imo helmets dont need a buff as much as some of the stronger weapons need a nerf, a big point of marauders is the fact that gear disparity isnt super strong as long as youre good, but if i had a lvl 15 on no little man with anything in a caliber smaller than my hand would be able to reasonably kill me

i do agree 5 and 6 do nothing for protection though you get one tapped by basically everything

Yep, helmets don't need another buff and we don't need to remove any of them. I actually think that combat was better when we had nothing above a tier 10 helmet and when head shots were doing 3.5x damage. Back then high end weapons didn't matter as much because low tier weapons were more dangerous if you could land head shots. Higher tier loot wasn't as common either so we didn't have as many people running around with top tear kit all the time. I would happily go back to that. I also think having too much "good" stuff in the shops contributes to this problem because almost no one is running around with low tier gear anymore. Everyone's using mid to high tier stuff most of the time and it's changed the game significantly.

They have other options to balance things. The could adjust the head shot modifier again, could try dropping it back to 3.0 and see how that feels with the new weapons and combat mechanics. That's basically the same as buffing helmets without all the hassle of adjusting each one or adding/removing different helmets. Going back to 3.0x changes the minimum damage for a one-shot from 31 points after helmet armour is deducted to 34 points which is functionally the same as adding 3 points to every helmet.

Could nerf high end weapons as you suggested. Could drop all mid and high tier weapon damage down a few points per hit. Could rebalance all weapons to have slightly lower damage output.

Level 5 and 6 helmets do plenty in the right circumstances but they, like a tier 8 or 9 helmet, won't keep you alive from multiple head hits from a mid or high tier gun.

Any head hit doing 31+ damage after helmet armour is deducted is a one-shot kill on a full health player. A tier 5 helmet prevents a one-tap if you get hit for 35 damage or less, and a tier 6 stops that from happening when the hit is 36 damage or less. That's not insignificant, but obviously pales in comparison to 10+ points of protection.

Shotgun pellets will kill a full health player with no helmet if just 2 of them hit the head. A tier 5 helmet turns that 32 damage kill shot ( 2 pellets at 16 damage each and remember, 31 is the threshold for a head shot kill) into only 22 damage before the 3.25x modifier so it would take 3 pellets to the head to kill, not 2. A tier 6 makes it 20 damage total so it'll take 4 pellets to kill a full health player, not 2. That's a 33% and 50% increase in the number of projectiles to drop you and although it may not seem like much it matters. Most fights come down to one or two hits making the difference.

Obviously the tier 5/6 helmet won't save you from 3 or 4 head hits from most weapons, but neither will a tier 10 helmet...

Imo right now there is a good balance and high tier gear can easylie punish the enemy if he reacts a little slower or aims worse. Also by not buffing the gear too much you are making sure you are not gonna be ignoring bots/npcs too much, as most of them are a little too easy already. Maybe make high calibar/end game weapons a bit more rare.

before any change to helmets, there needs to be an overhaul to durability, I could get behind higher tier helmets if they were only surviving a couple hits before breaking as a trade off

I agree on that, they are way too durable. I think maybe 8-10 hits is all a piece of armor should take. Maybe the super high tier armor 12 hits or something

well ... looking at how helmets work irl .. and what use they got ..being fragmentation protection ( which it doesnt have ig) instead of being wanted to be bulletproof ., a svt should puncture and take a life kinda instant 😛
would rather have to get a rework of blast protection /damage ^^

every decent weapon already two taps or has a fire rate that essentially makes its 4 tap be one shot so i dont think having helmets basically not matter with certain calibers is a good idea

(i still think the mosin and especially the dumbass johnson comp are unbalanced as fuck because of this)
