to the metal, but the general ideas of building efficient systems imo should be transferable knowledge.
I mean yes efficiency matters, but companies don't use C++ to optimise the back-end for full stack development like trading companies do for their infra. I meant that trading companies focus on optimising the code itself in addition to the algorithms.
Sure, but I think you're splitting hairs
Any good engineering org should hire engineers based on their general problem solving skills
As long as you don't dig your head into a hole and stop paying attention to the tech world, more likely than not you'll be fine
@main verge you can always change companies if you don't want to stick around at the trading company
I'm not advocating for one company or the other, just echoing what Joey said because I feel the same way
Yeah I think I'm thinking that way too, thanks for your input 🙂
Yeah i had my first phone interview last week and am scheduling my final two this week
How long did it take for them to reach out to you after your application
I think about a week or two?
Jk i apparently applied on the 26th of feb
Heard back on the 6th of this month
I think i applied right when they opened though
Good luck!
Jesus yeah I just applied like two weeks ago
anyone here interview with twitter? wondering what i should expect for round one 60 minute interview
LC Med
Twitter focuses a lot on OOP principles and make sure to ask clarifying questions. They appreciate that
@quick lodge Okay cool thanks a lot. Did you make it to the final round interviews as well? Wondering if those are the same as the phone screen
yeah made it to the final round, final rounds were LC Med-Hard and LC Hard
As in LC med, i have not studied system design
which team?
yeah i don't think they ask system design, check with your recruiter once
ah okay
ok will do, gotta pass phone screen first though
gl!
yeah my final round had an obscure DP problem
nope i ended up giving a greedy solution which turned out to be completely wrong lmao
nah lol
haha dw you got this! you'll do well!
Thank you!
Hey, I just got started the interview with Goldman Sachs for a software engineering position. Any suggestions what I could expect on the interviews and what can I focus on more?
guys, Microsoft vs Amazon. Which would you take if they both give you equal offers and those were the only offers you have
I'd personally take Microsoft
it can depend on the product you want to work on but generally, microsoft
microsoft. amazon's rep is just trash rn with all this pip stuff goin around
I'm out of the loop, has Amazon been firing a lot of people lately?
What are your goals/aspirations? What kind of work interests you? Do you know what team you might be on at each place? What's your risk appetite?
Without more context, the question is as good as asking "should I eat an apple or an orange?"
If you care about job security then Microsoft is probably the way to go
idk but ive seen thread after thread on blind of people being on a PIP shortly after joining
Gotcha. I don't go on blind, thanks for filling me in lol.
np, that's what the thread linked if you're curious http://outline.com/N7HVNM
ooo spicy
Along with tier. Check what work you will be doing in each company.
what I was particularly interested in was whether how Microsoft as a company will be down the line long term compared to Amazon. Amazon holds the market in both Retail and cloud for now. Microsoft only in OS and are behind in cloud and other orgs.
Specifically I will be joining the Bing team in Msft while idk the team yet in Amazon.
at this point in your career, level don't matter. your work and what you learn will def be more important. as long as salary is comparable, think about what you would enjoy doing more. what's the wlb at each company, could you see yourself doing this for 2-3 years?
ik it's hard because we've been programmed to care about it (college we went to, cars, clothes etc.) but prestige really doesn't matter. life is more than what people think about you. if you're happy working at a company and get paid a good amount and do good work you can move wherever you want later in your career.
Their hiring standard is pretty random. Because some people who don't even have any programming expereience get through the interview. They will be the ones who will be PIPed first. So if you feel that you are good enough with the technologies in general you will be fine. Also, prepare to work for longer hours in Amazon.
I am in the final stage interview process with a company. The recruiter is asking me if I have any other interviews going on/I have any offers already. How should I answer this? Any resources for navigating through these issues.
Thanks for clarifying! Tbh I think Microsoft will be perfectly fine in the future. They may not be #1 in cloud, but Azure is still far ahead of GCP, and MSFT has a pretty wide variety of projects.
Fwiw I've heard retail eng teams at Amazon have the worst wlb, and w.r.t cloud there aren't a whole lot of positions on AWS teams / those positions are much more competitive
Bing might not be the sexiest thing to work on, but you'd probably still learn a lot working on that team. And there's also the option of internal or external mobility if you feel like switching things up in a year or two.
