or idk it sucks but if one does respond thats kind of poggies
could they increase your chances at all?
some shitty companies im applying to require them
usually the good companies dont require em
if theyre shitty just bs a cover letter lol
like if you write a cover letter about why you're passionate about cs and why you love this company?
na no one reads them
yeah man thats the goal
greenhouse usually lets you include them
i dont include unless required
^
will a page about why youre so passionate about cs increase your chances of getting an interview?
so is it likely that they dont even read it?
ur cover letter is just ur resume + some dick riding
ever since i was 3 years old, i've been fascinated by the interworkings of payment systems, which is why stripe is so appealing to me. i would love to join a community where i will be responsible for crafting the future of online payments.
this
yeah
will doing this help?
its not worth it
so why do they even ask for it then?
They dont ask
i mean make it optional
talked with like a guy that does interviews for riot and he str78 up said put that you play games, nothing from resume. they jus want ppl that ghame. ima put i hagve 1k hrs in league
ok ur misunderstanding it
if its not required they wont read it
if its required theyll read it
i started in march of 2020 cuz pandemic
not really top
itll be a funny joke kinda thing
they jus want ppl that game
Many job app forms also have the cover letter submission built in. Probably carried over from a template
like put t on your resume
"By the way, I'm diamond 1"
this credit karma job requires a cover letter so i gotta write one
Just because anchovies are an optional topping on pizza doesnt mean u should order them
like for riot, could being a huge league player help?
im bronze 1 50 lp rn
credit karma doesnt require a cover letter
put it on your resume
make it super obvious
will they care?
i mean, that's real commitment
now thats aids
wait so how did i apply
reddit was like that too for internship iirc

idk man
str8 to the recycle bin
i cold emailed my way into a reddit interview
yeah
wait no i did write one
i idnt even apply
i wrote something super stupid
im going to talk about my passion for the intersection between finance and engineering
lmao
just did it cuz someone else did it on linkein
reddit cant even have functional modern ui smh idk what's going on there
i mean, cover letters provide you a chance to redeem yourself
i mean, like college essays matter a lot
thats different
that a well-written cover letter could make up for a lack of faang or target
i am down so fucking bad in terms of offers
most recruiters will spend 6 seconds on your resume and dip
why do they hate freshmen so much
@still gazelle cus they know ur gonna leave lool
the purpose of internships is to convert you to full time
most companies convert well over half of interns to full time
otherwise, it's a loss for the company
the company loses money on u if u dont convert
so, that's the only purpose of internships
they have no reason to take freshman
i mean it's not like a random recruiter genuinely cares about what's best for the company u just gotta recruit different as a freshman
startups might be a good option
good luck man
i applied to the ycombinator ones
they follow guidelines
its not the recruiters choice
its the companys managements choice
like im literally willing to do 15/hr internships
ceos philosophy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> random recruiters opinion of you
its not like im asking for $45/hr
have you heard back from any y combinator?
just apply to everything u can
i just applied yesterday
@still gazelle cold email
ull get something
this can work
ah i see
the farthest ive gone in the process was with two sigma
have you cold emailed yet?
honestly, i think research might be my best option
bitch just get two sigma then
im trying bro im leetcoding like a fiend
also, ill just say this bluntly, but lie about ur grad date
go hard bro
alex won't they find out?
probably not
@still gazelle when I was a freshman, I got my offer in March. Don't give up!
they're not hard rules you'll find that you can break them or make the recruiter overlook them if you give them a reason. It's the same way how some high schoolers get internships at companies that don't have public hs intern initiatives.
i mean, u can graduate early
for a freshman this is really good already keep it up
whered u get it at?
It was a small local SaaS company
90% of the time, it's connections
thanks man im tryna go into quant finance so i gonna grind
family connections
local companies FTW man
nearly all high school internships are due to family connections
dont feel bad
or outreach programs
and there are those who cold email
if you can do most mediums you got a good shot at quant finance especially junior year
Kumquat how did you apply? did you cold email?
