#Top-tier armor should not be purchasable from traders.

I've been ranting about this here for a while now and allot of the more casual/new players haven't figured it out yet but there is effectively no reason to loot anything other than some Backpacks and Meds in this game. All the guns are within ~.2 seconds of TTK of the average and each level of armor reduces damage by 1 (1% of HP) according to it's level so The STG deals 30(%) dmg base against no armour. 24 damage against lvl 6 armor and 20 against level 10. This comes out to the Time To Kill only changing by ~.2 seconds between no armor and the best armor in the game. The calculations like this are similar for all other weapon/armor combos. The TTK difference between no armor and lvl10 for most weapons is between .2 seconds and .5 seconds. There are a few outliers as far as weapons but the difference between the best TTK and worst TTK weapons against lvl 10 armor (where the differences are most pronounced) is ~.7 seconds (the Delisle Carbine and The M16) almost every gun sits between 1 and .6 seconds for TTK.
The outcome of this is that pretty much looting anything is pointless, as is progressing in the game to get any gear better than the Uzi and Plate Rig. You can just leave all the loot in the map on the ground and not really be missing out on anything as long as you have like 10k in your wallet and a enough crafting mats to make a Plate Rig (though you aren't missing much just buying the lvl6 armor from the trader)
I mean you can literally find heaps anyways, I can buy high tier armour but never need too with how commonly it spawns
this is some busted-ass logic dude even the 6 vs 10 armor example (which is chest only to be clear) that's a difference of only needing to land 5 chest shots vs 10
armor plays a role but the winner is still headclickers and even then, armor is still huge because currently there's no major badass slaughtering teams on the reg with SVTs/welrods, just people having fun with runs on them then going back to SMGs/more reliable bullethoses to beam heads
even with headshots on lower-to-mid-damage weapons like the STG, that's a fatal headshot vs unarmored (30 * 3.5 = 105) and "only" 70 damage against a max-level 10 helmet ((30-10) * 3.5 = 70) or even 84 damage against a way more common level 6 helm ((30-6) * 3.5)
that difference of 16 vs 30 remaining HP after eating a headshot is huge when you consider that now, one of those players is fatal from a single STG chest or legshot, while the other can survive if they have stronger chest armor/can eat a single leg shot
armor matters even more when you're fighting someone using a klobb/uzi who spits 33% more bullets as you do at only slightly less damage per shot
TTK/armor/gunplay overall is in a pretty decent place, a little practice with angles and you can destroy so many players who aren't using cover and sound properly
they gotta fix the bugs + add content way more than worrying about this piddly stuff honestly
I have no idea what weapon your talking about but that simply isn't the case for any weapon in the game as far as i'm aware. Nothing which takes 5 shots to kill at lvl 6 will take 10 shots to kill at lvl 10. It's actually comical that you think "a reason to go into a raid and try to live with loot" is "piddly stuff". the TTK differences your talking about are a most 1-2 tenths of a second which is "huge" in the sense the the guy with less TTK landing every shot will technically win but not a valid reason to actually give a shit about the gear you use when you could just not and have pretty much the same result.
yeah, you can destroy players. I cleaned out most of the lobbies I went into when I was still playing the game. The lobbies that actually had players who were willing to fight instead of escape-podding with some useless items shoved up their asses at the first inkling of another player or just leaving the map as soon as they got in because there is no reason to go onto the station. I cleaned out the lobbies and then left every item sitting on the ground because there wasn't a single reason to pick anything up on the map.
there is no real content in the game or purpose for money
they don't need to nerf shit, they need to add content
there's already the gulf you yourself just identified of players who don't know wtf vs those who do, who realize you don't need much to get murderin'
that doesn't mean "make stuff harder to find" is going to help the already knwoledge-gapped players to stick around
I dunno I mean the gameplay loop is fun but I'm the only player left in my crew who still wants to play, so I guess I ultimately agree with you that there are serious problems but they really need to be addressed through content, not breaking a solid foundation
(and fixing 5+ month old session-breaking bugs)
hence, the rest is piddly in my eyes 😛
I just disagree that the foundation is solid. The technical side of the game works well and the idea is great. I've actually wanted almost this exact concept for a long time (Tarkov but in space with jankier weapons). The issue is that when you strip of the veneer of an inventory system and "loot" on the maps the game is actually just free-for-all deathmatch where it takes way too long to go from one fight to the next.
