i used to work at Epic Systems ... i see a bunch of you applying there, so a few words about my experience. i wasn't a software developer, i was in technical services for the emergency department app.
(1) campus is beautiful and quirky and massive and is a minor tourist attraction in the area (you can spend an entire morning touring). everyone either has their own office or is paired up with an officemate.
(2) food is cheap, was at chef quality four years ago but declined a little in quality over the years. still very good though.
(3) 45 hours a week minimum, or else your team lead would ask you to take on more stuff. you log your time in 15-min increments - bane of everyone's existence. salary starts very high for the area and raises are ridiculously good for the first few years.
(4) Madison, WI is a wonderful progressive city, though obviously very cold for six months of the year. Epic has underground parking. you must live within 45 min of campus, pretty much no remote work allowed (i think when i left they allowed 1 day a month).
(5) ceo Judy is old school self-made and believes in hard work and doing everything possible to make customers happy; extremely pervasive "not invented here" syndrome. Look up Epic v Lewis Supreme Court decision in favor of Epic's enforcing the arbitration clause.
(6) median tenure is 3.5 years. some people felt the monthly Staff Meeting allhands in our very own 11000-seat auditorium is too cultish.
(7) if you're on a clinical app, prepare to be asked to do 12-hour shifts at hospital customer golives (some of which may be graveyard shifts) and only one recovery day is awarded for two weekend shifts.
(8) as a technical services engineer i generally learned a lot of soft skills / working with customers and saying things to make them happy, but software engineering feels backward and nontransferable (not agile or anything).
(9) the stack is InterSystems Cache written in a language called Mumps from the 1970s, and some C#/TypeScript for the frontend. it took until 2017 or so for their migration from Visual Basic 6 to kick into gear. all frameworks area developed in-house.

Yea career progression and quality of engineering work varies wildly depending on what team you're on. Some people might get unlucky and be put on a team in trading systems where they're working with tons of proprietary stuff and that's not good for career progression. Others might get placed in software infrastructure working with cutting edge stuff (as an example the data science platform team heavily uses go, k8s, spark, and TF), which is great and fun. And then there's most teams which are somewhere between the two ends of the spectrum. TC progression is not as good as other top tech (caps out at 300k for ICs) though comp is all cash, but career progression can be fine if you're not the type to get fixated on titles (BB only has SWE ans Senior SWE titles, and senior just means anyone with >2 yoe).
Just saying it's a lot more nuanced than the company being "meh"

It's saying I have 2-3 years of experience, which I think is due to my TA job which I had for 3 years:
If I change it to "Jan - May 2020", it then parses correctly and says I'm entry-level
Is it worth downleveling my TA job date range, for the off-chance that it might help me get through any ATS filters for entry-level positions? I feel like this was low key fucking me since it parsed my resume as 3 years of exp. and filtered me out for new grad/entry level roles
