always useful for a engineering manager chat
yea def
lc is all u need

Anyone have a recommendation to learn system design basics?

may we all wake up with OAs from Google amen
May my upcoming Google OA be easy amen

hey does anyone have any tips/advice for offer negotiation? I am expecting to get a full time offer soon at the current place I'm interning at 🙂
never hurts to interview

I was supposed to graduate in may 21, but got an internship for spring, so now I'm graduating in December. When should i start looking for jobs? And will those be 2021 new grad positions or 2022?
start applying around july/august
I'm in the same boat as you, i agree with Jake, application for all big companies start around July, August, September at the latest. Ideally apply as soon as applications opens up. Applying for 2022 positions might be better for you considering a lot more opportunities for 2022 and try to see if you can start in January or so with the recruiter.
Wait, so companies dont implicitly start in Jan if someone graduates in December? Cuz, I'm an intl student, and I cant wait till july 22 to start a job after graduating in December
then just start applying to companies in july of this year if that works better for you. I don't know what start dates look like for December grads but I know capital one starts their December grads in February
A lot of companies have cohorts that start in February
Competing offers 😂
looool I barely got this one 😆 but yeah that could be a good hand to play
Have competing offers or have demonstrated that your value that you provide as a software engineer is higher than what you're currently being offered
I negotiated higher pay in my return offer because I had shipped entire features to prod and that's something above most interns
And that's how I used that offer to leverage my DC offer
Yo when y'all sign Google offers do y'all get class A or class C RSUs??
has anyone applied for the yahoo version associate PM position and heard back?

Does anyone have any experience for WillowTree New Grad Final round?

i need some advice. i just got a job offer but i have two interviews coming up in the two weeks that i have to make a decision
how should i go about this
i still wanna interview with them, and possibly get an offer
anyone know why my offer from amazon is for dallas when i applied to seattle? Do i have to accept the offer to negotiate location?
new grad?
you applied for amazon as a whole
not to sure if you can move your location
my friend was not able too
to
yes new grad aws
After 6 months I finally got a really nice job holy fuck
hell yeah congrats 🙂 where at!
T. Rowe Price, it's a global investment firm stationed in Maryland!
lets gooo nice work
I'm just so happy. I kept telling myself I could look back on all the rejections after but was starting to lose hope because I'm so bad at LeetCode
I still am awful at LeetCode, I didn't even finish the leetcode they gave me. But they must have liked something else
i think if you go through the problem solving process and they really think you're a good fit for the team, it can be better than just trying to find the optimal solution
has anyone ever written a successful email telling a company that they received a job offer from another company and wanted to see if you could expedite the interview process?
Yeah all the time
is it dumb if i send a message like that to multiple companies, i feel bad if im asking for a priority interview and then don't even take the job if i get it
Just tell them that you have an offer deadline and that if there's anything that they can do to expedite the process
Nah don't feel bad
interviewing is a two way street
true
i have an interview on friday and have two weeks to make a decision so i might not even mention it to that company until after the interview
i'd just mention it tbh, it might add grease to the interview process, might not
true
in my experience it's pretty made for an easy interview because if someone else is interested in me and the company that hasn't given me an offer is interested in me, then they feel like "oh shit someone wants this cowpoke, let's try and push him through"
just my exp tho and that's purely anecdotal
i sent a few emails out and got a response already from one saying they'd expedite the process 😁
y are they good to join?
Pre-IPO and expanding rapidly
Hey guys, I have a question that some of you might find relatable: I have applied for grad school (not been accepted/rejected yet), and applying for full-time positions simultaneously as a safeguard. Should I disclose about the grad schools in screening calls/interviews?
if you're going to grad school full time when you would be working then yeah
actually i wouldn't even say anything until it's official
good luck!!
i've had a bunch of problems with time zone differences, you'd think that these companies could implement something that automatically adjusts the scheduler to be in your time zone
congrats! nice nice
thank you for the advice
apple sending me a survey asking me how the job application process was but they haven't even responded to my application 😭

Did anyone not get a reject from Expedia?

i did not get rejected from expedia but i also did not get any further steps so.... i feel like im just ghosted

Got the ol' 👻
(double prayer cause I'm desperate AF)

Anyone interview with Rubrik?

Has anyone given a coding assessment for Sun west mortgage company software engineer position ? If so please share the experience about it, thank you
Google changed their description and removed the part where they said they won't be sponsoring
FYI
So if you didn't apply before you could now
Same :/
Nice
So I skipped the Amazon OA and they sent me an email today about how they will reinstate my application WTF
Why do they spam people to take OA...
I skipped it in Fall
Reinstate? What's that supposed to mean

It is Wednesday my dudes. Auspicious day. Pray from heart and pepe will hear.
Which ones did you do?
🕯️
C#/dotnet/git ones mostly
Does amazon new grad give LC hard in 3x 45 min interviews or just LC easy and med?

anyone go through the microsoft new grad pm process?

lol do you already have other offers?
Is 5 rounds of interviews worth it (technically it's 6)?
Can i apply to google's US new grad posting or will they reroute my application to the canadian posting?

