#Slack vs Discord for companies
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
@lean whale he used to work at a video game organization(?) and his team used discord
i would imagine whoever works at discord would obvs use discord lols
also not work related but a lot of university hackathons and school clubs are on discord. perhaps in several years we’ll gradually see the shift from slack to discord
It's the best decision that they did and I miss working with Discord as a communication platform
The voice channels were really good for collaborative efforts and were really cool to do similar elements to irl collaboration and the channels and roles are super helpful. And the fact that it's a combination of text, video, and audio it's amazing
It's like slack meets teams but better and a lot more customizable
yee I did lol
What factors led you to think of it as crazy?
well, I'm worried about all the workflows that depend on integrations with Slack
for example, we log our Figma versions to a Slack channel using the Figma-to-Slack plugin
and I don't know if that process is possible to replicate in Discord
the same happens with other workflows that integrate Jira, Confluence, Google Calendar, etc.
we also get Figma comments directly to Slack, and that speeds up interactions between the UX team and other teams
Looks like there are at least some rudimentary automation integrations that can work with figma and jira, but I don't know if they provide the same functionality. That does sound crazy if they don't exist!
yeah, the thing is that they apparently just decided it lol, some analysis has to be done to see how it affects each team
anyways, thanks everyone for the answers
Main thing is that discord started as a gamer and community communication first so make sense that they are still working on some things like Figma and Jira inclusion. But in my current role we use those and we use Teams instead of Slack and we haven't had any issue even when there's no integration between teams and non Microsoft software
well, maybe I'm just afraid of getting out of my comfort zone 😅
I've never used Slack in my professional life so to me it's hard to miss what I've never used
wow u lucky man you
