Hey guys! I have been searching for a job almost for 2 years now, still no luck, I have 2+ years of experience and worked for AWS (vancouver) as an SDE earlier. It has been so long that I dont see any application responses coming my way. All I see is rejection mails for the roles, they do not even get screened with real humans anymore, ATS discards the resume itself. I had my resume reviewed with lot of people, raning from HR's to PM's from FAANG and different companies and they said resume was good. I'm actually in the same boat, unfortnately. It has been horrible getting soo close to getting an offer only to be lowballed or ghosted in the last stage and now it's 1.6 months of unemployment for me. I have applied to every job portal and every job I could find. most of the times it's a auto reject. And recently I interviewed with meta, I thought this is it and I almost got in but screwed up a coding question and that felt like my last straw. been completely depressed for the last few weeks and I have no idea what else to do anymore that I already haven't. In my case, even referrals have not worked, they never get me a call because of the gap. I just don't know what to do. I felt completely alone in this. I hope you're dealing with it better than me and things change soon.

i really feel you guys on this, the job market right now is brutal - rejections pile up even for people with solid experience. One thing I’ve noticed (from looking at a ton of resumes over the years) is that sometimes it’s not the experience itself, but how it’s showing up in ATS. Even small things like section headers, keyword alignment, or too much formatting can make your resume invisible before a recruiter even sees it.

When I started tweaking resumes with those details in mind, a lot of folks I know started getting callbacks much faster, sometimes a fresh perspective makes all the difference.

My friend got hired and his experience was
Start date minus 7: offer
Start date minus 3: on-boarding (during a weekend)
Start date: on-boarding and some work on their work-tracking platform
Start date +1: can no longer access platform to do work due to technical issue
Start rate +5: "the project you were working on has wrapped up, therefore we are ending your contract with us" and boom no more job

It is absolutely the worst most dystopian practice I have ever seen. 0/10

I just left a short stint doing COO and CTO level-work with a Harvard University Innovation Labs venture. I'm interested in looking for something new if there is somebody who knows any open roles or even founders looking for someone to help them develop their own startup ventures. I prefer ventures at the Series A or Series B stage with solid financing or roles with medium to large revenue generating companies that have listed salary. I helped the early stage venture do its early stage software engineering to get online, built some of their social media marketing, and wrote a pitch deck scoring top 5% of all YCombinator Batch Applicants. Does anyone know remote-first work similar to like Outlier AI, Data Annotation, etc. that I could possibly sign up for relatively fast? I just lost one stream of income from a technical issue on Medium where I did some blog writing for money. The website has been going through changes with the new CEO so lots of people have reported the website have been kicking writers off randomly, likely to save money so they do not have to shut down the entire business, and it's been upsetting people. The website is always down from crashes too sadly- they need more engineers for sure to keep things running. A lot of people all moved from Medium to Substack website instead and quit Medium completely.

Yes I was on Mercor. I'm trying to make money on its referral program but applying for those roles have been extremely hard. I just got onto the partner program for Shopify in Canada so I can get paid a percentage for making websites for people. I got kicked off the Medium Partner Program when CEO Tony Stubblebine made so much new changes and the more grunt workers are just enforcing it but they are not very literate with the policies and not really good in professional judgment. They literally kicked off a writer/creator with 31,000+ following for something too. Strange and mean at the time considering how things are lol. They (new moderators) probably want to look like they are doing their job so they target random people to kick off (sigh). They're avoiding paying people on W2 Employment Roles for taxes and benefits in the US by those kind of legal runarounds as Partner Programs, I would believe. Thank you for the support. I hope things will look up for everyone in this community too.

^ i've done this, the up to $150/hr is mostly clickbait. yes there may be ONE project like that, once or twice a year, that lasts for maybe a few days (i've been through an experience like it). no hate to the person posting about it, just know it's far from ideal. you'll be waiting many months before being assigned a project, which doesn't guarantee you hourly pay or even any regular short-term feasibility. there's a lot of caveats overall, just keep that in mind. handshake is just another linkedin, the roles posted there you can probably find on other job boards.

I did ask Vivatranslate CEO Belinda Mo for a role before doing graphic design a long tine ago since the website sucked and it had poor marketing value. She launched the company to help non-English speakers use AI to get jobs in San Jose and help companies save money by reducing their English-speaking employees labor, headcount, etc. or something like that. She said no.... I felt like she was extremely fake after that: she would rather help non-English speakers than English-speaking San Jose, CA residents/natives, to get jobs in San Jose, CA. Oh well, whatever. I guess San Jose is just one of those cities that prefer non-English speaking employees to fill their roles. They save money using AI. It's smart for their finances but bad for people like me. Being too pricey is a liability now. I got booted from one role becaue they hired oversea Indian for software dev and they used no-code tools. Oh man....

Last July, Kael Xue hired someone to take his interviews for him (full impersonation) and got hired at Amazon. He is currently still employed there. It has come to light that he blocked the people who did the proxy interviews for him and has been acting with a terrible attitude, basically acting like he has nothing to lose. Besides sending emails to the official channels, what other good ways are there to expose him?
Below is the original email---
Dear Amazon Embedded Systems Team:
Hello.
I am writing this letter as a victim who was deceived by Kael Xue, to report a serious integrity violation that occurred during Amazon's new graduate hiring process.
Kael Xue, an SDE at Amazon Embedded Systems (who also goes by the alias "xiangxue," the pinyin romanization of his Chinese ID card name), committed serious interview fraud during Amazon's recruitment process.
Specifically, during three rounds of Amazon new grad interviews conducted between July 1, 2025 and July 2, 2025, his actions violated the principles of integrity, fairness, and professionalism required by Amazon's hiring process.
Throughout the entire interview process, Kael Xue himself did not participate in the interviews. Instead, at his request, a proxy interview team took his place and completed all interview rounds on his behalf.
This conduct constitutes interview impersonation and identity fraud, seriously undermining the fairness and integrity of the hiring process, and harming the rights of other legitimate job seekers.
After receiving Amazon's offer, Kael Xue refused to pay the remaining balance as previously agreed upon, and cut off all communication channels by blocking the proxy interview team in order to evade his payment obligations.
As a direct witness to this incident, I feel it is my responsibility to truthfully report this matter to your team.
The documents attached to this letter contain some relevant information and communication records as preliminary evidence.