i havent even taken ds&a yet
but like i always say, don't generalize internships
i think after ds&a ill be able to do most mediums some hards
yeah ull be op af
I did cold apply, and it was literally the only company that got back to me lol
@still gazelle there are literally millions of companies out there and tehre is definitelyo at least one that will take u on
yeah man
@junior elk yes, cold email
i know my worth
cold email is the best way to get ur name out there
i just need to get past the resume screening and the freshman stigma
for startups or even big companies, cold emailing engineers and ceos can work
u can bypass recruiters
Yeah i need to start, ive been putting it off for a while
but u must email a lot
i think im gonna start cold emailing next month for local companies
i had a f500 freshman year just from applying on indeed and glassdoor
it's nowhere near too late
got offer around march/april
look, i didn't even start applying to winter internships till this month!
i have final round interviews already
albeit with startups
@abstract wagon ur making me feel so much better bro š thank u
i cold emailed thousands
literally thousands
500 emails a day
as i say
it's seriously the best strategy
what f500 @abstract wagon
For the ycombinator startups u all applied to, is it for fall 2021?
if you cold email thousands, ur gonna get a lot of rejection
yea bro i respect the grind. i did a lot of lc my freshman and soph year and i think thats a huge factor in how i got kinda far
but there is likely someone who will take u
target lol
the <1% success rate strategy lol
it's usually flexible
most summer 2021 some fall 2021
not bad man!!!
who do you email at a company? Managers? engineers? Recruiters? the ceo?
i got two random f500's in march the past two years
they'll usually let u start at anytime
yeah i was blessed considering i didnt have much exp
thats fuckin sick man
if you're still looking for an internship
yeah f500s recruit quite late
i am willing to take anything paid
when we talk about recruiting a year before, it's a very few select companies
i've had companies reach out to me for interviews as late as april
i see
if its paid, you're guaranteed to make at least $7.25 an hour
you will 100% find something, a lot of smaller companies don't start recruiting until feb
so far better than 0
this
great
if you
for smaller companies
if youre persistent enough, theres always something
im willing to cold email the engineers
ive sent like 40 applications in the past week. i check for new jobs every day man
im literally obsessed
@junior elk for smaller companies and even f500s, email engineers first
for very early stage companies, email the founders
When you email do you ask for an internship or to work as contractor?
internship
usually say internship
be straight up
@still gazelle u have react & node knowledge? i might be able to connect u with a ceo of a nyc startup
be blunt
yes
and then negotiate pay later
ill dm u
here's the thing. there are 30 million registered companies in the us
that's a big number
out of them, there is definitely one that will say yes
just trying to deliver some hope
and f500's actually seem to have less structured internship recruiting processes than faang
since it's not a big focus of theirs
for them, cold emailing an engineer (ideally an alumni of ur school) and asking them to create an internship for u can work
these companies have big budgets
and lots of departments
additionally, starting this semester im doing natural language processing research
Another boost to the resume
these things, like internships and contract work are usually handled by like a regional manager
@still gazelle if u need help cold emailing, i'll give u unlimited free consulting
we will get you something good this summer
i promise
alr man preciate it!
and we will get you quant after ur junior year
i'll use whatever resources i have to help u
im worried cuz if i dont find smth im gonna be struggling to pay for basic shit next sem
and anyone else on this server
we're not even gonna think about that
we're gonna be optimistic
ill have to work 40hrs at smoothie king again
and find you something
yessir
how necessary is the money?
what year are you rn?
unpaid is a last resort
i know some ways to make even bigger money online, but they take time and aren't good if u need immediate money. it takes several months to start seeing results. i was gonna recommend affiliate marketing and freelance consulting, but it takes time to make money, but it's totally doable
an internship or job will provide u with immediate pay
and given that this is a rare skillset, i think u could negotiate a pretty fair rate
for a freelance developer, the standard rate is $50-100 per hour
i see
freelance might be an option
isn't freelance dev very saturated?
i've found some freelance gigs honestly by reaching out to a lot of businesses
like if you go on fiverr or upwork
it is, but that's why good marketing is essential
i don't recommend these sites
they're full of really low quality work
and ur gonna get ripped off
yeah but you gotta get experience somehow
like, $1 an hour is honestly the norm on there
@junior elk u a freshman?