Do you have other offers or interviews?
I usually recommend disclosing them because it shows you're wanted (which in turn makes other companies want you more, weirdly enough)
I have another offer. But it's like 75K in LA. So, I don't know if it will help at all.
thanks for the insight. it would be great if Amazon just assigns teams with the offer. Makes things easier to compare
It's still worth disclosing the deadline so that you don't end up in a situation where you need to respond to one company but are still waiting on the other
Anyone has done paypal onsite?
Hey guys, anyone received Google OA recently?
Yes
Does anyone know what the rejection rule for most companies is? Lets say I get rejected for a particular role today, will I be able to apply for different roles with the same company today? Or do I need to wait for a certain amount of time before I can begin applying again
Zoom final scheduled for tomorrow yiiiiikes
Has anyone given google onsite yet?
did they asked you for transcript ? @leaden venture
They did when I applied
Like the application had me submit a transcript
But not after
I believe if you attend the non mandatory events you need to submit a transcript and updated resume
hey guys ,has anyone given Wyze labs interview ?
they asked for my transcript today..waiting for an update now
Hey guys! Does anyone know if Google extends their coding assessment deadline? They have given a form for extension request, but I am not sure if that would be a good idea. Reason for extension: Final exams at University
It's ok to ask imo
another day another reject

just do the test
those apps aren't out I believe
use a parser
@worthy spear
this one is good
but sometimes my react skill isnt registered as a skill
maybe cuz looking for React.js instead of React
Anyone interviews with Vicarious before?
did anyone interviewed with nutanix?
Did anyone have a technical screening with bloomberg? If yes, then in how many days did they get back? I have heard they reach back in 1-2 days if they want to reject otherwise they wait for around a week to schedule onsite. Is that true?
anyone do coderpad for motional?
I have heard that they get back to you within 2-3 regardless
Ohkay. Thanks!
Anyone recently interviewed with Liberty Mutual?
Did anyone interviewed for Nutanix New Grad MTS Developer? Can you share your experience?
Just scheduled an interview with EY for a Java Developer position..
Has anyone interviewed with them recently?
Hey please give me some tips for negotiation given that I already had a wors about the compensation with the hiring manager and i undersold myself
I want to talk to hin once again to raise my pay
Word*
Has anybody here given activation’s heckerrank test for a networking role? Was hoping to learn what to expect in the test (3 hours)
yes
They asked me to code some really simple problems. Like printing in a for loop and some basic OOP concepts
I got a offer from them but the pay was trash so I declined. But I thought the interview process was really easy
any tips for attempting google OA?
What type of considerations should I make when negotiating the salary of a remote position (staying remote post covid)? Do I take into account my location, their location (same state), or both?
Also if anyone has any insights in salary expectations for new grad software engineering in Florida it'd be appreciated, I've come up with 70-90k through online stats and asking around

Has anyone gone through the datis HR technical interview for the full stack developer role.

What is googles new grad process like? Recruiter just asked me to schedule a call after OA
OA -> recruiter call -> onsite
how do you guys keep the vigilance to keep going after rejections 😭
put em in the trash and apply more
@eternal jolt almost all of us were in a similar situation , you just gotta keep grinding
There will be light at the end my friend
i am starting to feel really behind because i feel like i started applying so late and i dont have an offer and im getting sad and losing hope lol someone shed some advice and light pls
I believe in you. Don’t stop learning and improving your skills. Eventually things will fall into place
thanks yall 🥺 im just down bad and i need to be more confident
Any suggestions for applying for SDE role with 2 years of experiencem? I'm not getting any interview calls.
Any help/suggestions is really appreciated.
what do you guys think about an automation/qa role? if it pays 125k in bay area
Idk if I’m having a bad day or what but I got absolutely stumped by that path ai question
Rip me
I am loking for opportunity in Software/Web Development. So far I have used only linkedin to see openings. Which other job boards should I look into? Dice/career builder/Indeed? I am confused because I think I never got any reply from applications through Indeed when I was looking for an internship.

