#Flesh out space combat

💡 What is motivating this suggestion?

The restrictions on movement regarding flying your ships in space makes piloting them feel lackluster and the ship-to-ship combat could be a bit more fleshed out.

💡 What is your proposal?

Improve the maneuverability of ships by granting them the ability to roll and freely move in all directions. Give pilots the ability to free look when piloting the ship so that a solo could fly in one direction and shoot in another.

💡 Exactly and specifically, what should be changed and how?

Pic related. If I were to attempt an Immelmann turn in my ship I wouldn't be able to complete it properly as the ship is prevented from going upside-down. I would be able to fly straight up but I would not be able to go from position 2 to position 3 as the camera / ship is restricted from going upside-down. Removing this restriction and granting pilots the ability to roll manually so that we may be able to perform sweet ship maneuvers would make space combat feel more dynamic.

Touching on a post made by SavageSlavic, the ability to free-look for the pilot of a ship would be nice. Perhaps this could be implemented in a way that would even allow for a solo to fly in one direction and shoot in another so that it's less obvious they're a solo.

I think this is a very good suggestion, I've been wanting to free look as a solo since I started playing and I think it would help a lot in balancing space combat as well as make the game more fun

free looking is nice and would love that feature for solo pilots

free looking is the only good idea. the idea of these ships is being slow cause you can see their similarities with irl submarines and ships. have you seen how fast the capital ship is compared to the trailer?

like a jet roll?

that doesnt make sense

a jet roll with a heavy diesel-pnuk frigate like that?

I don't see why that doesn't make sense

^considering this is in space, "upside down" doesn't really exist so I don't see why any ship couldn't flip around and such

besides there would be no tactical advantage of being upside down

Flying around in your ship doesn't really have much to do with the atmosphere and the setting of the game if that's what you mean by vibe. Arguably being able to move in all directions and move unpredictably would be an advantage. Besides, what if I just want to stunt around in an interceptor showing my nuts so people will board me?

bro i'd understand it with fast ships but not slow ones
