Hi all! I'm currently on the tail end of a job hunt, where I received senior/SDE2 level offers from Facebook, Google, Uber, and Stripe.
I have around 5 YOE at Amazon, and I've conducted >50 interviews.

I'm close to giving my two weeks notice, and I'll have some time in between jobs so I'd like to conduct some mock interviews
for charity. If you're currently working in the industry, I was thinking you could donate $50/session to a charity of your choice
(some suggestions - BLM or COVID relief). If you're a current student, maybe you could donate something like $25/session.

I only have experience conducting interviews for SDE1/SDE2 candidates, so if you're more experienced I may not be the right
person for you.

I have an onsite and I was not focused on this list (Didn't have LC premium). Preparation was generic focused on specific DS.

If you come up with a brute force and still struggling to get an optimal solution, what should you do?

1. Code up brute force solution and then discuss ways to optimize later.
   a) Pro: Have a working solution
   b) Con: Wasted time coding up a brute fore Solution and lost time for writing up optimal solution
2. Keep trying to get the optimal solution
   b) Pro: Could get strong hire if your gamble pays off and you get the optimal solution
   b) Con: Could end up with a buggy optimized solution worse than brute force

you should just ask the interviewer what they prefer, if you don't feel confident with your ability to implement the optimal solution then just go for the brute force one, the goal of the coding component is also to show how you code, not entirely just how good you are at DS&A.

in fact most of the time when I implement a sub optimal solution, and they ask me for the optimal solution, I just describe it and they don't ask me to implement it

frankly whether or not you implement the most optimal solution doesn't usually weigh that heavily, it's more about your thought processes, how you code, and your ability to explore different alternatively approaches

Hi lil, for the AWS assessment, you will have 4 tests.

1. Some Amazon workplace situations, it will test your behavioral logic, you need to be familiar with Amazon Leadership Principles. (No timer)
2. Personality test : there is some sentences you will, 2 per 2, you should choice what matches with your behaviour and Amazon LP. (No timer)
3. Some issues : you will be in a situation, you need to "solve" issues with customers, you are given some answers you need to classify them (~20mins)
4. Skills test : you will be given a table where you need to choose your preferences between Database, Cloud Computing, Algorithms, Migration (something like that)
   And I don't remember when, but you will be asked to fill a table by choosing your level of expertise, something like in Database (SQL, NoSQL, ...) you are : None, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert. And after that you will be test on those technical fields related to AWS, something like What is CI/CD, What should be used to block attacks.

friendly advice you may already know: amazon dives much deeper into the details of your anecdotes than FB or google does in my experience. it's good to come with very specific numbers and be prepared for thorough follow-ups. (don't be intimidated if they keep probing; it doesn't mean you're doing bad, and if you can easily keep answering those followups you're probably doing well)

just be yourself, HR stuff doesnt require too much prep. Try to show them you are a nice person to work with