because amazon is ass
he makes a valid point ^
LMAO the deciding factor
Yeah you will not be happy as a new grad in amazon
it ain't all that bad
bay area cold kills me chief, i think id freeze in ny
just buy a canada goose w that 200k tc
and tbf sf can be deceptively cold, I rmb when I first went there I was like why tf is it so foggy and cold 💀
at least w nyc you know what you're getting
Google any day for new grads
^ fuck az
I have an assessment for AWS SDE role. There will be 2 questions and I have 105 mins. Any tips on that? Any specific data structures that I should focus on?
It says AWS S3 SDE position.
Do you guys know if any companies are still hiring in LA area?
Has anyone given the Goldman sachs onsite/super day interview recently?
tinder
snap, only for 1 team rn tho i think
hmm, I can't seem to find any new grad listings for tinder
Ah I see, i wonder if that application is still open
oh i think it closed a while back, sry
No worries 🙂
so, google process is OA, recruiter, then system design?
Anyone heard back after WePay OA?
Not sure if they ask system design for new grads but I think it's recruiter then final round of interviews
ahh what do the final rounds typically look like if you may know?
i think im going to shoot for the next new grad opening either this summer or fall
and want to be as prepared as i can be
I read some posts on leetcode discuss and it's mostly technical leetcode style questions and 1 behavioral
thats not bad at all
Should still confirm with someone who has actually gone through the process here
I went through a mid size start up new grad interview and the final round was 4 hours: system design, technical discussions, and behavior
like por que why lol
at least it wasn't triplebyte lmao
had a question on one this morning asking about the data collection laws for New York vs CA.
i applied for a Jr. Front End position
i applied for a front end position even though i havent touched a front end project in 2 years 🤡
lmaooo
these job postings on linkedin
that always get updated
is that linkedin doing it or the companies who posted them
cuz i think i reapply to a lot of the same positions lmfao
LinkedIn scrapes jobs from other job sites and/or company career pages
If you want the most up-to-date postings for a company, you have to go to their career page
Can anybody pls give me an idea how to go about this?
There are some students, sitting in a circle. Each student is assigned a roll no (1 to n). There is a teacher who was given an initial roll no and he has to remove the student with initial roll no. and then has to remove the student who was at that position starting from the removed student. Your function should return the last student left. Example: 2, 3, 1, 4, 5 start with 3, remove 3, then remove 5, then remove 1 (follow circle), then remove 4. Ans – 2.
Check Josephus problem.... kind of similar.... with bit modification I feel
any tips for pathAI OA and Google OA?
Has anyone here gone through team matching at Amazon? I can’t decide which team to pick and would appreciate some help
Can someone tell me the complexity for number of unique paths in a grid, without memoization?
Starting from top left, get number of paths to bottom right using dfs.
I'm confused because of the number of redundant paths. Is it still O(n^2) and how?
what's the lc question?
pretty sure the recursive solution is O(2^N), could be wrong tho
can you explain how, given the number of blocks you traverse redundantly
I just had an interview and yeah I ended up saying O(n^2) too, but he didn't ask me to explain fortunately
Each time we call our recursive functions and go to a further layer, we have two more branches == exponential
think of Fibonacci recursion
Oh damn I misread
this makes sense thanks
I said "at least O(n^2)" but yeah the interview went overall and I solved the problem quickly so hopefully I shouldn't get disqualified based on just that
did you use the DP solution or recursive one?
I used recursion with memoization, he asked me complexity for both
with memoization is easy
no they were different. I said O(m*n) for with memoization at least.
But said O(n^2) for a general n which I think was fine
though wrong obv. lol
Rakuten
@slim lake why is O(n^2) wrong ? 🤔
my interviewer for my zoom interview wanted me to make a recursive power of 2 function in python
i was like why would i EVER do this
lmao
python stack calls are disgusting
i've heard bytedance, at least in the us, has some of the worst wlb around
In what sense do you mean.