Anybody got any OA's or heard back for the System Dev Engineer at Amazon?

Did anyone just get ghosted by roblox after doing their hackerrank?

anyone done the old mission capital oa?
extremely difficult and long
well that's not fun
Remember when Twitter said they'd get back to everyone and then left me on ghost?
Gave it recently. Not that difficult. Easy-Medium I'd say
Ghosted since then
Which role did you select?
There was a backend one, and like 5 others
Oh
No mine was Early Career Software Engineering
I don't remember having a specific role in the title
You select one of these

I selected the research one. Both limits my competition, but also significantly increases the standards.
@woeful dew If this is not what you saw you might have applied for something else
Could you link to Twitter early career?
Company Description: Twitter is where you go to talk about what’s happening; it carries some of the most important commentary and conversations, and mobilizes people into action.
Joining the team today, means you’ll have an impact on the conversation of tomorrow.
We want every Tweep regardless of location or job to understand their role in cr...
Thank you :)
So. Ebay codesignal, any idea what their cutoff might be? 800 or higher?

I and a bunch of people here haven't heard back .. someone said they got 800+, I got like 760
does anyone else find codesignal shit to use with Java
I got super easy 1,2,4 for square but wasted so much time on dumb issues that you don’t see with other platforms
I prefer java, but python just makes leetcode style questions so much easier
I started using python after I got 2-3 code signal assessments
yeah Im gonna start my switch to Python
I don’t have any trouble using java on LC
Python is just faster most of the time
python makes life a lot easier
Lol it's not a faang...not really a big company but it is somewhat known in the security field (I think lol) rip
Probably not because they don't hire a lot of new grads
I can never get above 800 on codesignal. What do I need to practice on LC to achieve that. I feel codesignal has a very specific set of shitty questions. At least on of them will be.
Like the last one I did one of them was a math question
Yeah but that never happens as consistently on hacker rank than it does on codesignal
So I feel like there's some genre of questions that codesignal uses specifically
Idk it's a small sample size so maybe I'm wrong
codesignal problem statements are really hard to understand sometimes
codesignal fucks me every time sadge
I rage quit both times I had to do an OA
yeah
tho i've had a few company-specific codesignals that haven't been too awful
but the general assessments just kill me
on a separate note, the pain after a rejection you were confident about is real

anyone have any ongoing OA's to take? All the companies that sent me OAs have ghosted me
Are there any companies actively recruiting except for Goldman, Intuit, blackrock
also have one akuna OA pending
i've been getting a few but mostly from smaller companies/startups
I’ll take anything at this point tbh
amen, i ain't saying smaller companies or startups r worse
Did anyone get Rubrik New Grad offer this year?
I feel this!!
mood
got dinged after onsite
Any insight on Amazon PMT role interviews?
I got 810 havent heard back 😅
Gonna do the twitter OA, havent done a hackerrank one yet. Hope its better than codesignals.
haven't heard back from 848 yet
eBay is dumb
They send everyone the codesignal
I don’t like when they send everyone the OA; they should screen then send as opposed to sending then screening
Damn it feels good to write a solution on leetcode and it accepts it first try.
"Ya sex is cool but have you ever had your submission accepted first try on Leetcode." 🤣
That only happens to me on easies
I KNOW! This was a medium. I'm def improving
@people who have done the 3 hr amazon onsite, how many behavioral questions did you all get?
no news on jobs today, but the discord we started for school got partnered which is hype :)
I enjoy hacker rank personally, wasn't too bad
they're assholes for doing that, but I guess take it as an opportunity to practice leetcode
you got the interview yesterday?
which role?
sde - developer platform
any tips on apple final round? apparently i have 6 interviewers WTF
i had 3 interviews with 2-3 people per interview lol..... it was brutal...
no breaks either
it sucks that you gotta be perfect in each round lol, no room for mistakes
wtffff end me
nah fam dont wanna scare you, just my experience lol
I do relatively poor on behaviorals I think
I think moreso than laser focusing on perfection just try to go thru the process and communicate how you would get there? I've tried to be perfect and end up just screwing myself out of nerves most of the time
Obv being perfect isn't a bad thing but it's hard
they're definitely a company that actually cares more about thought process than spitting out the correct solution so be personable and communicative
thanks guys, imma try to learn dp in a week
there is definitely a dp solution to learning dp in a week
Oh there is a sick video for DP, 1 second @placid marlin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBt53YbR9Kk
Ok, yes its a 5 hour video. The first half he goes through DP problems, solves them without memoization, then with. The second half is him re-doing the same problems but using a bottom-up approach. Watch it at 1.5x speed and just commit to it. Does a great job.

