Hello, my school is doing a game Jenna as part of a required project thing for one of my classes, and I would like to use you unity, I know that it’s based on c#, I’m wondering if starting off with trying to make projects for unity is a good way to practice, or if there are any ideas for software I should make with c# that could translate well to unity

Hey @terse anchor ,

I only can talk for me but in my Opinion i think, that if u learn Console Applications first is the better way. But if u really want to code games than unity is better. If u want to learn the Language C# then Console Applications is the better way

I am a bit late, but unity CAN be a great way to start of with learning c#.

Pros:

  • Maybe more fun in Learning due to the Feedback (it can be more fun if u can really see youre stuff in action)
  • Nice Ecosystem with many learning videos

Cons:

  • Might be hard to start off with Videogames, the fact that u need to use Math (Unity got ways around that by using the Physics system made by them as far as i know)
  • It's (in my opinion) often far of from e.g. Web or Application Programming in C# so u might need to Learn a lot when switching to that later on

Theres definetly more pros and cons but ig those are the most important ones
