That's great! Would you think if I just continue working on personal projects (I do try to reach out on some job posts but they don't reply ๐Ÿฅบ) I could eventually try and land Web/UI/UX roles?

#

Literally don't know what else to do - or if I'm not doing enough projects

I think it helps especially if you're passionate about those things. The thing is you could have a good portfolio and still not get hired immediately so you have to just look at ways to keep moving forward and learning. I mean I've got 20 years of experience and I've been laid off since October. But lots of companies are looking for junior UX people so it's not like you're competing with seniors.

Oh also generally visual designers are generally paid less so you might find it easier to break in that way through more graphic design tasks and then once you're in look for projects that people aren't interested in and take ownership of it. I had a company that just wanted a web 2.0 refresh on their site and I took the initiative to do some ux research and flow design as well. Stakes are pretty low with projects that nobody cares about. It's just kinda a bonus that you succeeded.

really good takes @barren timber!

True enough there are times where I ask myself how I could make it through, juniors, seniors, there are a lot. But yes, I'd still try and push through proposals and projects and see where it takes me ๐Ÿ™

So sorry to hear about being laid off, the industry has been on it during and after pandemic and I understand now how it feels. Hope you're in a good spot and will have more opportunities knocking on your door soon! ๐Ÿ’ช