This course was developed by Alvin Zablan from Coderbyte. Coderbyte is one of the top websites for technical interview prep and c...
ahh thanks! Ill check it out. This is also a great resource from LC that I found which groups DP problems together: https://leetcode.com/discuss/general-discussion/458695/dynamic-programming-patterns#Minimum-(Maximum)-Path-to-Reach-a-Target
Is anyone interviewing at cockroach labs?
Quick question: So with CodeSignal doesn't allow you to take multiple exams within a 14 day period for multiple companies. What about HackerRank? For example, I got the OA for Twitter to do and the OA for Roblox to do within the next 5-7 days. Will those be two separate tests or will I take one which I will submit to both?
Hackerranks are always separate, as far as I'm aware
Awesome, thanks for the quick response.
In my Goldman sachs portal. Of the two positions I applied. One changed to 'Not being considiered' and another one is in 'Interview'. When can I expect to get an update?
anyone have any good hashing videos? i understand them conceptually but just wanna get better
Mine still says ‘resume under review’ so I guess you should get an update pretty soon
anyone interviewed with qualtrics? i have a technical soon and i have no idea what to expect
mine also says interview but have not heard anything yet
it was updated today tho
so i'll be patient 🙂
Anyone interviewed with twilio before?
Has anyone completed the HRT second round of Interview process?
Anyone interviewed Auth0 before?
Who got that roblox OA
anyone interviewed with qualtrics? i have a technical soon and i have no idea what to expect
@knotty basin I just did my first phone. It was some resume discussion and 1 lc medium problem for me
I'm really new to this, what's the format to apply? - resume, do projects, apply, interview (apply on web, then phone, then in-person or online interview with leetcode + behavioral)

Does roblox send the hackerrank to all applicants?
Yes

Is amazon sending mass rejects after oa3 for new grad? 4 of my classmates have got rejects yesterday

I feel like they hired like crazy in december january and now raised the bar again
I haven’t heard many people getting offers in recent weeks
there won't be much of an auth0 left after the merger
bloomberg reached out to schedule phone but i really can't be bothered to do it or even let them know i'm not interested anymore
yay or nay to ghosting

dont think so
personally know 4 people who got offers last week or two
Did anyone attend the better.com interview prep webinar?

Be the change you want to see
I got the same 'interview' in my portal as well. The thing is the system did reach out to me to schedule the coderpad interview, but I never got a confirmation for 3 days. If anyone has contact info of any Goldman recruiter I would really appreciate.
omg really? this was for the on site right?
LMAO 😂😂
good luck with the Microsoft interview :]
What is an exploding offer?
is 3 days an exploding offer?
Are interviewers ever weird about cheeky stuff in python like using lamdas or enumerate() or heapify?
Obviously the best policy is to know both approaches, but I want to know if anyones been asked not to use something before
Its probably a mix of both. Once my friend was given the feedback that his code was not pythonic because he mainly used c style code
interviewer has been out of the game too long...
Anyone got offer from microsoft india ? Please , let me know

Hey everyone, I have a 30 minute microsoft phone screen later today. Did anyone else go through this? Is it just a resume screen or was anyone asked technical questions?
If its new grad: most likely a resume screen. They may throw a few questions about recursion and other cs fundamentals. no coding.
sorry, I forgot to clarify that it's for new grad. Ok awesome, thanks!
Does facebook hire University grad? I could not find any openings on their career sites. Any response will be of much help.
They did not this year only return interns
No chance for 2021 university grad?
I wonder every company does that. However Facebook is the only exception. Is it because they are too greedy to hire only experienced ones so that they don't have to deal with new grads starting from scratch?
Facebook typically hires lots of new grads this year is a pandemic and budgets are scrutinized they decided to not hire externally for new grad
Like Google just opened their new grad SWE last week
Different times we are in
lot of people are probably going to deffer graduation to next summer
It's going to be insanely competitive for sure
i was considering doing this for quite a bit. I know some people deferring until dec 2021. Do you really think there's going to be a lot of people doing this?
There’s more people deferring in general
Whether it’s more competitive idk but this year has been all online and it’s prob a good opportunity to defer
imo if u plan on switching companies in 1-2 yrs anyway then it doesn't make sense to defer
There are way more new grad positions than 1-2YOE positions
At that point you’re kinda stuck between not having much experience and having enough experience to not qualify as a new grad
has anyone interviewed for chewy's new grad role?
i just got the hackerrank too
oh, i was wondering if anyone had done their final round
but if you have any questions about the steps before that i'd be willing to share a bit
anyone know if vmware is willing to sponsor? job descriptions dont bring it up
I think it depends on the position that you apply to. Usually they do sponsorship for software engineer position
Has anyone gotten an email from twilit for a final round for the Twilio’s Customer Data Platform Team??
I rejected a final interview last December so this one came out of nowhere
cool thanks for the info
i have a karat interview
does anyone know anything about SeekOut karat interview by chance?
It includes two system design and two coding questions within 1 hour.
did you get an offer by chance?
No
ahh bet was it mostly LC mediums?
Hey guys I need some opinions. Would you rather take a Kleiner Perkins Fellowship offer for new grad or a return offer from Google new grad? Keep in mind that I would want to eventually start a startup down the line in a couple years. Happy I have both options but just not sure which one to choose.
You never could go wrong with Google...
I’m concerned with the networking aspect of KP Fellowship. I would be working for Stripe and I’ll be doing a lot more interesting things for them than say Google. I would really only choose Google for the pay but I don’t see myself working for Google for like 5+ years
Like the networking of the Fellowship is insane
Stripe doesn’t match google?
I’m always scared to negotiate offers lol. Anyone have any good resources for this?