yeah
very seriously if you keep applying and have skills you'll get some interviews before next summer
probably put in over 200 hours
u just gotta convert them from there
damn
yep, comes out to less than 5 cents an hour
basically upaid
and then the client pretty much fell off the face of the earth
was never able to get in contact with them again
thanks, im trying to build my skills with projects
one or two good side projects is more than enough
to demonstrate experience
puff i added u bro
but if anyone needs advice on this, just message me
i'm willing to provide unlimited free consulting
i have 385 unread dm's
ayy
@silk ridge lets work together to get argo ai
and i'm committed to answering them all
freshman gang
did having an internship help a lot for recruiting
most are just basic questions
bro the oa was so easy how are they gonna cut anyone after that
@obtuse otter i think it did personally
but i'm willing to provide long term help if necessary
@silk ridge i dont think that many people got invited tbf
i think most will be answered when you release that blog post lol
but my inbox is always open
@junior elk @still gazelle you will get good offers
i promise
it might take a few weeks
but what you're gonna do is start cold emailing companies. it's gonna take a lot of emails. but it's gonna happen
cold emailing is how i got startup funding
i literally emailed hundreds of angel investors
do you think i should leave my extracirrclurs on my resume when emailing?
@junior elk @still gazelle if you're gonna do unpaid though (last resort) maybe consider thoughtspot
out of all the angel investors i emailed, nearly 60% gave me a no
so there's a lot of rejection out there
but rejection is part of life
and don't let one rejection define you
or even hundreds
persistence is the key
there are 7 billion people out there with 7 billion new opportunities available. they're there
depends on the extracurricular
if it's something that shows leadership, then yes
or cs related
look, i don't like buzzwords, but companies do
bet
having leadership honestly will help you
Mostly robotics stuff from hs.
i think its good to have
But now im trying to learn the software side of robotics with ros
some companies specifically look for robotics ppl
yeah, i'd include it
still a plus
not freshman tho
mostly recent stuff
emphasizing robotics is what helped me get into a few robotics startups
and even get the amazon robotics recruiter to recognize me
I'm thinking i should make a seperate resume for robotics/embedded
as a freshman in college, you're not expected to have experience
so high school stuff is perfectly acceptable
yeah, i would do that
i have approximately 26 different resume templates
for different purposes
although admittedly many of them were for one time use
that's alot
like company specific
most were for one time use
like for specific programs
and i never planned to touch them again
i have created a few company specific resumes
for some companies this is advisable
like spotify
like so they pick up on keywords?
if your resume doesn't convey your passion for spotify, you're gonna get rejected
yes
for the most part
and also to change up the graphics a bit
One last question, how many people should i email from 1 company
Depends on the size of the company
If itās a really small startup just the founder
If itās a Fortune 500, at least 10
10 different engineers?
should i still contact recruiters or is it not worth it?
Not worth it
Recruiters are literally useless at this point
Actually contact engineering managers
They have hiring authority
Yeah recruiters are literally useless
They canāt create positions for u
Theyāre literally just human robots who read ur resume
but engineers do have authority?
Senior engineers should
Engineering managers ideally
Just look them up on LinkedIn
Not with cold emails
Theyāre useless if ur cold emailing for a role
^ agree
That doesnāt exist
Iām talking about applying for a role that doesnāt exist
No, I mean asking companies to create an internship for u
Asking recruiters to move u forward after applying is different
But Iām referring to a situation where thereās no publicly posted role
And ur asking them to create an internship for u
If you had a a choice between Walmart Labs and Citrix, which one would be better to intern at?
Like letās say a company doesnāt have internships posted on theyāre website
But they might still be open to it
like who
This has worked with startups
Lots of startups
I literally just cold emailed them about interning
bro weren't we talking about f500s
f500s will NOT make a new role for you
internship pro tip: search up "I'm excited to announce" on LinkedIn and look at the recruiters mentioned after the"I would like to thank" text. I've had succcess getting interviews by cold emailing some of the recruiters people have posted.
Engineering managers determine the needs for their team
Iām not saying itās a guarantee
But we shouldnāt dismiss it
It could potentially work
It really doesnāt hurt to try
wait lmfao i love this
Email hundreds, even thousands of engineers, and it could be done
Even midsize companies could create a role for you
has anyone done that for you
Midsize meaning like maybe a few hundred employees
which f500
Not f500
But a lot of startups
And I saw posts online about it
Let me link you
?
they will not
make
a
role
just
for
you
.
