Penal colony to me is the possibly the most balanced map in the game currently across the board. its circular nature allows you to rotate out of hairy situations relatively with low risk and the loot on the map is balanced with places like the library and maintenance rooms offering good quantities of crafting suppiles or the security bunks with food, meds and guns. mixed in with aggressive AI and engaging PvP encounters makes for the best map overall. but with the addition of the red baron coming soon and my concern that the penal colony may yet again fall into obscurity I'd reckon throwing a boss idea out into the ether isn't that bad of an Idea.
generally speaking penal colony is mostly a CQB map with most of the action taking place outside of the main central area (Sentry Tower), players will mainly avoid this area unless they are nakeds with a blowtorch gunning it for the Vault or just lack the game sense to avoid a wide open area where you can be shot at from everywhere. this is the one part of the map where you will find little to no other players and why would you? It is after all a no mans land with nothing valuable in of itself. Enter your local Security tower technician or Batshit want to be cowboy depending on how you see him.
From the panic room underneath the tower emerges a methamphetamine addled American enraged that those torchlings dare ascend HIS tower to HIS vault. Lever action in hand he shoots all daring to enter the beams of light shining from the searchlights fearing they may try to stop him from fixing the colony's failsafe (what ever it may be).
The basic concept for this boss is he will ruthlessly defend the sentry tower and upper levels of the penal complex. adding more risk and more reward in the process, Being armed with a stripper clip fed lever action rifle (M1895) . the boss should be able to utilize his elevated position to harass players from afar only rushing when seeing the player enter the tower or being in the upper levels.

As an addendum I apologize for the clutter of words discord would not let me indent paragraphs.

There is already really aggressive AI on the map that don't hesitate to rush an gun you down if given the chance. I think having a more passive boss who just wants to guard his stash and restore order to the facility would be more engaging without getting in the way of the chaos happening on the lower levels of the facility

a UA technician holded up in a panic room in the base of the tower

i guess the lore could be he tries to enact a lockdown of the facility and activates a UA distress beacon calling for reinforcements