anybody know how forwarding a referral works in big tech companies? do you just have to ask for it and the employee talks to the recruiter?
Always get referral first
If you apply first they sometimes won’t be able to refer you since at that point you’ll already be in the pipeline
gotcha thanks for the info ❤️
I didn't ask for my referrals but what I was told is that for some companies the employees talk to the hiring manager then the hiring manager tell the recruiters
Not sure .... I guess it depends on the job?
Is this actually true? At least my referrers were never prevented from referring if I had already applied.
I often apply first when my referrers take time to get back to me.
I have a 15 min chat with AWS recruiter on Monday about the result of my onsite but don't know what the result is though. Do they also ask people who got rejected to schedule chats as well??
I mean I’m sure it’s company dependent but some internal systems don’t permit this, others do, etc.
If you apply first and then wait for your referrers to get back you incur that small risk
I think the normal case for referrals is that someone refers you and they will reach out to you and tell you to apply
by they I mean the recruiter
Anyone know how the McDonald's software ii interview be like!?
Is anyone interviewing at cockroach labs for new grad?

isn’t that kinda every SD
Okay a better question
How in depth are new grad system design interviews in general
is it a good idea to code in tests for the 'Constraints' on leet code to prep for covering edge cases?

wow csmajors sure do a lot of praying

Normally how long is the deadline to accept a new grad offer?
reddit gave me less than a week
FASTER THAN 100% SORTING IN O(1) TIME AND SPACE
Very easy and simple solution
Please congratulate me on my first codesignal score > 800
That’s actually pretty impressive. Congrats
I have text iq codesignal to do and I hate it with passion

does anyone know anything about text iq
mine was same, except i also had an easy. also moved onto the next round even tho i'm p sure i only passed like half the test cases on the hard lol
damn that's rough
Could someone please shed some light on the process (how many rounds and what to expect) for the new grad software engineer role at Microsoft? Also, did anyone go through the process recently / are they still doing interviews ? Thanks! 🙂
anyone know why two interviewers would be listed for an onsite when during the actual onsite slot there was only one person
like 12:00PM- 1PM with two ppl but only one is there
Was one of them watching the others screen or something?
anyone gave hackerrank codepair interview for McDonald's ?
what will be the difficulty of the questions?
Thanks!!

Anyone attended Pure Storage technical video interview?

Please god give me Cockroach Labs 🙏
Please cockroach labs give me cockroach labs
Please hiring manager give me cockroach labs
please interviewer give me cockroach labs
please karma give me cockroach labs
please fate give me cockroach labs

please w,m,c,j,n give me cockroach labs
please turn me into a GOAT on March 10th 11 AM

how long after interview did you hear back? sorry for all the questions

damn i dont wish such down baddery on nobody
What does it mean if a company has closed a position to all applicants?
like on angellist and linkedin and their website
and im on the final round
probably that they're satisfied w the pool of applicants currently in the process
or do it mean that they are done hiring
I hope so
🤔🤔 🤔 🤔
I mean i hope they arent done hiring
Its weird if they closed it
cause i literally havent heard of anyone with cockroach interview
how yall feeling about that new drizzy drake?
Mid
they had a position open but the link no longer works so i guess they filled it
Anyone who's given the onsite for TuSimple's ML Engineer - ML Platform position??
hope everyone gets their dream roles

Anyone know if applying to microsoft’s new grad role puts you in consideration for xbox studios?

I pray for the next interview next week
I pray for the leetcode god giving a question within my ability
I pray for the BigO god not messing up with my solution

praying for all the amazon meme round winners to not get kicked out via pip lol
30 minute meme round *
did they stop handing out meme rounds because recently everyone here’s been to 3 rounds 😂
but getting the meme round was my ultimate dream and I failed
i have been summoned
Not sure about that. Maybe the engineers there just got free to spend more time interviewing
I am happy to announce that
I solved the same problem twice .. once in the assessment and once in the meme round
Thanks to my family who supported me in this
more free time or the quota for NG hirings for current season is almost full so now they can afford to interview everyone rigorously

Is it good for a recruiter to say let's talk about your results from the interview and possible next steps ?

if you get past the phone screen, what stage of the interview process do yall think most people get rejected at?

