• At a startup, you will have more personal growth and develop stronger product sense. You'll learn what you're capable of, what you're really good at, and what you suck at. Although you might not develop best practices in terms of actual software dev, you'll learn a ton about yourself and understand how you can have a more fulfilling career.
• At a big tech company, you'll have better career growth in a sort of artificial sense. You'll learn best practices, which are applicable at any company, and you'll learn how to turn project requirements into a finished product. You'll learn how to work with many stakeholders, and will probably also learn to maneuver office politics. This is all better if you wanna maximize your compensation, since these are skills valued by the big/hot companies that pay handsomely. But it might be less fulfilling career wise since you're generally out of touch with the actual users of your product.
