#Allyson and web design

I'll answer in a thread so somebody else can ask or answer other questions!
For me I did really enjoy it! I've always liked digital stuff and as a brand designer primarily it was nice to have control over what the brand looked like in a digital touchpoint
It was one of the most asked for add ons when I was freelancing brand work
Everyone with a new brand wants a new website that reflects it or at least website updates so it usually ended up in a package we weren't sought out for specifically just web work
(I say we bc I cofounded an agency, so it was my design partner and I pitching for projects)
I'll say that since it's not my "main" thing it was moreso about how do I keep things easy for me and still meet client needs. I wasn't trying to make the most AMAZING websites so that's why I tend to keep things easy
But it was fun just takes a long time and lots of communication. Would be easier if I had a copywriting partner regularly and a dev partner regularly so might be good for you to find a freelancer in your network you could team up with time to time. The times I had them was because the client's team already had one, but I wish I brought in other freelancers more often it's just hard when trying to keep in budget
I mostly stopped freelancing web work bc I knew I had things to learn and I wanted to get more mentorship before I kept going in that direction of leading an agency in a digital space
So I joined corporate and now I'm here learning more UI/UX things at work even though graphic design is my main role
I'll also add I had web exp at an agency job before I partnered up and started my own thing so I had a bit of experience before diving in
very interesting!
just to clear this part, you were doing web design and brand design at the same time?
We would start with the branding side of the project since it would dictate the visual design of the website
It would also help separate payments, too, almost treating them like separate projects
ohhhhh
So you could structure it so that you get deposit for brand, hand-off payment for brand, then deposit for website, hand-off payment for website
but that's up to what you're comfortable with around payments, just always get a deposit before starting work
what percentage of the full price would a deposit be?
this should be something i should be researching on my own, but if u dont mind answering, in terms of payments - was that done via paypal?
Haha, yeah that'll take some time to figure out which payment platform you want to do. You can get paid through freelancing platforms like bonsai or get into account tools like quickbooks and freshbooks. Depending on which invoicing software you want to use you may link a bank account or something like paypal
Stripe I think also has invoicing
perfect