Is pip common among NGs who joined through meme round?
what companies are hiring now?
I would say so yeah
Theres no "next" steps if you're rejected
@woven quartz I really hope so. I've never been this far in the process in big tech .
Ngl people are kinda overdoing this daily prayer thing
Just tryna read the messages and it’s a bunch of Pepe praying emojis
Lmaoo
I mean after so many rejections either after zero interview or one interview. It is really refreshing to get this far. I am hoping for the positive result tomorrow, but I guess prepared for the worst. Do they try to negotiate at this point ?
Well I've already hit a final interview for this team at Oracle.
Omg I don't even know how to negotiate..lol
I don't really have another offer in big tech.
L2 is where I am at .
Well I hope it is an offer tomorrow
Which guy ?
Username ?
Oooh yeah I've seen him
It will be interesting to see what my recruiter will say tomorrow. It is either offer/negotiation, or we want to find you another position to interview
But I guess I should be prepared for negotiation
Thanks for your advice. I just dmed you
Congrats! which role?
Ic2. We will see if its a congrats tomorrow or not.
It could be a we need to find another role or something
good luck
“next steps” does imply that you’re not rejected
but you never know with the recruiters
my HRT phone interview email was inside "Promotions" tab in gmail since past 9 days WTF
🇫
how do i explain it to recruiter that I didnt schedule yet because of this?
Fuck gmail
just tell them that you were looking under spam and regular inbox
no one expects it to be under promotions lol
tbh if a recruiter mentioned potential next steps then told me i was rejected i'd be hella mad lmao
I was so drained from my Amazon interview that I had to step away from LC for few days

it’s tough to regroup if you dont have other interviews lined up
word, been there. it blows, i was down in the dumps for at least like 2 weeks
just gotta keep applying and keep leetcoding i guess
should i practice any DP hards.................. im so tired of doing LC but also i've been getting alot of DP questions for interviews somehow. I just dont know if its worth doing the hard ones as well as the meds and easies
I started creating anki decks with my LC problems.
I put the question in the front and all the details on the back.
But I use typed cloze deletion to fill in the blanks of what the step by step process should be.
It’s really helping with noticing more patterns.
Just gotta make sure to bridge the gap between memorization and synthesis
What kind of things do you talk about with an engineering manager during an onsite
standard culture questions, goals, motivations, interests, etc.
Any good resources articles you've come across?
just did twitter OA, passed 10/12 and 7/12 test cases. Will i get an interview or not likely?
Early career 2021?
yes brother
J don't think so anyone has heard back from them
let us all email them to work faster lol
Passed all test cases. :(
no update till date.
can you withdraw your applications so I might get a chance? 😂😂
😂😂😂😂 Unfortunately, Twitter recruitment is quite bad this year.
company coldcalled me asking to chat about a role and then sent me a link to take a one way prerecorded interview... is this normal??
Company name?
ambassador labs
is DP common for new grad interviews?
!process cvs OA
You can only use this command in #2021_grad_process or #2021_intern_process
how long does it take to hear back from bloomberg after phone screen?
jfc lol
I'd say mine have been like 80% dp as well. Probably why I don't have job yet lmao
Is it OA that have a lot of DP or all technical rounds
I havent had a real DP yet ever even on OAs
I think people may be mistaken recursion for DP or even recursion with Memo
pip install New Grad Amazon SDE (30 minute superhero)
Damn, just did twitter and roblox oa, so many DP
I havent seen a linkedlist question yet
recursion with memo is dp
DP or just recursion with memoisation?
Technically, but it's much easier. I consider real DP the bottom up one where you need to think of a bottom-up relation between cells. Like Knapsack for eg.
Anyone here who gave Akuna's Python Hackerrank? The one that's for 140 minutes?
Any tips on what to go over before attempting Roblox OA?
Look over coming DP patterns I guess
just go over leetcode roblox , i gave it today i had paint ceiling, boats to save people and remove duplicate adjacent strings
Roblox is still hiring?
They took 3 months to give me a decision and ended up losing my application
and then ended up telling me they are full
Thank you so much!!
RIP
Any tips on bloomberg phone interview?
Has anyone interviewed with text iq ?
Do Bloomberg tagged questions
Exactly what happened to me lmao
any advice on Twilio final round?
@rancid gull yeah they are a joke anyways
Wouldn't work there after that recruiting process
Recruiter called me and apologized for the process
@orchid ibex is that you in your profile picture
Yeah it's me
Give me a referral
A well paying joke nonetheless
Curious that what you are even doing in memorization right
People who have got better.com final interview , how are you guys preparing for it? are there any preferred links for technical round to practice ?
i have a feeling ppl who also have the final round might not be willing to share info if they are competing with each other
at the same time
Yeo anyone tel me@
Why recruiters look at ur profile
Before rejecting u
I’ve never had one case for a recruiter had viewed my LinkedIn an it’s ended well
Does anyone have experience interviewing with FIS for software engineer?
Pls zucc can you chill with the community standards?
Half of my shitposting groups are gone
Anyone has the contact info of Goldman Sachs's recruiter? I scheduled the interview last week using their icims system and haven't heard back from anyone since then. If anyone happens to have the contact info of Goldman's recruiter I would appreciate.
Deng feeling kinda behind, im bout to wrap up my BS in computer science this spring, and i've been doing that in parallel at a SWE job (got really lucky the team i interned with liked me) for the past two years, but now I'm realizing its a dead end company, not much innovation in the software side of things, and am just beginning the new grad application process.
Anyone has given text iq codesignal?
Anyone interviewing for cockroach labs final round new grad?
Me
considering they were allowed to do part time with BS, probs some small local company
I work for a pretty massive health device company, the work I do is interesting, but since it’s in the healthcare space it’s a, v e r y slow process to get features deployed and on production due to regulations and politics
And to be clear, I'm very fortunate to be employed, especially considering the state of the world atm, but the pay rate for SWE at this company is also p non-competitive
Anyone recently interviewed with nisc?
which role?
how was the OA?
Easy
same as me then
Im planning on doing it tomorrow