Big O means it is limited above by a multiple of that function. If it is in reality 2^n it cannot be O(n^2) because 2^n would exceed that for a given value of x
damn that old mission capital offer in #new_grad_salary_sharing
That offer is fucking crazy
i ain't even heard of old mission capital before lmao
Salary 150$? lol
I think its 2^(max(M,N)) bc if M == N, then it would become 2^(N^2) when it should actually be 2^N
A recruiter for a small company said he'd let me know tocay about my decision and he hasn't gotten back to me, should I wait a couple of days or just follow up with him today?
anybody here apply to the NSA for swe
maybe wait a couple days and don't worry
i would check in on monday about it
just like a general heads up about the results since they promised they would reach out by EOD today
Anyone here have experience with chewy’s process?
me
Anybody here who still haven’t heard back from Better.com after onsite for Associate SWE role
anyone get message "workday is currently unavailable"?
can anyone point me to the renege template?
same
yes, I got it.
Server downtime. Happens every week i guess.
anyone do the sap oa?
it's pinned
Anybody know what Twilio process is after OA?
Onsite
same difficulty just longer and wider scope of potential questions

anyone get responses from coinbase at any point?
no
i have
nice, howd it go?
Have an assessment for AWS SDE-1 position. There are two questions and have 105 mins. Any tips for this assessment? Should i focus more on graph/tree?
its oa->recruiter call-> tech screen->onsite
I took my tech screen waiting for response
I would say they were lc mediums

lc mediums in general - focus on passing all test cases

in general? CTCI, grokking , Elements of programming, blind 75 list are classic for the technical portion

CTCI - also has good chapter on it
for common interview interview u could always prepare for them beforehand
projects you should always be ready to explain in detail
think about all the decisions that you made and justify them
any major challenges encountered and explain how you overcome them
also make sure to use "i" language and now "we" if you're talking about a team effort as to not deemphasize your own personal contributions
also study up on the values of the company
make sure that your behaviorals tie into their values somehow
the whole idea is to see how well you can 1.) assimilate into the company's culture and work environment and 2.) see how good of a person you are to work with
yeah like
instead of saying "we implemented a feature to"
say "i implemented a feature"
obviously don't lie and say you did things you didn't
ye, best of luck!
u want to focus on the impact you directly had
in my zoom interview i only talked about the things that i did directly
and u can always kind of word things to sound like u had the most impact even if it was a group project
although dont take my advice until i get an offer LOL
yeah in my twitch interview, they asked me what other people in the team were doing and i tied that into how i collaborated with them and understood what else was going on in the rest of the project instead of only caring about my own part and not knowing what else was going on
Has anyone ever rescheduled an interview? Does it look bad?
I have an onsite with google on friday
And I have been so sick all week
yea its fine just say you are sick
nobody cares and google just hires everyone that hits their bar so its not like you are going to lose your spot, at a smaller company that might be a concern
Okay thank you!! I’m going to email my recruiter
Is it true that Amazon has removed python from OA?
Also don't take it too far and make it sound like you did everything
A little bit of humility goes a long way
whoa what
if amazon removes python from OA this server is in tatters
They’re probably talking about OA1 debugging. The options are like c++, java, and something else, I think c#
i think it's C
or i might be making that up
but yeah python is only in OA2
and the interviews
^ it is C

amazon pipped python

From oa2?

anybody has "Transferred" show up on their action center at Microsoft after offer discussion?
iirc that might mean you're moved on from the general applicant pool to a specific university recruiter
oh sorry after offer discussion lol, no idea then
yikes.... okay. thanks
disregard that, i mean if you already got an offer it prob doesn't matter?

Is Amazon still hiring for Software Dev Engineer I?
as in not the new grad role?
aren’t sde1 openings by team?
i dont think they cutoff at a certain point
search on linkedin .. there's many hiring managers posting about open positions at Amazon

yes i have had recruiters spam my linkedin dms for swe i, ii, and even iii so they are definitely hiring
Anyone know what the Expedia offer is in Denver?
You can only use this command in #2021_grad_process or #2021_intern_process
Anyone get through Bloomberg’s technical phone interview ? What they ask you ?
LC medium Bloomberg tagged + Blind 75. Do these
yo is this offer legit
i just had recruiter call and they told me everyone gets the same non negotiable offer but this is not the offer i got lol
is he just capping
Hey guys, anybody received Google OA today?
