Hi! Is this event only open for students living in the US?
How many team members in one team?
This event is open to anyone anywhere in the world! People outside of the US won't be eligible for prizes though due to constraints beyond our control ๐
2-3 people per team! So if you have 4 people you want to work with, you can split up into multiple teams and still have fun!
@pure forge Sorry Angela, I have to make a correction to my original message: the event is only open to US students, as we had to make a restriction to the registration process to only take .edu emails. This is to prevent spam, but we hope to open it up to students all over the world in future years!
oh damn only 3 people I had a group of 4
I had a similar issue when I participated in a designathon years ago, and it actually made it more fun to split up our group of 4 into two groups of two because we got to get competitive against each other lol. So if you have a group of 4, no reason not to turn that into two teams ๐
That makes sense!
When do signups close and do you know roughly how many people are participating? @merry cedar
It's hard to say how many people will be participating, as we do try to grow our numbers every year, but last year we had over 200 people registered!
If you're wondering about how many people will actually be submitting a project, that's a little harder to gauge. Once the design prompt is released, all participants who are eligible (those who have a .edu email) can work on their project and submit it by the end of the weekend. Even if you register with a .edu email, you don't necessarily have to join a team and submit a project: lots of students join to be able to go to the workshops and just have fun! This designathon is meant to be accessible to all experience levels, so we of course love seeing teams of beginners submitting projects in addition to more experienced designers ๐
`thank you, thats a great answer!
My friend is currently uncertain about whether they can join, when is the eventbrite closing?
My apologies! That was your first question and I didn't even answer it! I believe registration closes the day before or the day of the start of the event (so either the 24th or the 25th). I'd recommend registering before that though so that you have time to receive our participants package (basically guidelines and links for the event) that we'll be sending out later this week or next ๐