somebody tell me if Text Iq is a good company so I can take the OA seriously
ye
What are your guys's final round offer to reject ratio?
like pass-fail?
Yes
4-6
nah a shitty mid sized company rejected me
15
Cap
they say 25 is enough for google step, so im aiming for that
Oh shit i heard that too
25 what
literally read two lines above lol
dont do it tbh
what were the questions like? I don’t have a good experience with codesignal
as for the bar, I can use any job I can get and they do AI stuff which will look good on the resume
this girl i know got in with with 25 LC solved. It is what it is
Anyone have experience with IMC 1st round interview (2 hours)? I heard it was reading a problem statement, designing the solution, and coding it up. Any insight would be great!
Anyone had GS coderpad interview?

@ember berry are there any new grad positions for text iq open?

I don't see any. The one I got an OA for is not NG
Any tips for my upcoming Auth0 phone interview?
Any tips for my upcoming Microsoft 30 mins phone screen?

It was basically talking about your experience and typical behavioral questions.

bruh LC hard????? damn
i'm convinced ppl here only read the most recent 2 messages and are literally unable to look above for some reason
anyone do the discovery new grad final? Its weird it went from hirevue to just final
Just wish I could get their damn OA
I read 25 LC it still didn't make sense to me. Solving 25 LC in total to get into Google didn't seem right. Thought it might have been 25/week.
it was super easy the hirevue has no coding just 4-5 behavioral and then 20 multiple choice(techical) on ds and a. still hate hirevue's platform
mine is in 1 hour lol
Well I can get the majority of mediums, but easy's still stump me sometimes. Good to always mix it up.
yeah house robber used to be an easy
I’ve talked to multiple on here who’ve done less than 25 LeetCodes and got into big name companies. One person in this discord told me they’ve only done 10 LC and got a new grad position with Roblox and another person told me they did 5 LC and secured an internship with Pinterest. It just varies for everyone and the # of LC isn’t really a good indicator of someone’s programming skill
really? mine is 3 interviews each 30mins, 2 code pads
oops i misread lol
yeah I mean I've done an internship and worked for a year having done literally 0 LC in preparation.
And I know people who've done 350 LC but still screw up on interview day. That's why I'm skeptical of the whole grind LC everyday mantra.
good luck bro!!! you got this!
I mean more is probably better than less, but it probably has increasingly low returns after a point
for codesignal i can just re-share a score from previous test if another company asks for one?
Oh yeah totally. I think there needs to be a whole discourse in the CS community about “hustle culture” in general
tech interviews are just like tests, some people do good on them without studying, some people cram for days and still fail
interviews need to be more OOD and System Design than the LC problems
the time I spent on LC, could've easily learned other skills that will actually be useful in a job
Well one of my friends who got an offer from AirBnB new grad last year told me he didn’t get one LC question. It was a full stack take home project he had 2 days to complete which he said was easy. The final interview was just adding additional features to the project
AirBnB is known for having easy interviews tho
Maybe for intern but not for new grad I guess
lc just provides u tools to put in ur mental toolbox (like cs courses do)
for ppl who struggle with that, they have to do lots of LC to turn technical interviews into a pattern matching game
Yeah LC is just mainly pattern matching but after you have 3+ years of experience the interviews are more tailored towards system design than LeetCode. You’ll still have to do a LC round but it’ll be more system design rounds
this is def not a normal process
I think at that point they will put more emphasis on SD round but from what I see on LC, FAANG interviews still ask LC problems heavily
interviews are a crap shoot anyways, you can do 400+ LC problems but still might get the one you have no clue about
this is why for LC, its better to master each topic rather than specific problems, then it's only a matter of formulating the problem according to some topic
@undone abyss did you apply to discovery right when the app opened? I didn't see it until about two weeks after... Wondering if I missed the boat
I applied last week of February!
Rip to me. I applied the 19th.. but nada. Haven't been outright rejected so there's still hope haha. Good luck on the final round!
Anyone here had to renge a return offer to a company you interned at? (I interned there and got a FT return offer which I signed, but I managed to get a better one)
if a recruiter calls me after final round and asks multiple "if we were to extend an offer, ....." questions, what does that mean? lol
Yeah DM me
what kind of questions are they asking?
start date, relocation, excitement, stuff like that
Sounds like they think you got it, maybe it's late in the cycle and they want to get stuff ready before the offer is extended?
@rancid gull what company is it
chewy
Alternative they like multiple people and are trying to see which one gives them the answers they like (start sooner, less relocation, etc)
But I doubt it if those are the questions they are asking
thx! guess i'll just wait lol
she said she'd get back to me by the end of the day so we'll see
oh she might want to write the start date in the offer letter
Sounds like good stuff to me
Has anyone heard back from Walmart recently?
Kinda hard to read messages when the chat is flooded with pepe praying emojis
Has anyone successfully reneged an offer after accepting it because they got a better offer
There is no problem in doing it.
Yeah I was but my recruiter finally replied to me this morning. I guess they were all busy or occupied. Try sending them email on 9am EST or something
Has anyone done a technical ML engineer interview here?
@sacred tide
I’m doing it with my current intern conversion
Got a FT conversion in November but got an offer for double the money in February. No brained to me
Just be prepared to never work there again
How do you even ask? I accepted the offer in September 2020 (start date august 2021)
how do you even ask though lol
Well you aren't asking, you're telling them
Hey I got my dream firm and I know this offer is at will so could you please kindly not consider me for the I offered at you firm. If they really want you they could offer you more. If you say something like - "Hey I got another offer and that is paying more and considering my current financial pressure I'm looking for a good package"
I wouldn't say it like that, "could you please turn down my offer" they don't have a gun to your head or anything, you are free to reject them at any point in time like they can reject you
hmmmm
this sounds like turning down the offer though
^^^^
But i wanna ask for more money hehe
If it was the other way around you’d be laid off on the drop of a hat
i dont feel bad about declining at all lol i just wanna ask for more money
just dont know how after already accepting months ago
Lol I would not try and get a counter offer from your current offer
@azure gull employment is at will. You don’t need permission to quit lmao