@uneven topaz maybe a returning intern? or a master’s grad?
Bc that’s well above what levels.fyi shows as well
yee theres alot of cap in that channel
For those of you who got a google phone call after the OA, how long did it take them to get back to you after the oa?
Looks believable to me compared to companies like msft, amz, etc.
is SWE 1 same thing as New Grad at ebay?
idk tbh
What the hell does someone even benefit from capping about an anonymous salary lol people are very strange
Why are people so weird
Is anyone still getting interviews
Or is it too later
Also if I apply now can I still apply for the same companies in fall?
Still getting interviews. And yes
Apply both. Fall will have new links
Did anyone ger the data solution oa from wayfair?
Got a mail for transcripts two days later, no call though yet
Anyone know how long it takes to hear back from google after new grad final round
Question for people who previously intern at Google if you get a return offer to work for them do you go automatically to L4 level or start like everyone else at L3 level?
are u ever gonna accept an offer 😛
meanwhile im just hoping zoom gives me an offer so i can finally stop applying
lmao
reach out to professors/labs to see if they have any projects/research that you can work on, it'll look a lot better than having a blank there
esp so if you're at a top 20 school (for cs i assume)
and if you actually make meaningful/cool coontributions to a cool project then it looks pretty nice on resume still
gl
or any tech related school jobs helps
sometimes the research jobs posted the professors will want experience as well, in my time at uni I did 7 different student jobs in programming
Just got the Google OA. Any inputs on what type of questions were asked? Medium/hard? DPs?
I have technical phone screen (1 hr) round for AWS SDE-1 role. Any tips on that?
Also have a technical phone screen for Frontend position at Verkada, I will be using Javascript for that. Any lead would be appreciated.
hey 2021 grads, I'll be graduating next year and was wondering, when do u guys think the 2022 new grad listings will be starting to trickle out?
thx
What do y'all think of this? https://www.reddit.com/r/cscareerquestions/comments/mu0ny2/candidate_if_you_dont_provide_a_flexible_working/
1,433 votes and 472 comments so far on Reddit
just clarify with your recruiter if there will be a technical round pertaining to LC/algo problem solving
lol ye instead of guessing what the interviews gonna be on, ask her
she wants you to succeed so no harm in ever asking recruiters this type of info
Anyone mind sharing some behavioral interview questions they've been asked?
"What's a hard roadblock that you've ran into in a project and how did you solve it?"
Something like that was asked in my zoom interview recently
“can you talk about a time where you disagreed with a team member on a project decision? how did you handle it?”
Talk about a time where you disagreed strongly with a technical decision in a group and how you resolved it
"Tell me about a time you used data to convince somebody of something."
(ML question) Does anyone know how the complexity of the RNN is O(n*d^2) ?
me too
where is the matrix in an RNN. Makes sense for a CNN with convolutions
Yep
It should be in the same complexity range I guess
Oh maybe they mean a multi-layer RNN/LSTM. That should still be O(n*d) I think? Edit: No it would be O(n*m) where m is the number of layers
why would that be d^2 though?
d is the embedding dimension
even considering each "multilayer" as one layer, it would still be O(n*m*d) where m is the number of layers right?
Study OOP, threads and processes, data structures, algorithms
Also maybe some data base shit idk depends on what company
fair enough lol
this is the worst when their expectations are so vague so you need to study everything and constantly feel nervous as shit with no idea what to expect
which company
I couldn't find the channel for 2022 grads... I just have a couple of questions.
1./ I come from a no-name midwest school, but I have a good (3.9) gpa and two fortune 500 internships. Is this good enough to get interviews from places like nvidia, linkedin, github, microsoft, square, etc.? I'm taking project heavy classes this sem and i'm hoping to do one this summer as the project section of my resume is lacking.
If anyone is/was in a similar situation as me i'd love to speak to you
2./ I don't have much experience in the interview process. I've done about 50 leetcodes since I hear that all of these companies ask those types of questions. Should I be preparing from OOP/system design as well, or is that dependent from company to company?
