💡 What is motivating this suggestion? Improving the game and helping the staff by catching cheaters via spectate mode
💡 What is your proposal? The ability to spectate other players after death
💡 Exactly and specifically, what should be changed and how? Implementing spectate mode after death will allow us to spectate sus players. We can record and report. NOTE: I know spectate mode has been suggested already but I am emphasizing the power behind it to catch cheaters and report them. Watching your buddies after you die is cool and all but beyond that, I believe this is a powerful tool to catch those pesky cheaters.
#Allow Us To Relieve You From The Burden Of Dealing With Cheaters By Implementing *Spectate Mode*

Doesn't seem like they are doing much for cheaters, I wish there was more communication about working on it. You can't even say cheater or hackers in general chat, they've just banned the words.
We are doing everything we can to combat cheating in Marauders. We have had an unfortunately timed week with Twitchcon taking up a lot of the teams time, along with then it being a holiday weekend in Canada where more of the Community team are based, myself included. We will be commenting on the issue in the future, but we are going to need a little bit more time! The game was only released into Early Access last monday afterall. But thank you for your patience.
Could be a deathcam as well. PUBG can record entire matches, the last 30s before death.. Quake 3 Arena jotted down inputs. A lot of us don't mind dying, as long as it's to a legitimate player. I can take owning a death where it's my fault, but dying to a cheater is sickening and makes you feel like your time was a waste.
hard no. but i do like Zhan's death cam idea. i think after 30s the cam can be viewed and then a report button can be there to submit footage and a ticket.
Honestly sometimes I just wanna know what fucking gun killed me.
3th prestige here and didnt meet anyone who could be sus.
You're not everyone.
And even if you didn't, its a good precautionary measure. It both educates on what you could've done differently and if the person was legitimate.
Like, you can tell the difference between a real player and an aimbot. One will take steady movements, scan for targets whilst the latter will just 'snap' to targets within a certain radius and will stick while you strafe etc.
Damage breakdown like Tark would be nice, but considering we dont have HP for each limb.. might be a little redundant. Besides, you can usually tell with the sound
damage breakdown is cool, but deathcam would never work in this game. it gives you wayyyy too much information to possibly ghost with, even it its old.
I'm fine with it being even a day after. People will say the same thing about Tark and you get even more sus deaths due to the open ended nature (literally nature) of the maps there.
Deathcam can actually be kinda unfair if you have a team you can send that info to them if they don't know where you got shot from or spectating there movements (for the spectating suggestion) as you can call out what's he doing at any moment to your teammates
i think this is a great idea, only difference is, ONLY allow Spectate of 1st person camera of Teammates, and then AFTER all your teammates are dead, allow speciation of player who killed you/ their team
I don't see how a spectator cam would relay do anything of value?
Main reason being that watching a player may not yield anything but suspicion.
How about an alternative option, use social knowledge (suspected player of cheating) to flag a cheater,
and then in time penalize them for continued suspicion of chat activity.
Obviously can not be 100% based on flagging a player as a cheater.
I have been keeping an eye on game-play and I haven't seen anything that stands out to much.
I look for wall hacks and aim bots. I have experienced, a lot of empty boxes across the map at nudock and unable to reload weapon (suspect). But only once so far, these things have happened and could well be bugs related to internet connection.
except then we get a whole new cheater the ok im spectating my killer he is right here
Not possible in a team game because you could then just spy on the other teams through their eyes and relay to your team where they are, hell even go in with a team of 4 and kill 1 so you have a permanent spy.
its already bad enough for streamers with stream sniping
It wouldn't be an immediate deathcam. Not asking for CoD instantaneous playback. It could be after the raid. Chill. Whatever would be implemented wouldn't affect gameplay balancing.
you don't need a spectate mode to catch cheaters just enable a combat log at the end of a raid, the cheats people are using aren't sophisticated b/c of how easy it is to turn off the version of EAC in the game right now and no authoritative server checks /shrug
Combat log alone doesn't show enough info. Doesn't show where they were positioned, if they 'snapped' to a target, or any amount of unknown variables. All it does is show you damage breakdown, which you probably could've heard from the caliber riddling you.
I’ve only encountered one player who was undeniably cheating. It doesn’t seem like a massive issue at the moment. There are more important issues as far as bugs and the core gameplay that the developers should be devoting their time to.
True, but it's still worth to look into even if you can't immediately implement it. Agreed that the core systems have to be in place first.
I’m not sure how spectate would work since you can’t let people spectate immediately after dying because they could just tell their teammates everything. If it did exist it would have to be ~30 minutes after you die to ensure that the raid is over.
Spectate was the OP's idea. I'm suggesting deathcam as an alternative. And yes, after a long hiatus that the raid is complete.
Yeah, I’m totally for having it. I always wish Tarkov had it to try and explain the bullshit that happens in the game. I don’t actually know but I do feel that there would be allot of work that goes into making that so I think it should be set aside until the core gameplay is fixed.
A damage check at the end would show everything, if you did over 200 damage to them without them healing and they had the highest possible armour they shoulda dropped, simples, they could just implement that to catch them out, armour and health at 150 and they take 170 and still keep rockin, FLAG.
Obviously if you’re in a team then spectate mode should only be limited to your team member’s perspective… you should only be able to spectate other players if you die as a solo or after team wipe.
spectating would allow more cheating by calling out the location to your team if they are still alive and in discord :/
