Hello everyone and thanks for creating this thread
Hi everyone
Hi everyone! Just wanted to ask would there be anyone who’s open to reviewing each other’s portfolios or practice presenting case studies? I’m finishing up my Google UX course and would love to hone my skills before applying for internships. Thank you in advance lol
I am on course 1 for the Google UX Course. I am behind a week but I'll get that taken care of ASAP. lol
Test.
definitely open to this once I get to the point of creating a portfolio
Can someone send a link to the Google UX Design Course?
Hello! I'm not part of the course, but wondering what you all think of it so far. Thanks 🙂
So I'm only in the first part of the course and on Week 3 and I'm learning quite a bit! I can't wait until I am able to build my portfolio
Hello everyone!
I am starting with the Week 2 peer-graded "Create personas for your portfolio project" assignment
I am in week 2 but still at the point of conducting interviews
Week 4 course 5 here.
Hi everyone! I am in Course 2, Week 1. Trying to find people to conduct interview with each other or fill out surveys.
It's an art auction app, would appreciate some feedback!
hey folks - I started this course in January, and I've been stuck on the course 2, week 2 user interview assignment for the portfolio project for a while now. I figured I should reach out for help with better understanding the task. Is anyone available to connect and chat? tia ✨
Hey Fen I can help you!
aah 😭 thank you~ folks have been dming me too
I'll gather the things I'm struggling with and post them here in a bit
Will take a look at this is a bit! I’m intrigued
Hi everyone, I am currently in Course 2 Week 2 and is stuck in the interview section, because I couldn’t get enough survey. I have post a link in the #📋surveys channel, I would really appreciate your input and I would love to help anyone who has the same need. Thank you.
Hello everyone, I just started Course 2 week 1, after months of neglecting it 😬
Congrats!
Hello everyone! I'm on Course 5 right now and chugging on through! Really excited to start developing hifi mockups this week. The one thing I really struggle with this course is that there is just a lack of feedback generally. I'm really thankful that we have this little group now!
Hi! I'm also doing the certification, and am currently on Course 3, week 2, just about to do some wireframes :)
What has your experience been so far with the feedback you've received? Unfortunately, I usually only get points and a one-sentence "feedback" but nothing really constructive.
Honestly, that feedback part isn't very helpful
That's just the assignment feedback in the course
And also, how do you feel about the discussion forums on Coursera in general? To me they feel to be made for a sort of a "fake engagement", to be honest. I've never seen a proper discussion going on there, so that's why I started looking for places like this discord :)
Even I have mostly just randomly said "good job" or left a thumbs up emoji in that feedback section on coursera
Yeah, I do that too now, only tried to give proper feedback the first few times and then saw what I was receiving and just got discouraged :/
For real feedback, you need proper engagement with people. Yea, Coursera discussion forums are kinda fake engagement because they don't really provide anything valuable. Literally every single thing there is "please check my assignment - here's the link"
Yea, most people just want to get done with it and move on to the next part of the course
So, is it time for a UX redesign of Coursera forums/the whole engagement process? 😂
I myself was sprinting through the first 5 courses
I finished sprinting through the first 5 courses in about 2 months or so
Then, I haven't got a chance to finish the 6th course in like 6 months
Ohhh! What happened if you don't mind me asking? 😅
I don't get time
Ugh, that's quite understandable unfortunately
My exams started around then, back to back orals, assignment submissions, practicals, finals, and then a new semester after just a 15 day break
Honestly, I was just burnt out at that point
I was trying to handle so many things at once so fast
So, I decided to take a break from the UX design course.
And, my best friend will also be doing that course
So, I am waiting for her to catch up
I know that feeling quite well :)
But this is great! You'll be able to give each other real feedback
Yea
And to motivate each other too
Though she may not catch up at all, lol
Because last she finished course 1 after a week or so... By that time, I finished 2.5 courses
She started the second course, but gave up because I was too fast and she didn't have sufficient motivation
And, I didn't know that she was even going to do them... I would've waited for her if she told me she was going to do those courses
Well maybe now when she can catch up in her own time, she'll finish them. I'm any case, good luck! :)
My college started offline classes last month... After that, we barely get any time for ourselves
The university is 2 hours away from both of our places, though we don't exactly live near each other (imagine an isosceles triangle with 2, 2, 1.5 sides)
Hi all, currently making my way through this and just made it to course 6
How have you all been getting new people to interview/test whenever it's required? I don't really want to keep asking the same friends every time...
What about asking #📋surveys or #👥collaborations , RYO?
Ah okay thank you, wasn't sure if I would be intruding in those as a student. Will try those next time one of those pops up!
Hey everyone! I'm currently enrolled in this course as well and am on Week 4 Course 1. Would love to engage with you all regarding the same and share projects and feedback !
I have quite a big reach on Instagram, so I try asking friends there to recommend friends of friends that I don't know. I've had some success doing that.
I had to do this before. First time I made it a formal thing and got a few people, none outside of my circle of friends. When I snuck it in to conversations I got a lot of results
And I used that data
Granted this was for a class w my masters and not google, but i'd probably do it the same way
