I think the biggest challenge is just the sheer volume of rejection in applying. A lot of rejection responses can actually feel tailored and can make you think they looked at background, resume, portfolio etc when really it's the default rejection response when they close a role. As humans I don't think it's possible to not absorb at least some of that and internalize it especially when feedback is either that or just a non-response for an extended period of time.

For example if you run into 20 people and everyone is a jerk then maybe you should consider that you're the jerk. In this market though the sort of ratio you can feel doesn't match up and you have to be more stubborn. You might not even be doing anything wrong and still hear nothing or get rejected based on when the job was posted and when you hit the queue.

The loneliness is becoming a pretty serious problem. It’s hard to explain how serious it is to someone who isn’t experiencing it.

Going to meetups can help… a little… but they don’t replace the day to day interactions from having work on a team.

I would love co-working sessions! Oftentimes I’m just plugging away on my own. It would be really nice to have a more consistent space to hop in/out

If the company doesn't have resources to reply to everyone that's fine just don't but also just make the application as an upload input with a submit button so the energy feels at least a little bit even. Really annoying to fill out an application for 20 minutes or more and then just nothing.
