I'll check out working not working. I've been trying to figure out how to actually do anything with tech fleet for almost a year, but it's all totally over my head. I don't even know how to use discord, notion, agile, all these programs everyone knows like experts.
Dude Tech Fleet is confusing and overwhelming for a neurodivergent like me so I totally understand on that
That's how all of UX feels to me. Like here's something you can do. but not really because here's 50,000 other things to do before you can do that
Agile, you should read uhhh its a great book that explains how AGILE works.
And this one!
Though I will say SPRINT is a better book because its more interesting haha
I've been avoiding books, I hate them lol. But i guess I should just do it and suffer
all i've done this whole 18 months is read stuff, I haven't done any kind of design or collaboration
I feel like with UX, a lot of people get overwhelmed by what to do but you have to remember there are different categories and specialties you can focus on!
Just gotta find it 🔥
If you really want to solve problems/or help a non profit, I also suggest https://www.catchafire.org they don't really have UI/UX but mostly web design, but you are helping them spread the word on a problem.
I feel like I've kinda failed at that. The things I'm passionate about don't translate to UX. Like I love music but I hate streaming audio apps.
Maybe I'll check out catch a fire in the future, I need to find a job at the moment.
I agree design buddies is def more towards younger people. I joined secificlly to help transition into UX/UI but i feel like a fish out of water there
I mean if you are part of Designbuddies, I know that Bitesize UX gives out free workshops to those who are members. Might be something to check out if you are sick of graphic design and want to venture out into UI/UX
Oh I meant that it hasn't been around very long haha.
I tried some bite sized workshops as well. They move so fast I can't keep up. It's so frustrating. I also need to learn alllll the software...figma isn't enough, they are always using something different and everyone is an expert
You would be surprised how UX is involved with everything actually.
Like everything just moves too fast and everyone is already an expert
Fair. Honestly not to be baised, but you should check out Designlab. It is a self pace bootcamp, but you have a mentor to help you through it. They also have peer reviews and group crits. I am a mentor there.
I'll check that out. Thank you fo the rec.
Np!! I know they have some other classes too. Also, figma has a playground you can mess with!
Feel free to contact me if you ever need help with figma too. I do not mind! :">
Thank you. Figma is kinda weird because I kinda use it like photoshop.....Like i can clunk around in it but i'm sure if i ever joined a team i'd have no idea what to do
haha fair. I use figma for project planning and ui/ux. I use Affinity Serif for my adobe alternatives.
I guess what I mean is like, i just copy/paste stuff into figma. I dont know how auto layout or components and variables really work. I tried to learn but it's complicated
That would be helpful I think thank you. I have never found anything basic on figma, every tutorial is some uber advanced feature
How do I find you on adp list? the link just takes me to the homepage
No worries! If anyone is peeking in this thread, feel free to do the same. Maybe I will set up a basic group session within ADPlist for figma basics.
OOP
I thought it was my url
IM DUMB HOLD ON AHHH
Got it. I'll book a time to meet. I can some simple things like make a variable, but when i try using other free figma files, Ihave to break the components up because they don't work they way I need them to
Find me on Adplist and we can go over basics if you want
