I was just worried about the sheer quantity of it.
it's likely the brushes don't fit very well
they'll probably wear into a better fit and spark less
Does that usually take a very long time or just a couple of holes before it happens?

I just made another hole and I couldn't get it to spark as much as I did for my first couple of holes. Or maybe the first one was just tougher cause the drill was also struggling considerately more.
The brushes are chunks of graphite, like pencil lead. They should conform to the spindle fairly quickly.
