Drop off items you find or buy off trader or craft go to a map and drop off items in a box to boost trader or for missions be a nice change from collecting items and taking out of game

how about a mailbox that requires 1 gold coin to send items back to base?

I think this could be implemented but it would have to be something small if we are talking mailbox, maybe big enough to send a medical supply crate out but that would be the limit, like 2x3? or a 3x3

May I suggest a different approach to this topic? Since we know about the active smuggling business in Marauders I propose a hidden dead drop similar to the hidden stashes with a 2x2 or 3x3 size where players can safely store items. After the raid whether or not the player survived the raid the player can buy their stored items back from a Smuggler tab in the Trading Menu for 200%-300% of the resell price of the items.

One initial concern I have with this is that other people could raid it like any ordinary stash, potentially denying you of the reward, while giving them a huge benefit at your expense.
It's also only useful if you die or cannot fit all the items in your inventory, which is the same as the mailbox. Except the mailbox is not susceptible to denial by other players (assuming the item is immediately sent/removed after submission)

I do like your iteration, but it would require some extra steps to prevent unwanted repurcussions.
ie.

  • first come first serve, and you can lock it after you're finished
  • each player gets their own stash window to access, and cannot interact with each other's stashes (this may be difficult to implement, also breaks immersion)
  • items can be placed inside, but cannot be removed. This still requires the items to be correlated to a specific owner in the event that multiple people place items in the same stash

I remember this being an idea for tarkov by some or even an idea that was considered but it never happened. Could be something worth considering if it’s a double edge sword and if it can be added easily without causing problems.

A combination of these ideas would be the best version I'd say

  • stash/mailbox dead drop (2x3-3x3 space) with FCFS access and can be locked afterwards or items are immediately sent/removed after submission, maybe add the cost of a coin/bank note to lock/submit. No way to steal other people's items. (adds a new POI for players to rush)
  • items are sent back to "base" and must be purchased from a smuggler for an inflated price. Only 1 smuggler can be active at a time.

This could essentially be Marauders version of a Safe Pocket, but with extra steps that add more risk for more reward. Having these in conspicuos locations would add another element of danger. Or maybe have a certain AI guarding the premise

@dark kraken I know you guys are against safe pockets, but this would be an epic addition to raids
