these two together makes your character a "huge" sized character(or gargantuan after lv18)

In older literature, faerie is a set of realms, any non human plane really. The fae folk are anyone who come from those realms. These could be elfs, pixies, gnomes, sprites, goblins, brownies, and even depending on the classification, selkies and dwarves. There was a brief period in the late 1800s where some authors attempted to conglomerate several of the fae folk into a single category of fairy (see Gilbert and Sullivan), but that attempt got permanently disabled by fantasy authors, starting with George MacDonald.
So within D&D it makes sense that one could be a fairy, but then it's important to determine the subcategory. In olden days though, this would usually break down first into whether you were a member of the seelie (can deal amicably with humans) vs. unseelie (permanent warfare with humans) courts. Selkie = seelie. Goblin = unseelie.
Two common overarching points of fae were their deal making and their love of stories. As far as deal making was concerned, as beings become more spiritual those that are not good aligned (and even some of those that are) put an increasing value on keeping your word, and increasing penalties for breaking it. Many spiritual beings have ridiculous powers which are held in place by oaths, but if you break a promise this releases them. As far as stories, and dealing with humans in general are concerned: many fae creatures exist in an eternally constant or cyclic state, and their exposure to humans is the only way they can significantly change. Hence their fascination in humans and their love of stories in which a change is achieved. Given they gain power via deal making, and given the longing of some fae to improve their lot via humans, making any promise to a fae creature is astronomically ill advised.

unfortunately, the rules of dnd doesn't make you any tougher even though you're now a gargantuan character, unless maybe the dm rules that those now itsy bitsy tiny weapons now struggle to harm you, I guess- but giant's might and enlarge does make you physically hit harder

I think enlarge is like, an added 1d4 to your attacks- while giant's might is 1d6 once each turn(becoming 1d8 after lv10, and 1d10 after lv18)