500 is a lot of companies
Even f2000 is still good
Even if 499 reject you, thatās still an offer
anyone doing the Shopify back-end challenge?
sorry dude you're being kind of obtuse
i dont think what im saying is getting through
Iām saying that we shouldnāt generalize
There are millions of companies out there
Cold emailing has to work at at least one
yeah but the question is if its worth our time
i think ur the one generalizing
we dont have infinite time to leetcode and cold email
Yes
It doesnāt hurt to try
It really doesnāt
I would at least try
Thereās nothing to lose
i think you should cold email if you really like the company/role
ur a smart kid i think you know what to do lol
Iāve dedicated entire days to cold emailing
I can send thousands in a single day
I canāt imagine any of us are that packed
Iām working on many startups and other things
I spend at least half my time fucking around
But stuff still gets done
Also create a bot
Like an auto sender
That just replaces the name
they've worked with bigger companies though?
Create a spreadsheet of companies
Create one tab where you specify why youāre interested in each specific company
For efficiency you can group them by categories
Like finance, consumer goods
And then use ur bot to replace names
what up noobs
And have it mass cold email
@simple saffron die
If we define a large company as any company with a valuation in excess of $100M, thatās a lot of companies and it definitely has worked
@simple saffron whats your success rate look like
when i send hot emails with feet pics i get blocked idk why
100%. i sent my granny a merry christmas email and she emailed me back
Literally over 65% of the companies I email for internships flat out reject or ghost me
greatest comment i've read on this discord
I still find things
Just being persistent is what helps
Iāve sent thousands upon thousands of cold emails
And Iāve still found opportunities
Can you give an example of an email you've sent?
alright cool
imagine the companies seeing the blog
imagine companies clicking resume links
āso he automated that email! i thoght he was genuinely interested in the position!ā
@low epoch i baited them into opening my gdoc resume
bro imagine posting a keylogger download in your resume
jebaited
then getting the passwords of the recruiter on their portal
then passing urself to the next round
top level strats
300IQ
wrinkly brain people here
I do this for the good of society
āhey mark whys that intern kid making 200 an hourā
can this go on random
All sorts of stuff
"this is chik fil a not hrt"
But hereās my basic recruiter email
Hi Recruiter,
My name is Alex, and I'm a CS student at [school]. I applied to [role name] back in [date] and I haven't heard back yet. I found your profile on LinkedIn and I figured you could be of help. Iām currently interviewing at at [...] and have an offer to work at [small hedge fund Iām interning at] and I would love to have an opportunity to be considered for the position at [company] as the recruiting season is coming to an end soon. Attached is my resume for your consideration!
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Alex
@still gazelle @junior elk
Also, check out startups.jobs
There are over 1000 internships on there
And use angellist!
if the recruiter said i got offered for SWE intern role but this is the "Official" title in worksday. Can i still put swe intern on resume
@tacit halo Thanks Alex
yes
i think you can ask them @pliant hawk normally its fine but i like to be sure
congrats!
ty guys
& yea congrats
CONGRATS!!
rejection gang no mo
bibbzz

No problem
LFGGGGG
I hat company is this?
Congratulations
ty
Wait, arenāt things gonna be remote?
yooo hf, i heard good things
I really cannot imagine much being in person
cali gotta pump those numbers UP so we can be in person
If outdoor dining is against the law here
yeah i want to be in person, just aint the same otherwise
they're not giving me housing, just some reduced price options that are covered with my sign on bonus (if i have 1 roommate)
maybe ull see mr emote or boba in person
well i guess that means "covered housing" idk

Never understood the purpose of housing stipends.
Internship pay is already more than the vast majority of families make
some of us have college debt
that we have to pay off
not all of us have money to donate
No, I mean the internship salary should be more than enough to cover housing and living expenses
And sent
*debt
Most jobs in the real world donāt provide housing stipends
People pay off their debt over time
Most people would be thrilled to make $15 an hour
yes, any and all pay should be more than enough to cover housing for all people
but that is not the world we live in
thatās why tech is so lucrative
Full time doesnāt offer housing stipends
i mean some people volunteer at hospitals
they don't make any money so we shouldnt either right?
Itās like interns have it better than full time
they make enough to not need it
Um what
Why doesnāt full time offer a housing stipend?
well, we're talking about internships; i would imagine most non-tech internships provide housing if the company's big
?????
u get relo
Since if ur full time less of ur money is saved
same
If ur an intern u can easily save half ur pay
But donāt interns get free housing and food?
