normally more senior roles might be "data engineer"

sometimes ML positions will be ML Engineer but ive seen ML positions fall under SWE too

helps if you do research in the company or ask them what roles/teams a SWE can be on

at my last company I interned at it had a small dev team so all the SWEs did Full stack + Data Engineering + ML + DevOps, basically whatever needed to get done for that sprint. Some people did more of X tasks then others but they were all called SWEs

Hi all,

I recently graduated from college and would be joining a company on East Cost as a Software Engineer. I went to liberal arts college and their CS program was not very strong and I realized this during my sophomore year.

Due to which, I started my learning out of the classes. I started taking random online courses, wrote basic scripts and developed some projects on my own. The entire experience definitely made me a better Software Engineer. During my senior year, I started interview practice (although I was a bit late to this) I spent a good amount of time on interview practice/networking for referrals/resume-building and what not. Eventually I got into a company during the entire COVID-19 situation. I am really excited to start soon!

However, I believe I learnt a lot through hit & trial and gained few mentors during my journey. I genuinely feel that I should help other fellow engineers who might be struggling. I am not an expert at any of this; however, I might have a bit more experience compared to a junior/senior in college as I recently went through the pain of all that.

Any college student who might need help with interview practice, resume-reviewing, figuring out out-of-class-projects or anything related to CS classes.

I am thinking of doing bi-monthly 1-on-1s (open to doing less/more) and help with anything the person might need including but not limited to mock-interviews, resume-reviewing, interview-practice and etc.

Hey guys. I wanted your opinions on something.
I'm working on a project that I was hoping to put on my resume before I start applying for full time opportunities for 2021. I'm estimating that I'd be done with it by mid July +/- a week.
If I do wait until mid July to apply to Facebook or other opportunities that arise now, will I be at a disadvantage? Do you suggest I apply now and be one of the first to apply?

If you’re going to volunteer your technical abilities, I would do it for social good (plenty of non-profits and small businesses need help rn). I’m not providing free labor for a startup that’s not going to last a year and could afford to pay for an employee.
