#Make that middle name a component, and

Could be understanding this wrong. But making the main text a component and using a stroke variant of it in the background wouldn't auto update the stroke variant when you change the main text. You would need to select both the main and the stroke variants to change the text as a whole.

Oh, you meant an instance.

#

Works! Thank you, thank you : )

#

Let me try implementing it with what I as working on.

It works! Can't make the card a component now though, doing so creates the 'Main text' component seperately. But manageable. The other alternative I had figured out was setting it up as variables. But this is easier to work with.

Hopefully.

Figma does that for me. If I try to make the card a component.

#

Give me a min.

#

Nah, broke.

#

Idea is I have to create 20 of these. Unless we create separate component for each heading I don't think the background trick would work.

I got the solution but is little tricky but quick it is. Let me try to explain.

#

So I told you to keep the main text out of the canvas and replace it with another instance but with fill on. After that make your card a component and add another instance of that component. Now in the instance that you just added select that main text in middle and right click on it > detach instance. Now its is detached you can make it a separate component and to make rest of that text in background to follow it, you need to select them all and go to right side panel and on top you will see this

#

You can swap instance by selecting that new component you made and all will follow it.

#

In short get card instance > detach the main text and make it a separate component > select all background texts and swap instances with new component

#

Easy

#

Only quickest solution other than variable

I dont think it's there in figma but to re-confirm. Can you swap nested component instances without going into the component?

sharp flame
#

Try to follow the steps you will get it.

#

Example: A button with a nested icon component. Can I swap the icon without double-clicking and going into the button component?

Hmm... Looking into it.

Like this right?

Also How's using Figma on a iPad feel like? Just a bit of learning curve? Or is it better to stick to PC. @sharp flame ?

It’s not optimized. The browser on iPad is not the same as Mac or Windows, so there are limitations. I am currently using an Apple Pencil to navigate in it. It is smooth, but it is still not optimized. For undo/ redo, you have to do it manually by going to the Figma icon > Edit > Undo. For right-click, you need to double-tap, which looks easy but is a mess when working with 2-5 layers on top of it. Apart from that, it works fine but is not recommended. I haven’t tried with a mouse or keyboard yet, but I have no hopes. I use my laptop for Figma and iPad as a secondary screen.

#

Uploading files from ipad to figma is another reason to use it as a secondary display. Same with framer.

So second screen but functional