How long does it take to hear back from google after new grad final round
you should get interviews fine, make sure your resume highlights key contributions/technologies that you made and used at your internships/for your projects
also, i've said this before, but definitely reach out to profs to work on interesting projects or research to put on your resume. for interviews, grind leetcode, make sure your pattern recognition for types of problems is good and you know how to solve general types of problems. try blind 75 for a good starting point. new grad interviews will rarely ask real high-level system design ime, more likely if they ask sys design at all it'll be at the api level (e.g. create a class or an api)
also don't sleep on behavioral, make sure you know your resume and know how to make yourself stand out, prepare a few specific examples that you can use for different behavioral q's
Ive been asked to design a rest api and also schemas before
I didnt rlly study for that but it was pretty easy since i work with that stuff
Dope. I do have some research experience, and ill definitely keep this advice in mind. I generally consider myself pretty good at the behavioral (although this is subjective) questions, but I think i'll find someone that I can practice that with.
@elder maple Does that vary from company to company?
Yeah i'd say so
team matching is the next process
So i guess i should focus on technical interviews and brush up on concepts etc, because that doesn't sound too awful
Hold up, you’re telling me that there’s MORE steps in the process after 5 rounds of interviews? What the hell
Yup pretty standard for Google, but it's going to be a lot less formal
Ridiculous
You are interviewing for which company?
Hey so let's say you just got your first job offer but the pay is kinda trash and they give u only a week to accept. But you are also interviewing with other companies at the same time. Would u accept the offer just in case and just reneg if u get smth better?
Yes
Yeah do that if you can’t get more time
Bruh yeah the recruiter rlly was tryna rush me
Like black listing resets prolly
"No later than 4/26" im like bruh rlly.
But you probably not coming back anyways
Lol
Is that the unique identifier
But never did it
Hey anyone know anything about the 2021 Enterprise Data Accelerated Talent Entry Program at Bloomberg?
Honestly its a bridge i dont rlly mind burning
Think i might get blacklisted by the recruiting agency tho. This job was actually smth i got from them reaching out to me on linkedin.
Oof
Was that agency very helpful? They get a cut from the company when you accept an offer?
Prob, cuz they rlly want me to accept LOL
Reached out to me on linkedin
Anyone here moving to Austin
Did that, and reneged lol. Companies don’t care about you, do what’s best for you
Awesome, thanks for the feedback
@elder maple yes, I've never met a single person who says they've regret reneging (even including big tech names), in fact I've usually heard regrets the opposite way when I've heard people stuck at companies they don't like / feel underpaid
^
nothing more demotivating than working long hours in a job you hate when you know you could've had like double your salary
companies aren't your friends. they'll be fine if you renege.
📠 alright
yes especially if they don't respect you enough to not make an exploding offer
also for exploding offers
just say
"I really would like to work at x company, but I need to discuss this with <literally enter anyone here, just say family even> as this affects them as well."
it makes it seem like ur not egging them on while also making them look like an asshole if they don't give u more time
sure, but do they need to know that?
no
youd be surprised at how little people renege
I had research exp but I got some good offers IMO (and definitely interviews)
depends on the companies size
Tell the other companies you're still interviewing with that you have an offer
What the fuck
id say like 150-200ish engineers at the location i'm going to be at
seems kind of strange - maybe they believe in "flat structure" - the team leads might acts as pseudo managers - not too sure
My recruiter sent my offer to the wrong email address. So they kept bugging me on why I havent accepted. But I was just like: wheres my offer?
Granted its not completely their fault because they had to go through a PEO to hire me xd
Seattle location?
Is there an open source version of coderpad which we can use for mock interviews and stuff?
Thanks a lot
my manager was a vp in a large non-tech company but my team was really new so that’s why
Is Twitter still hiring new grads? Or are they done for this year?
What do you mean they watch you?
Lmao
All the jobs i've applied to have been SWE
or UX
and I haven't gotten a single interview ever
any tips for nutanix phone?
Anyone hear back from google after the 5 rounds of interviews for the new grad position
I thought google didn’t put any postings up this time for new grad swe for the US?
they did, back at the end of feb/beginning of march
are yall having your google interviews back 2 back
or are yall trying to split them 2, 3 in two days like they offered
Smh startups that are offering unpaid jobs but require years of experience
Who the fuck gonna apply to that
desperate people
honestly
sad that those internships are taking advantage of people
Did you do any internships while you were in school?