Not housing
10x intern
Like capital one intern pays more than full time
that's just false
no they make a bit less
100x intern
Roughly the same then
they pay almost the same, but thatās just one company
like 15-20% less
it depends on location man
So roughly the same
sf intern = low CoL full time
bro glassdoor is never right
yo can u keep your controversial ideas to random
you literally just named 1 company
idk if they're controversial lol
Neither is level fyi ngl
my bad * can you keep your fake news to random*
But at least as far as I've seen they undershoot
tbf some companies do inflate their intern salaries closer to their new grad to try to get better talent
109k entry level
but I dont think that is what Alex was talking about lmao
what is your point
Iām not sure
Iām going to compete full time to intern now
banks always pay interns close to their new grad full time salary. Usually 80-90 percent
Roughly the same then
At least for Virginia
For banks, salary full time wonāt be drastically higher than intern
Let me check JP Morgan
Well, I guess what I was trying to say is that itās likely that interns can save a higher percentage of their income than full time can, especially when living expenses are covered by the stipends.
But anyways thatās it
are companies usually strict with the 1 year cooldown
would 10.5 months not cut it?
Some will just not let you apply
there's no 1 yr cooldown
Like amazon
my recruiter explicitly said 1 year
gg
i could only get thru one question in the interview so yeah didn't do great
Cooldowns seem quite standard
so even 10.5 months wont cut it right
If you fail an interview yeah thereās a cool down
im gonna say no chief š¦
Yeah theyāll probably be quite strict about it
Knowing recruiters
Wait is this for Amazon?
waymo
Theyāre probably quite strict about this
Ok I almost freaked out lol
@runic tinsel u can try to contact your recruiter next year before new grad though, doesnt hurt to try
especially since you have good exp on your resume
i dont see why they wouldnt want good talent
yeah I feel like if you have a recruiter contact it doesnt rlly apply
cuz they can just pull ur application from the pool
hey I have been applying for summer since end of december. I have applied almost 100 companies but still has not get any reply
anyone can help me with it
it be like that
but seriously id check out #resume and make sure your resume looks good
that's the first step to getting looks
Yeah, the best thing is probably to contact recruiters at these companies
december is pretty late for this recruiting cycle
And see if they can move you forward
No companies are still hiring
Plenty of big nās recruit till March
oh did not know that
If you donāt have anything by April thatās when Iād start to get worried
what big Ns
@craggy gyro definitely post your resume here. We can help review it
Faang, other large tech companies
how hard to get coop for summer 2021?
Still doable
I can provide some cold email advice
Cold emailing startups can work as well
Is bloomberg done hiring? Someone told me they filled up but their app is still open
@tacit halo thanks man I will send it by tomorrow. itās in my laptop
Okay. Happy to help
does covid affect the hiring ?
It honestly depends on the companies
For smaller companies it definitely hurt
For big companies it might have actually helped since their stocks have gone up so much
And people are becoming more reliant on them
But yeah happy to help u find something
thanks dude for helping meI will send you resume by tomorrow
hey, does anyone know of companies that hire freshmen
mostly freshman programs, but you can get lucky with faang if your resume stands out, i. e. amazon cuz the process is mostly automated
I wouldn't bank on it though and I'd reach out to startups
ye currently working at a startup and not loving it
but thank you!
š I got you panda
p*rn level of acting tho
looooooooooool
i thought it was really cool
i enjoyed the code review part
except u had to keep opening and closing the code š
Mostly startups but there are a lot of good ones, especially recently funded startups
Also a few f500 companies may be open to freshman
As well as local companies
For big nās itās very very rare if ur resume says freshman
But cold emailing is always an option
i saw a freshman post on linkedin that they got bloomberg
I can provide some guidance here
welp
I was able to cold email my way into many well paying startups
@cyan valley what's your score on OAs so far?
Very very rare
@muted leaf Dogshit š¢
I wiffed
did anyone get the Amazon OA within a week of applying? or did everyone have to wait for months
@marsh burrow 2months for me
yeah 4 months here too
except my job moved to another role weirdly and I've got ghosted after the OA
Finished on Dec 24.
