Problem:

You’re always at the mercy of some shitass with a rifle one tapping you from across the map because he has 3000 hours and is a pvp demon.

Body:

This is slightly better in raid mode because equipment is random but highly skilled people will always be a problem for new players or players who just want to play against easy to mid level enemies.

Solution:

A third purely PVE game mode similar to raid in that it has a cool down (to limit people mainlining it and getting good loot with no risk from high skill players) but similar to the standard mode in that you can bring your own gear and play in a normal map with points of interest, salvage, turrets/mines, etc but on a smaller scale to limit server bloating or wasting of resources since this would be a game per player and not a shared round.

disclaimer:

I know very little about online/offline games and the differences thereof in terms of server load and requirements so if the above statements make no sense here’s your answer.

Thank you for your time.

@clear vigil anything to add or discuss? The best way to improve an idea is through discussion.

The game is a PvP PvE game and taking away an essential part of the game ain't a good thing imo. I know being killed early in the raid by a guy with one headshot is frustrating but this new game mode would divide the playerbase into smaller groups and I could see a lot of players just playing the PvE mode then. Currently the playerbase isn't big enough to sustain more than two game modes.

Some advice I would give you. When you wanna play something more PvE go to the unpopular POIs like Asteroid Mine and Mining Frigate cause they are ignored most of the time by other players. And running away isn't a shame either when you encounter a more skilled player.

I hate it but Pork is pretty right about the player pop issue.

Those are good points and I do partially agree that the player base is a little bit small to be implementing too many separate avenues of play this early on. Do you think this issue would be fixed once a certain number of recurring players is reached or will the inherent risk involved with pvp lead to too many of those players defaulting to pve exclusively, further reducing their interaction with the game due to cool downs, rendering the pve exclusive game mode unviable at its core?

I think itd go the route of SCUM in that instance especially since servers are all on the company rather than hosting

That’s really low considering the fun this game can produce but not surprising considering the bugs/general instability of an unfinished game and the niche nature of extraction shooters, I use niche loosely.

How long the game been out anyhow? I only found out about it maybe last month. Maybe a marketing issue

#

Oh yeesh almost a year now. Yeah time to ramp up marketing lol

  • this so it goes to the top of the suggestions again

game literally cannot get any worse by adding a pve only mode. no different than SPT really. servers can handle an influx of people because the game handled higher playercounts before with no issues. Giving people viable options on how to play the game and enjoy it isn't a bad thing especially with niche games that are still in development and only a year into its EA on Steam.

#

also dont think anyone would have an issue with pve stash and pvp stashes being separate. i know for a long time the inventories were bugged and really bad with having to open sacks and backpacks and close them then take them into raids and drop them and pick them up after unfolding them. and if the dev team and the publisher dont care about playercount idk why they wouldnt add in a pve mode to possibly get more purchases from people seeking solely pve games. imagine people buying this game that is pvp but for solely pve at 30 dollars... would be the most expensive pve game out there.

#

also to say PVE only wouldnt be worth it is a very asinine thing to say when most games published by Team17 that make money are either single player games or coop games and even their best pvp game is worms.

a pve mode would be nice for those that want it, would need to have the stash separate from pvp stash; that said idk if the devs would ever implement it considering they've stated before about not wanting it for one, two it could pull players away from the pvp mode (especially solo people) and three people then will probably complain about the solo mode feeling too baren to be worthwhile, which the devs could just ignore it but they probably wouldn't want to ship an underdeveloped mode. if anything would probably need modders to make a PVE offline mod for the game sometime down the line

#

I'd be up for a pve mode but i dont see it happening, personally i'd settle for a solo queue so I can fight other solo players