Did you do any internships while you were in school?
@spice bane yeah lol I did like 3
I’m doing one rn
Wtf and nobody hitting you up? Where are you located
East coast
I woulda thought anyone with 3 internships ez mode after grad
How many places you apply to?
Jesus I didnt know the market was that rough
Have you looked outside of your area/region? Was it the same?
Ngl Im genuinely surprised someone with 3 internships worth of experience is getting the short end of the stick
post ur resume in #resume could only help
Is the WePay recruiter call just discussing resume stuff?
Or is it a technical phone screen?
Any tips for gs superday
I booked an interview for next month .. will that be too late to get an offer?
Idk lol
The earlier the better but it’s definitely not too late. They hire year round
When’s the earliest u would reccomend looking for full time new grad (may ‘22) positions?
Early summer? And when would these positions stop
Start*** sorry sorry
You will have to do 20 leetcode problems in the next 30 hours as a punishment. Only after that you shall be forgiven.
u can choose a start date from graduation to Sept I think .. it might be later too
Tyy
when 2022 grads will open?
I have a first round phone interview with Qualcomm tomorrow for the SDET role. Anyone know what I can expect? Is it purely behavioural ? The email said quick phone call not more than 45 minutes.
I have technical screen interview for Front-end position and Backend position(both are different calls & companies). Any guidance for that? Are there any general questions they would ask on Front-end/ backend?
Is this for a new grad position?
Asking for a friend but has anyone know the level of questions for Google’s 5 rounds?
expect mediums to hards
Hello, anyone interviewed or wrote OA for ByteDance Singapore?
Yo i got one too lol. Did you get it from a dude named Richard Smith?
wtf how people be sliding into your dms
Bruh i think that dude been mass sending the message
Cuz he copy and pasted my name and another dude right after
Im like who tf is vinay?
Well he hasn't responded yet, idk if it's legit.
Not yet, its via email right?
Sent my resume havent gotten it yet
lmfaoooo good luck my guy
fuck that other exploding offer
sheesh
UC built different
I got an Amazon Vancouver dude a few months ago. Seems random
those all sound like good things, but since you bring up the former yahoo CEO, my understanding is she has a very bad reputation as a leader/ceo
so you might wanna look into that
Damn i didnt know
yeah she left yahoo with over 150 million as payout and thousands of jobs lost, she was heavily criticized for the payout
yahoo was a failing company when she got on, so who knows, maybe she didn't have much to work with, but yahoo was not doing so great when she left
Well dont even know if i made it to the final yet, just finished 2nd coderpad, so ill worry about it when i do lol.
now thats "impact"
Anyone know what kinda problems to practice or the difficulty to expect for the first tech interview of 60 mins for SDE 1 at Amazon? Got it through a recruiter and didn't give any OA other than the failed attempt back in Jan.
Is Amazon still hiring for new grad role?
No idea, these were reg sde
20 min leadership and 45 min for coding 5 min for reverse inteview
I see. Thanks!
What was the level of difficulty for coding? LC medium hard?
Nice! I did find a list for Blind 75 and can get amazon tagged from LC premium. But I am open to any helpful links you have for that. either way thank you very much! 😄
I think Blind 75 covers most of the problem patterns
I need some opinions. I have 2 OAs tomorrow. Should I take the one I don’t care about more first to squeeze in practice or take the one I care about more first so my brain is more fresh
take the one u care abt first
let ur best performance be with the one u want to work at
I think I’m just nervous to get started with the one I care more about in case I have a brain fart or something
What to expect in an interview director of engineering of a medium-sized company? The recruiter told that expect technical and behavioral questions.
if you renege from Amazon new grad, do they contact your university?
@slim inlet I always warm up with 2-3 lc before an OA
Kind of feels like stretching before running
And it boosts your confidence
1h screen (10-20m behavioral, rest technical), 5 round onsite
That's rough
5 rounds onsite? sounds like a competitive tekken match
Voleon did the same
way too exhausting tbh
How difficult are technical questions for Amazon SDE-1 Onsite?