Job moved to some different role Dec. 28th
no contact since then
others who finished OAs like start of this year have already heard back on final interview
you might want to contact a recruiter or something
what i heard is moving to another role is almost like getting accepted
so like if they're weighing you with other candidates might as well push them to decide
oh
yeah I emailed them they always send a generic response back. The SDE-intern-assessment@amazon.com one
idk who to contact
thanks, just sent it to that
Yeah just emphasize ur situation and that you havenāt heard back and theyāll probably respond
I got kinda a generic response
But at least helped confirmed a few details
You know I counted a total of 113 amazon offers in this server
Thatās a lot
you can just do this lol, don't think he actually "counted" them
I only looked in intern processing channel
And counted out anything that wasnāt a process offer
On the other hand there are only 55 rejects
those are 55 REPORTED rejects
So in this channel more people get amazon than are rejected
alot of people will get rejected and not bring it up lol
i just got three rejects in teh span of an hour and i wont bring it up
For other companies itās different
yeah i guess im just not built different
swear ive gotten a lot of rejections that i just don't post in the process form anymore
Spotify has a 100% reject rate here
process form was great when it was earlier in the season and you could see exactly where the interview process was and who was making it along quickly and who wasn't
its pretty saturated now though
Letās create a new one then
Yeah u can do
search for people
who are on diff stages
to ask em q uestions if uh aveany
i mean why? what would even be the purpose?
Just set a cutoff date
I guess the process form letās u know where u are in the process and whether to expect an oa
I just had an idea. What about a process form that asks for exact dates and verification screenshots and rewards people with bitcoin
Thatās an idea I had
Could be really useful
and who would even supply the bitcoin
We each contribute GPU space
Honestly if we all donated our GPU space we could probably mine some bitcoin
Thereās 14000 people here
Which is a lot
You can only use this command in #2021_grad_process or #2021_intern_process
don't tell me he actually said that...
Look. I have a good gpa
i mean
And I didnāt bribe the coach
I have an A- average
aye good for you if you have the means to do it. means you get a college education
I mean, my philosophy is to never pass on any opportunity in life
And we canāt deny that legacy admissions are a thing. Itās simply a fact, and legacies are likely to donate
Did it help?
I donāt know
Imma be honest, ethically thereās much worse things. And if u use your big bucks as an adult to do good things for others, it will balance out
You donāt seem like a bad dude
Yeah, thereās a fine line between simply taking advantage of an opportunity that is available to you and flat out cheating
Look, I acknowledge, Iām a bit immature
But Iām also young
And I have time to improve
But if you ever turn back on people who are not in a privileged position and assume they simply āhave not worked hard enoughā then u are in a pickle sir. We call that the ātech ceo attitudeā
Youāre probably not that much younger than this crowd
Know, I believe that circumstances play a huge role. Iāve dedicated so much of my time to trying to create opportunities for people in these situations and Iām pretty outspoken on this.
Like Iām a proponent of affirmative action
And it got me quite a bit of backlash
Really donāt want to get into this
u sure ?
Okay itās a story for another day
I got 5/7 on oa 1, 24/26 on oa 2 and thought I did ok on oa 3
But I still got rejected from amazon sde intern
Oa3 matters a lot
Itās the most ambiguous but it tests culture fit
So thatās definitely it
Ur oa1 and oa2 scores are well past the threshold
Oa3 was weird
I basically memorized the 14 leadership principles
Yeah thereās definitely an rng factor
Idk how to do better next time
Did u always put the customer first?
Yeah lmao
Most important ld principle imo
Itās happened to many others
Or itās possible that maybe even one incorrect oa3 question could be the reason
Damn Iām just in a state of shock
I saw others with lower scores get an interview
Do they look at resumes again after oa 3?
Yeah those behavioral tests if you arenāt in a certain percentile or certain personality and stuff auto reject
Would it be worthwhile for me to email them to ask why I got rejected?
No itās just oaās after that
Lol they wonāt respond
But for behavior test they likely have a very strict threshold
I tried to answer the questions the ācorrectā way
Probably not youāll just get an automated response
But looks like I didnāt lmao
For behavioral tests even one question could throw it off
Theyāre very sensitive to these things
Like for oa1 honestly a 0 is fine
Lowkey I bet they track time to answer question as well
For oa2 50% is fine
For oa3 it must be perfect
Thatās my observation
For personality tests one question could throw off the result
And maybe u either do or donāt have a certain personality
Near perfect at least
If u get rejected with near perfect oa1 and oa2 scores itās definitely oa3
Damn is it ok if I reapply?
