I'm working on a custom script wordmark for a barcade my client is working to launch, and this is my first time designing something like this. I made two versions: one with normal-weight letters and a bold version. I would like to know which areas for each version I can improve on, in terms of optical adjustments.

I would go with the first version because it is clear to read compared to the second one. I was thinking if you can maybe experiment with a thinner script font style, having a thinner stroke. Apply some leading and tracking as well

Agreed, first one has so much more space, it has more readability.
