#POIs and suggestion about getting the POI that you want

Terraformer and Prison are both great maps that are mostly ignored by the players. I'm afraid that after adding soloqueue they will be even emptier because the playerbase will be divided into 2 parts.

What if players were able to unlock and craft coordinates that allow to get into a specific POI - You could find disk drives/CDs/floppy discs/whatever in the computers, then pay a large amount of money to allow one time entry to a specific POI. I know that Asteroid Mine would probably be full every raid, but if some people would want to have a calm raid they would select Prison or Terra, and if enough people decide to do that sudeenly you got a raid with some people and action in it. Also less players would leave just because they didn't get the POI they want. Would work even better if all raids would be a single POI raid. The idea obviously requires more refinement. There could also be a bonus for going into a raid without coordinates like +10% exp for going random.

The solo queue will only have one space station per raid like it was before the Red Baron update so empty prison and terraformer won't be that often except if everyone just leaves or goes to a side POI.

Beyond the question of getting the right POI, they have to do something with matchmaking and quests. It is currently not satisfying at all, irrespective of whether you are looking to perform some quests in specific locations or do PvP.

There is a big issue with the current gameplay loop. On the one hand, part of the stuffs to do can be achieved everywhere (most of Z2H quests), on the other hand, plenty of things have a important random part, such as some quests, hunting Red Baron, looking a merchent shipo to find the T12 armor, use your tokens that you have stacked in your stash. The hunting of this goals force players to spawn and extract, which is not fun, and is one of the reaons for the empty raids.

I am not even sure how they can solve this issue. Even if they'd add a sort of map selection system, goals such as hunting the Red Baron or looking for a T12 armor would be still difficult and nopt really enjoyable.

BTW, your reddit post is really great and I agree with most of your points (except for the compass idea). From my part, biggest issues are the empty raids/inconsistent amount of players in each raid and the fact that a good part of the content is RNG based and force players to extract and spawn again until they find what they are looking for.

Like kill 8 Raiders missions. If that would be implemented into the game and you have a mission that requires you to kill 10 Prisoners for example that would give players more motivation to play these maps. What ya think about it?

I had already upvoted your thread, which brings really good ideas. To fix empty maps, I would also add a few features like:

  1. Add something unique in each map, like Mines' furnace mechanism to produce gears. For instance with Prison, we could maybe take some sheets out of the beds, and shred them in a machine to produce a stack of fabric. Right now Terraformer and Prison suffers from being useless for players: almost no contracts and nothing special to do there, including PvP.

  2. Maybe it would help if the contracts we receive on spawning are all located in the same POI. If players spawn with 3 contracts in Terraformer, instead of only one there, one in Capital Ship, and one in Mines, it would help a little bit. I would also remove from the game the "raidly" contracts located in Capital or Merchant ships. Not only it reveals to players that it is on the map, but it also encourages them to go there to perform their contract, in addition to the incencitive which steams from the fact that these are RNG places. Finally, I would grant half of the players 3 contracts in one POI, and 3 contracts in the other POI to the other hald. These are merely ideas, but I think that devs should find some ideas to make density of players in POIs more consistent.

Ok, so what if coordinates would be level locked; you can only get them for Mine (as a starting map), then you can get Spaceport, then probably Terraformer. Next you lose access to Mine but you get access to Prison, then you lose access to Spaceport but can get to Navy and then unlock Colony Cruiser at the end.
Would fix the problem of all new players getting smacked around by people who go Mine all the time, and wouldn't stop high levels for going Mine if they really want to roll random. Colony Cruiser would probably become the n1 pvp map but it wouldn't be bad considering how many earlygame quests are tied to the Mine.

So high level players can't just go mine over and over again to farm timmies who just started playing

@hybrid ingot To solve the problem that people ignore Prison and Terraformer I would suggest that SIG just puts Prison and Terraformer on the same map. Like it seems that the station pairs you get are random but I would say they're locked and if they would at Prison and Terraformer as a pair maybe that would force players to play either one of them. Your opinion?

That's true but I think there ain't the one and only solution to this problem. To make Prison and Terraformer more viable overall I would say that SIG needs to make many little changes and additions. Like I think that like @quiet kraken said that more interactive stuff on these maps like furnace on Asteroid Mine, more quests for these stations like my Bounty Hunter Guild-suggestion and more raid missions and make them spawn on the same map would overall improve the likeness of players to play these two stations.

To fix Colony Cruiser I would say they need to lower its spawnrate and when Mining Frigate will be added I think it will be more tolerable overall.

I think CC is fine as it is, because it's the only map where PvP is actually guaranteed; adding the miniraid there will make it worse, because everyone will just go to the frigate, there isn't much to loot on the CC and frigate will be even better for PvP considering it's going to be smaller.
Also no chance to spawn Merchant/Capital still won't fix people rerolling for ZTH progress.

Here, matchmaking is the issue: I go quickly in the raid, I don't even wait 30 secondes, but it's not peaktime at european time, so I spawn alone, or almost alone on the maps. I would rather wait 5 minutes but to have a full lobby

Beyond the ideas discussed here, I think that they should get rid as much as possible of all the RNG elements. For instance, they should make that if you have the Merchant Ship / Navy Outpost combo, then the CE code will spawn in Navy. This way, you would not have to bring back at your stash the code if you find one, but you would try to get the armor directly.

I'm trying since at least 30 minutes to use a set of CE Codes to find a T12 armor. Still did not spawn once on Spaceport / Navy. This is really the kind of feature which are cool in theory, yet absurd in practice and totally unfun.

I personnaly have some decent time to do videogames. But I imnagine that for people with only one hour from time to time, they could not even think about trying to get T12 armor, or use Tokens or hunt Red Baron...