The thing that kills me is that it would be a fine game as a regular shooter like Call of Duty or a Battle Royale type game but it's like the game is pretending to be an extraction shooter and the things they do to apply that façade are taking away from the game in a big way. If I could just board the station, fight to the last man and get a "winner winner chicken dinner" screen at the end before re-queuing or just respawn and do gunfights at 10X the rate which is currently possible in this game it would be way more enjoyable.
hard disagree on the technical working well lol
The last few days I was playing with my friends/ solo i never experienced a crash and we only had some funky crew issues one time with people not being queued up when the party leader was.
broken inventory in a looter game in 2022 is uh, not great, with inventory issues around for 5+ months, and yeah crew issues
if you strip ALL lootershooters of their inventory system and loot they're DMs, dude
what sets some apart is the overall gameplay loop and reason to do it, the loop here works but there's just no real impetus to really do ANYTHING past that point of enough cash, unless you just like the game, which at least for now enough do
only way they're gonna stick around is with something to actually do though, regardless of fudging numbers, and right now they have a great core loop (ship stage -> raid stage OR alternate ship -> extraction) with lots of potential, just waiting to see what they add and hoping it's enough to keep people playing
Turning this game into a math problem is really unbelievable. Can we make this any more boring?
sure, you can spend 30 minutes entering and leaving raids to get a quest you want instead of fighting, that seems to be pretty common lol (I do it too, I don't know the fix)
anyway my bad I'm way off the suggestion's point, I'll see myself out
id rather do that then add up my damage. so stupid
Nah, your the clown.
Lol. Its called Gaming dude, welcome. the Devs put numbers in their game, people figure out what the best combinations of numbers are and then stomp you in the game. You don't have to do the math, other people can do it for you but if you just want to REALLY FEEL LIKE BATMAN or whatever, just play a single-player adventure game.
Been gaming probably longer then you and dont do this bs. Sorry but its not necessary to play games and just enjoy whats givin to me. Does that last statement make you feel any better? casue it makes you sound even more dick baggish. Keep up the math bro! so cool you can add.
lol what a strange thing to be mad about. Epic Casual Moment
If you guys think 0.5 seconds is an insignificant margin just goes to show how low functioning you are
okay but It's not that significant in the grand scheme of things, that's the difference between missing like 2-3 MP40 rounds. So if you're off-target for 3 rounds while wearing "The Best Armor In The Game" you will lose the trade to someone with a Mat-45 and lvl6 vest from the trader who landed all his shots. which is cool and whatever for a comp shooter but then why the fuck do I care about "The Best Armor In The Game". I'll wear it when i have it for the little buff it gives but I'm not getting excited when I loot it.
at that point just remove inventories from the game and let's just play Call of Duty on the space station
Disclaimer: I didn't do all the math on that exact situation
As it should be. Armor is not that hard to find and get in this game, and it should not be such an overwhelming Factor as it is in other games. The balance they have is fantastic. You can definitely feel when it is working and when you survive an encounter on one HP because of your armor. But ultimately skill is what matters, as it should
Armor does matter against evenly skilled opponents who are both playing well. if you think it doesnt you are quite simply getting destroyed by exposing yourself and not taking good fights, and then whining like a lil bitch that you didnt win just because of your gear
alright, that's like uhhh your opinion man but allot of people want to feel rewarded for getting loot which is ostensibly "the best"
alright, the "skill issue" argument has come out. honestly man I can't do another argument against fanboy brainrot today so I'm not going to be responding
Seeth and cope, skill wins. Get shat on
Only bots do that to be fair
Okay schizo. I haven’t said anything about “getting shat on” or even implying that my issues stems from that. My issue is that I was cleaning out lobbies and leaving all the loot on the ground because all the gear is the same. Take your meds.
Go play tarkov if you want to loot grind
Epic retort. Go play call of duty if you just want to gunfight with roughly balanced guns with no progression.
Seethe and cope
Cope and seethe
Weird cause when I played that’s what I did and I’m pretty sure there are no bots in this game. It’s just the most efficient thing to do.
genuine question with no hate here.. if you're not grinding for loot, what is the point of this game? the entire genre of extraction shooters IS to grind for loot