6 month cool down
But u can still apply to other amazon roles
Like robotics
Aws
Twitch
Do they have a timer or smthing?
Ah r those harder to get in?
So u can reapply for fall
Not necessarily
Twitch seems to only have 2 recruiters
Fall should be out by late may maybe
For their university program
I found like 10 on LinkedIn
Okay maybe 2 university
But for twitch a referral could help
And itās honestly not that hard to get
Just email engineers and say ur really interested
But twitch only takes like 50 interns
If twitch takes that little pple
But probably far less people apply
Since itās less well known
Amazon probably takes like 3000
Did u get their emails off LinkedIn?
I see thanks
Someone in the other server who was interviewing there
Forgot who
And the number has been thrown around quite a bit
Also looked on LinkedIn
after final interview for amazon, do they take all OAs and final interview into consideration or just the final interview š¤
Yeah twitch takes about 45-50 interns
Honestly just the final
Actually someone describes it like this
If u do really bad on the oaās u get rejected
If u do so so the interview is another chance to redeem urself
If u do excellent itās basically just to verify itās u who took the oa
There was some reddit post
Canāt find it
But basically itās described as a red flag a yellow flag and a green flag
Thatās how I remembered it
Just search it up
Iāll look
Can probably find it
Interesting perspective I thought that they took the interview more seriously which was why I prepared for my oas 1 and 2 seriously
Itās honestly been said that out of all the faang companies amazon is by far the easiest to get
Culture fit is extremely important so theyāre looking for ways to filter it out
Amazon is by far one of the most known companies
So they receive a lot of applicants
But they hire like crazy
Itās literally one of the richest companies in the world
But I wouldnāt be surprised if millions apply
So unfortunately theyāre just using arbitrary methods to filter out applicants
still no OA
why do they always gotta yell to check if you're a veteran or not š

do i have to appl yto ALL in order to be considered for all locations?????????????????
oh lmao nvm
Companies that contract for the government have to ask this
Itās to ensure that they arenāt discriminating against veterans
They have to share this information with the government if they contract for them
Same with the disability thing
The government analyzed this data and if thereās evidence of discrimination theyāll lose their government contract and face a lawsuit
does fb work on a rolling basis?
Is it in my best interest to schedule an interview asap
if you are prepared for it then yes schedule it asap. otherwise take as much time as you need to prep before you interview. it is better to be prepared for an interview even if they have a lowering headcount compared to trying to rush an interview to beat headcount but you aren't as prepared
thats good advice thanks, the issue is I don't think I will ever feel properly prepared lmao. Do u think mid of feb is too late?
i completely understand that feeling. I scheduled my interview an entire month out so that I could prepare. I believe i got my schedule confirmation on Jan 3rd or 4th and I have my first phone interview on the 2nd of Feb. So basically I don't think that is too late if thats what you want. If this is for summer they may be closer to headcount but also it is facebook and they take a lot of interns so you should be fine.
Okay cool are you for fall? I'm going for summer but its the second round. I'm going to email my recruiter and see what they say
Yes im going for fall.
Okay. Horrible experience today. Just got another rejection. Itās from a company that I donāt even care about but thereās a story behind it
Okay, so a month and a half ago some recruiter reached out to me on jumpstart saying she would like to offer me an internship. I felt good. I was finally getting traction from recruiters. I then asked her for more information and she literally just gave me a link to apply online.
I thought it was a special link or something so I applied
Tried to message her and heard nothing back
She fell off the face of the earth
And today I got a rejection
Such fucking bait
So done with this bullshit
Literally sent me a message saying sheād like to offer me an internship only to tell me to apply online and then reject me
And apparently this is a pretty common story
Like whatās even the purpose of this?
You wasted at least an hour of my time
Has jumpstart worked for anyone?
Iāve tried applying to jobs on there
Absolutely nothing
Damn that sucks
lately ive been getting spammed by recruiters on linkedin messaging me about senior positions

Not to invalidate anything that you just said but you might want to take this to #rant
but that does suck
Itās likely automated
I get these every day
Honestly Iām just gonna keep emailing recruiters. Just dm me if u need the spreadsheet.
Shit itās already 4:30. Probably just gonna sleep for a few hours