I was expecting medium-ish for OA 2 but got 2 LC hards so I'm kinda worried it will be similar for onsite as well
haven't done the onsite yet, but i think it's 3 coding rounds (lc med/hard), 1 sys design, and 1 30 min behavioral
Im already in process with a phone interview scheduled with Amazon. But another recruiter reached out with a online assessment for another team. What should I respond?
send them my contact information
I want to know if split loop is possible at Amazon.
anyone graduating in December already have an offer?
y’all what is revature? i looked them up and it seems like ass and they keep emailing/messaging me lol
afaik they're a tech consulting firm kinda like tcs or cognizant
Avoid them
^ i agree, heard horror stories about consulting firms
Anybody here take the google university grad SE coding exercise? Says 2 questions in 90 minutes. Wanted to know what to expect. Thanks!
Has anyone gone through the Expedia on-site for SDE 1? It’s different from the new grad I believe
lmfaoooo im stealing this
it was really fuckin rough can confirm
Seems excessive for a company like snap
motional is having me do a 5 hour on-site too
they even had a system design round
yeah their business model is very different from their interviews lol
what’s with these companies thinking they can just use up 5 hours worth of brain activity
it’s so shit lol
intense brain activity too
I like system design questions tbh, but that is kind of dumb considering how awful their android app is
could happen, I had the same thing happen to me for zoom but I just told the other interviewer I'm already in the loop
I wonder can Canadian work remotely for US office and have US offer?
But physically in Canada
Even we are working remotely now?
If you started in the US then you can be taking your us salary here
Just until return to office so it’s really an exception
If you started totally remote you get a Canadian contract with cad
Regardless of team
Gotcha
Kinda worth nothing though that you get a split contract
So you get an upper end cad offer but not same as usd
Could you make it better tho? Felt like it was rushed
wdym? your quote?
oh god a recruiter from cognizant reached out to me 🥴 is it time to settle for cognizant
Better off doing side projects/LC unless you really need the money/experience IMO
What is the call with technical recruiter after google oa? Behavioral?
nah its informal round
to explain about the interview process
Has anyone heard back from Snapchat yet?
i did but depends which stage you mean
hmm, I was honestly wondering if anyone heard back at all haha, whether that's a request for a coding test or a phone screen
yeah i just did my onsite this monday
Oh wow, awesome! Was this for 2021 new grad?
yes for 2021 new grad for spam and abuse team
never
Dope man! When did you apply btw?
i didn't apply they reached out to me on linkedin, which was like... a month ago i think?
I wonder anyone has experience of negotiating Amazon new grads offer? Specially Van office. Please DM me.
Amazon doesn’t negotiate new grad
thanks
I have AWS SDE-1 screen interview. Its of one hour and there will be live coding and behavior qns. Any specific topics/qns i should keep in mind?
graph,tree,question similar to no.of islands
Has anyone received anything from PayPal for this recruiting season?
#new_grad_salary_sharing message
Love working for mircrosoft
Thanks
Is there any good Five star seller solution in python3 without using heapq?
That was me I’m so stupid ahahaha
Also from June 2020 🤣
A recruiter scheduled a call but my bad i missed it
And he isnt responding 🤡
Ahh.. damn🥺
thanks paypal
I was able to solve it wothout heapq :D
Number of islands is my final boss question I always fuck up on onsites
Even tho I know it’s just dfs
anyone attempted SAP - Rotational Program - 2021 Grads' OA?
it was like 2 lc easies
ideally. when shall one start to look for new grad if willing to get into hedge funds ?
if graduating in 2022
i did
i know some have already started
can u name few of them which had already started ?
I don't remember the names since I wasn't interested in the roles but they did catch my attention given how early it is to recruit for 2022 grads
i took it as well. havent heard back since taking it though
Anyone heard of Picovoice?
Anyone here still waiting for the goldman sachs interview to be scheduled?
They ghosted me when I tried to reschedule fuck gs tbh
When you guys move/moved to a new city for new grad jobs do you live in the city city (downtown, midtown, etc.) or in the suburbs?