I’m not asking how I can quit I’m asking how I can renege the offer to see if they’ll match my best offer
My original question was if anyone has successfully reneged and how they did it, idk how we’ve spiraled into whether I can quit a job or not 😂
Why do I feel you think renege means renegotiate
Renege means to go back on, so yes you were asking how to quit
^
If I accept the offer and sign the contract then ask for more money later on is that not considered reneging
Lmao
Or OA, still can’t find one definition
Lmfao
I signed the contract
And now I’m going back on it by asking for more money
Isn’t that a renege
This was chaotic lol
I spent a few years in the navy before going to school, can I use some of those stories for STAR responses or should I stick to cs related stuff?
When recruiters (direct company recruiter) ask for passport copy, should you be censoring the passport number and other info? or does it not matter?
mm this is for IMC so i dont think they're dodgy but just wondering if i should censor my passport number
whats imc
oh the company
I dont think you should censor it
Don’t do this. It’s literally worse to do this then to sign for more money at your current position. They already know you have a foot out the door and they’ll exploit that till they force you out. The only way to get more money in this industry is to job hop
Your manager will know that you’ve got your eyes set on greener pastures from the moment you try and renegotiate. Easier for them to just fire you and find someone who will do the job cheaper
I mean ymmv but every time I’ve gotten a job offer I’ve left my current position. I’m not just leaving for the money. I’m jumping ship for a new corporate culture, new manager, etc
dumb question but how do you answer the question "why do you want to work here" if it isn't a product you've actively used or have another compelling reason to want to work there (aka i spam applied and didn't expect to hear back 😂 )?
just try to bs about how the job duties are what you’re looking for exactly
and their tech stack if different from the current position
Is it okay if I ask you recruiter on LinkedIn about a status update on my application?
Why not just email them
I don't have their email. I only have them as a connection.
Any one with Google OA
u got google OA? damn
No, I did not received one yet. But I curious how the OA looks like if anyone here received it
@sick hazel
hope we're not gonna be like the guy from your name when you see the questions 😆
But I hope to be a person with your name 😈
you definitely will brother .. just a matter of months
or days
Anyone took the Uber Technical interview?
Anyone took video onsite with Galatea Associates?
has anyone given tesla OA ?
They was just asking. I think most people havent gotten response yet.
I think you might be misunderstanding my situation. I got an offer from company A (start date Summer 2021) and accepted. Then got an offer from company B that pays more (start date summer 2021). I was wondering how I can go about asking company A for more money, if company A doesn’t offer more I’m just gonna decline. I haven’t actually started working at either company yet
Dang it lol
renegotiation works if you haven’t accepted the offer yet
Yeah that's the only time it works tbh
now even if they give you same or more money, they will remember
and you don’t wanna work with that incident before your day one
So if you're a flight risk no one is going to try and invest into your career development
it’s like you should never stay at a company that gives you a raise only after you got another offer
because the relationship at that point has already soured even though both parties pretend for a while
Great way to get PIPed
yeah fr. just give them a generic reason so not to burn any bridges
better way is to leave, then return a year or two after for a higher positioned job kek
at the end of the day its just business, no need to feel bad or anything
Yeah this is the way
Makes sense, thanks yalll @stone monolith @ember berry @clear zenith
good luck, and more importantly, congratulations
Thank you!!! Same to you
@solid sleet bro change ur name i keep searching it whenever i do from:someonesusername !process offer
All my homies hate taleo!process offer
Lmao that's funny af
why do people have farmer in front of their names?
what does it mean
Do you guys recommend taking adderall and benzos right before an interview 🧐
ritalin?
what about drinking?
even better
Do you guys think that if i mention the database that the company is developing and use that as the data storage during my system design i will get brownie points?
or will they think im kissing shit
Hi guys , by any chance anyone have a sheet/table of company recruitment status for 2021 new grad?
if you do it well/impress them it might be good? but i mean everyone knows that part of recruiting is kissing ass
okay im just prayuing tomorrow i dont get a leetcode hard
if i dont i should be ok
even an LC medium tbh
im kind of trash at some of them
just do 2sum a couple times right before to warm up
This exists. I might have it bookmarked on my pc

