I was given this belt sander after after my grandfather passed away. It’s a craftsman. I sent some pictures to the company and they said it was so old they had no information on the sander. Anyway, I was thinking that someone here might know something about it and/or what should I do with it. I should add that im unable to balance the machine so that the belt stays on. Im not sure if it’s bent or im not doing it correctly. Still runs and is super dangerous.

Can't really tell from the photos, but there may be a tracking adjustment on one of the rollers to turn it left/right to get the belt running straight.
I think it’s a tad bit dangerous tbh. I only want to see it preserved since it’s so old.
I was hoping I could ship it to Adam and maybe he’d care for it. The motor on it is badass
The belt could be the culprit, drive belts if they have been sitting for a long time develop a memory and can cause wobbles from inconsistent pressure. Id start by doing some basics to see if the shaft is bent and grabbing a new belt. For the shaft you could do something simple like set something flat on a set location and manually turn the shaft to see if it raises and lowers thus telling you if its bend. If that checks out as not looking bent id grab a new belt and see if that fixes the problem.