no problem bud
maybe dumb question, but how should i be interpreting this? Is this just tracking the results of cscareer community applicants?
Essentially. I think the most important thing you can get from that spreadsheet is understanding whether companies have begun to give out offers/rejects yet
ahhh
Perhaps some insight into the company's interview process as well
For sure, thanks
Yeah dude no problem
would it be shooting myself in the foot if i wait to start applications after summer as a spring 2021 graduate? need this mental health break haha
i think it'd be best to start applying asap, since ppl will fill up open spots p quickly
deng
not saying you won't be able to find anything but usually by then companies will have started recruiting for 2022 new grads
how often do new grads get asked LC hards during interviews?
Yeah why do folks put farmer in their name?
its honest work
plus, it aint much
amen
Has anyone done Rivian HackerRank?
why not tho
Bruh
I got two emails at the same time from Akamai. One telling me I've been rejected, another asking me to schedule a phone screen
Damn congrats all Roblox peeps your stock popped TF off today 🥳
when she gives you mixed signals
i’m graduating December 2021, and just started applying for new grad roles. do they generally start right after you graduate? or do all new grad jobs start on the same date like internships
It depends on the company to be honest. I know some that starts right after you graduate and others that start in the middle of the summer or at the end
Anyone knows of deloitte codility tests?
would it be dumb to be somewhat picky and cancel a final interview? I don't have anything in the bag and i'm sure i'd grow in that position but the tech stack/code is mainly just old tools and boring legacy type stuff
Up2u but if it was me id rather not have a job than work with that stuff. Ofc depends on how urgent u need a source of income.
Has anyone completed interview at Reputation.com ?
Please DM me
That's how I'm feeling. I don't absolutely need a job until about July/August and I have a small handful of early processes with companies rn that I'd much rather work for... Thanks, I guess I just wanted validation for cancelling lol
Is twitter still interviewing new grads? I see their early career swe link still online but I thought I saw messages saying they stopped
kinda in the same vein, if i interview during the 2022 new grad hiring season wanting to start immediately is that plausible? i graduated fall 2021, mostly would be shooting for larger companies
yes, this has been asked multiple times
my bad sorry i haven't seen the replies when it was and just recently joined
Has anyone heard back from Zoom?
I got resume rejected from Zoom lol
Has anyone completed HRT phone interview 2nd round?
Back in Jan I think lol
Has anyone interviewed with Better.com? 👀
Ah i thought those were the new grad roles
Probably why I got rejected lol
Anyone got advice for robinhood karat?
Does everyone get the google new grad snapshot OA? And what should I expect???
I think they resume screen then give one, haven't gotten one yet.
Does a reject from Amazon disqualify me from other Amazon roles?
No you can apply for other ones
Siiiiiick. Ty!

🙏

anyone else still waiting to hear back from walmart after first round?

Has anyone taken CVS health/Aetna Data Scientist new grad hirevue?

my first prayer

Because it's google and they do whatever they want
they've finalized most return intern offers and placements
Not really. From one, they have to make head counts to see how many spots available they have
And, because it's google they know they will have candidates to fill out those spots
Irrespective that it is late in the new grad process
whats the avg application : offer rate
i heard someone who did 10 applications and got 9 offers
Bruh mines like 150:2
Mine may end up being like 700:2
idk pretty irrelevant data and best not to be comparative with recruitment anywho

which role did you apply for walmart and was the first round OA or interview?
Has anyone taken intuit karat assessment?
ok thanks
has anyone interviewed with twitter recently?
Has anyone gotten to the final round at Discovery Channel? I got my final in a couple of days and was hoping to learn the topics they may ask.
Is it a good idea to send a follow up email to recruiter after a final round to thank them or something?

couldn't hurt
This is for algo right?

how long did it take to hear back? i applied not too long ago but i havent heard anything
Applied Feb 15, got a HireVue Feb 19, got my final interview availability request Feb 26
How much of a red flag is this lmao
But bring your dog to work tho?
What if u want to bring ur cat
For a progressive company its rather animalist
i guess $10 a day for food is not a whole lot
hows that a red flag
depends on the location tbh
bringing your dog to work is honestly pretty lit tho
which role did you apply for? Is it new grad?
new grad swe, but i think the process is very similar with interns according to reddit
okay, thank you !
That's not the issue per se, more like the fact that this is one of their major benefits that they are advertising. Seems like perhaps not much else is good about working there. That's how I interpreted it. Don't most tech places provide food afaik?
But the rest of the job post seemed kinda sketchy too so I see why it might seem reasonable on its own.
most places definitely dont have a kitchen in the office, people are attracted to food stipends/free food so it makes sense for them to advertise
